Drouin won't get a point there, but he drew the penalty and made the play along the boards to start the goal (a 3rd assist type pass). He also has an assist tonight. Clearly has taken his game to another level this season.6 points

Lehkonen needs to be protected as well but the Habs have to comply with the 2 forwards under contract that meet the 27/54 rule. As things stand, those two forwards are likely Byron and Evans by default (once they get there). Lehkonen can't be in that category because he's an RFA. Unless he's signed, they can't protect Evans and unprotect Lehkonen. It's not that RFAs don't need to be protected - they do - but in order for the Habs to protect Evans over Lehkonen, they'd have to extend Lehkonen first. This is not the venue for these sort of personal attacks. Bad form bud. Argue the content. Avoid name calling.5 points

I think that’s two different issues. We lost the sergachev trade. Fine. It’s done. Sucks - but it’s done. but 5.5 for a 50+ pt 2nd line forward? That’s the going rate. As soon as a player gets 50 pts a season that instantly means there are at least 30 games where they got 0 points. We aren’t even talking the odd time the player has a 2 or 3 point night. And those nights Drouin doesn’t score - he looks terrible (tho the beginning of last season, before the injury, he wasn’t floating) Drouin is what he is. A top 6 forward. At 5.5 per, that’s not outrageous.5 points

I'm still available. I'm very defensive, like to hit people and most of my friends and family find me very offensive. And as you may have suspected I'm cheap.4 points

They are nowhere near the team they were in the 80’s. While they admittedly had dynasty holdovers in Robinson and Gainey, they drafted and developed a multiple conn smythe and Vezina winner in Roy, a multiple Norris winner in Chelios, 100 point man Naslund, 50 goal scorer im the enigmatic Richer, multiple selke winner in Carbonneau, traded for 90 point men in Damphousse, Bellows and Muller. Always had a steady stream of good top 4 Dmen until the Houle years Oh, and we won two cups and went to another finals.4 points

Referees for the 'Dollar Bill’s Discount Money Lenders North Division' as CC so eloquently put it: Kendrick Nicholson Brad Meier Eric Furlatt Kevin Pollock Marc Joannette Graham Skilliter Chris Schlenker Mitch Dunning* Michael Markovic* Corey Syvret* *-AHL referees There's also a list of linesmen that will be restricted to North Division duty but I wanted to mention the referees at least so everyone could rejoice in not seeing Chris Lee's name on there.4 points

Well, my daddy left home when I was three And he didn't leave much to ma and me Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze Now I don't blame him 'cause he run and hid But the meanest thing that he ever did Was before he left he went and named me Sue (...) And he said, "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it he's gotta be tough And I know I wouldn't be there to help you along So I gave that name and I said goodbye I knew you'd have to get tough or die And it's that name what helped to make you strong"4 points

Weber has clearly declined, and significantly in the defensive end of the ice. The xGA stats show this. The shots he is giving up are coming from high danger areas more and more. Thats an issue with a nearly 8 million cap hit, so yes, I'd leave him unprotected.3 points

Tangential side-note: I got Chris Nilan to make a “Memmo” video as a present for my father’s 79th birthday. He did a great job, talking about how tough things are under Covid, expressing rueful sympathy about the challenges of getting older - his sincerity and charisma really came through. 👍 Knuckles is da man!3 points

Not happy with Toffoli's choice to throw the puck back in the defensive zone when he had a chance to clear. Seconds later, it was 2-0 Winnipeg. You have the puck on your stick and the third pairing on the ice, make the smart play and get it out of there.3 points

I’m going to leave this great stat here because they are both going to score tonight3 points

Danault : Yeah I just scored my first of the season, knew it was coming. Petry : That's cute. I juste scored my 10th. Danault : Yeah, but I have all the big defensive missions. Petry : You mean, like a defenseman ?3 points

OK, so let's look at the difference before/after (first 10 games vs last seven games): Scoring for (per game): 4.4 vs 1.9 -- woah, Nelly, is that a cliff or what? Scoring against (per game): 2.7 vs 2.9 -- almost the same, given the small sample size Shooting for (per game): 34 vs 33 -- the shots are down, but only barely Shooting against (per game): 29 vs 29 -- no more shots being given up Shooting percentage for: 12.8% vs 5.6% -- 12.8% was surely unsustainable. But surely 5.6% isn't normal, either? Shooting percentage against: 9.3% vs 10.0% -3 points

First of all, thanks God Bergevin acquired Anderson and Toffoli, since they, along with Price, were the only Habs to show up for the first 40 minutes. It’s the old story: your best players have to be your best players. Price and Gallagher really brought it - the latter being THE difference-maker in the third. Danault also looked like he shook off his daze in the second half. Mete certainly had one that one great shift and looked competent otherwise. I thought Romanov looked good too. Weber was a painful sight for the first 40...I don’t know how many times I saw him wit3 points

TSN picked their own but RDS usually picks the official 3 Stars for Montreal's home games. Of course, neither are as important as the HW 3 Stars in the recaps we have for most games...just saying...3 points

It’s another case of having great depth. Why trade him? One injury on the blue line and he slots right in.3 points

Really? I thought it was a bad luck play on the tying goal. Had it not hit the ref, there wouldn't have been a goal. Also, Drouin did get two assists in this game...I wouldn't qualify that as a POS, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong, never been a huge fan of Drouin, but i thought he played a decent game yesterday, that's why i'm a little surprised by your assessment of his game last night!3 points

I think we have room for one big contract this offseason, not two. If I'm looking for a big contract, I'm after a game breaker at wing, not a defenceman. I think Kulak, Chiarot, Romanov, and Mete.... is a good 1-4 on the Left, and you have Weber, Petry, Juulsen and Fleury on the right.3 points
