Really? I thought it was a bad luck play on the tying goal. Had it not hit the ref, there wouldn't have been a goal. Also, Drouin did get two assists in this game...I wouldn't qualify that as a POS, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong, never been a huge fan of Drouin, but i thought he played a decent game yesterday, that's why i'm a little surprised by your assessment of his game last night!

Would you accept a rental centre, an overpaid winger, and a second-round pick for Kotkaniemi? That's basically what you're proposing Columbus do, trade their top centre (a somewhat-recent top-five pick) for not a whole lot of value here. I don't think you'd be happy if Bergevin did that; similarly, Columbus would rightfully be skewered if they did that trade.

I would not trade Suzuki. Not with what we saw as the season went on last year, and in the playoffs. He'd be untouchable to me. I think the ceiling is very, very high with Suzuki and arguably higher than Dubois. I would give KK. The rumour I've heard is KK and Mete + cap stuff so likely Byron and I don't know, maybe adding Jordan Weal would make it work cap wise.

I hate to say it, but the Suzuki rumour makes sense. If I’m CBJ I insist on him as the return: a likely #1C in return for an already-established #1C. No way would I take KK, who is not self-evident #1C material. And yet something about PLD makes me a bit nervous. I know, I know, he was a PPG player in the playoffs. I know, he had a 27-goal, 61-point season as a 20-year-old (!!). I know, he’s francophone and has great size. He literally *is* the big, talented C the franchise has been looking for since about 1995. And yet also regressed last season and has only cracked 50 points once in three years; and now he wants out of the organization that drafted him. I understand that Torts is a jackass and all. Still, to my mind, it raises questions. I’m not saying “don’t make the trade,” but these factors trouble me a bit.

Wouldn't work cap-wise for the Habs - they'd be over and would only have 11 forwards on the roster.

Sportsnet called it wrong. Kulak was called for a cross-check behind the net, Chiarot and Simmonds were 5 for fighting only. That one also didn't lead to a goal - the Anderson board, Suzuki hold, and Weber misfiring on the clear-out did. Those were all legit calls and none of them were forced penalties in terms of the Leafs doing something to force the Habs into taking them.
