is it odd I feel I'm seeing ghost of Bobby Smith when KK is on the ice?

I think there are a couple of things going on here. First of all this team is playing a different style than they used to. Most games are run and gun style now where we typically played a trap system in the past. The defense pinches much more than ever and that leaves opportunity for the other team to get chances on us. Secondly we have a very young defense that shows signs of great things but also does some really bad things! not to mention that we have a #4 Dman (Petry) and a #6 Dman (Has been Benn alot) as our first pairing. I also see Price as similar to Peyton Manning of the NFL - very technical and they both rely on the other team members to do their jobs correctly. Manning looked like the best quarterback ever to play at times and an absolute disaster at other times. If everyone picked up their assignments and the receivers ran their routes correctly then Manning would move the ball up the field with incredible precision. If they failed to do things the way they were supposed to then Manning looked like a horrible quarterback. I see Price the same way, a very technical goalie that relies on the defense to pick up the right players and the forwards to support correctly and this is not happening right now. Niemi isn't fairing much better!

People are right. Defense is the main problem here goaltending is the secondary issue. Petry as much as he is trying is just playing too many minutes and is not a #1. He seems like he can’t hit the broad side of a barn either which is why we saw Reilly on the first wave a couple times. Benn is in the same boat he’s a decent 3rd liner but should not be playing top pair, he doesn’t have the mind or smarts for it. Limit his minutes and he can still be effective. Alzner is literally a pylon, should be sent down when Weber returns. Glad to see Schlemko back I think him and Petry could make a decent second line. With Mete and Juulsen on the third. This should bring the core back into a situation where they are giving the goaltending some help.

Glad Plex got a nice cheer...he worked hard for the CH for a lot of years, playing a slew of hard minutes against the other team's top scorers and on the PK.

Even a hat trick for Max would be fine by me, as long as Habs get Niemi the win.

Tbh, I hope Patch gets a goal and a good reception; he did so much for this team, and it'd be nice to see some recognition for that. That being said, I hope it's 6-1 for the good guys.

Just watching Pacioretty interviews leading up to this game and I think it is safe to assume that he absolutely is thrilled not to be playing in this market anymore. Personally I think Montreal got the best version out of him during his prime and that he is taking it easy in Vegas now without the big bad Montreal media breathing down his neck. He finally got his pay day, and in Vegas it is patio season all year long so life is great

AHHH here is an old thread from 4 years ago with the same issue. THE BLOODY POWER PLAY! 4 years later and the power play is still garbage and it has been more often then not ever since we changed to a RH one timer... ever since PK's intial success to start his career it has fluttered no matter who is in that spot! (PK/ weber/ petry) (markov/drouin) when the F are they gonna replace that RH one timer option to a lefty permanently! As long as our QB is a lefty (now Drouin) coming from the left side... the one timer need to be a lefty... the only righty should be the guy coming out of the left corner for tap in's in close, one timers, screens and walking out from the corner and half wall.... Gallagher R (L. side corner/ boards) 2nd unit Shaw R -walk off the boards and corners -one timer -screens/tips -shot from the slot -corner battles -net presence Domi L (down low) 2nd unit Hudon L -behind the net -setup man -net presence -one timer -screens/tips -shot from the slot -corner battles Tatar L (R.side corner/boards) 2nd unit Kotkaniemi L -walk off the boards/corners -one timer -back door assist -shot from the slot -corner battles -net presence Drouin L (L side point QUARTERBACK) 2nd unit Mete L -the default QB and starting point of the PP -back door play Reilly L (right side point) 2nd unit Atturi L -one timer from right side - decoy to open up slots and board play and cross ice seems this is the biggest issue i believe as entries into zone has improved drastically! we can brush this off as not the problem but 4 years later and all the player changes and still the PP struggles...
