  1. If the Habs are a playoff team next year, that’s a good thing. I don’t subscribe to the mentality that we should predict the future as negative under all circumstance. If a great trade offer comes up involving Petry or Tatar, I’ll evaluate then and am willing to be happy about either one of them being moved. Keeping Tatar and Petry by the next deadline doesn’t guarantee a negative ending to the story though and if they help us have a good team next year, I wouldn’t complain. It feels odd to even have to defend that point. In the end, I think either pathway can have the potential to lead to success. There’s no rush with Petry and Tatar.

  4. As is the custom, let's keep all of the trades in here except for Montreal's moves which will get their own threads.

  6. Moving Tatar is hardly "blowing up the core." He's the guy I'd be shipping out (assuming a competitive return). Petry is a bigger issue because his departure would turn a mediocre blueline into a catastrophic one. As for those persistent Price rumours, now THAT is the unicorn. A trade which - if we get back the kind of return you expect for Price - could really change the parameters of the Habs' future. I am pessimistic that it will happen, but hope it does.

  7. If Petry goes anywhere, I hope we get this type of return from teams that may be desperate to go far in the playoffs (see if I win the bragging rights lottery ): from Winnipeg: 1st round pick 2020, Kristian Vesalainen and Ville Heinola from Carolina: 1st round pick 2020, Haydn Fleury and Dominik Bokk from Florida: 1st round pick 2020, Owen Tippet and Max Gildon with Stralman coming back for salary cap relief
