Would like to see a Domi for a Sam Gagner + Evan Bouchard. Would like to see a Petry for Cogliano + Dellandrea. You guys see my point. Sell a valuable asset, take some deadwood salary back to land a near ready blue chip.

The Sharks (44 pts) leapfrogged Montreal in the standings with their win over Columbus. LA (40 pts) beat Vegas to get within 3 points of the Habs. Anaheim (39 pts) failed to score and dropped the game to Dallas. The Devils (37 pts) lost to the Rangers.

53 points in 37 games? I think we’re beyond salvation now. Let’s hope Bergevin can sell some (older) assets at the deadline, and then let’s enjoy the draft.

We were always a bubble team, to start with. After a decent start, we got some injuries combined with dodgy goaltending and went into a tailspin. And we still have not stabilized the team. The injuries are not the only factor, to be sure, but they definitely contributed.

Button's prospect list has two Habs amongst the top 10 in the entire league, with Romanov at 5 and Caufield at 10. That kind of projection has Romanov as a top pair player (not next year, but eventually). This is still with guys under 21 currently in the NHL in Mete, Fleury, Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, and Poehling. The current group is already ahead of anything the DeLaRose, Collberg, Fucale, etc... group ever did. I don't see the reason to be negative on them.
