  1. Allen, 50% retained for .................. ?
  2. I'm old ... not quite this old ... but close
  3. I agree ... the $64,000 Question is whether he realizes that/agrees or wants to sign a pro contract and start getting paid.
  4. In that case ... "futures" away ... I'd prefer to leave as many players in Laval for as long as possible.
  5. EARLY start on this ... felt like the best place to mention that I would prefer Condotta and Stephens be called up for Tuesday's game, giving Newhook the extra four days until the Dallas game in Montreal on the 10th.
  6. Agreed ... the unknown is what, if any, premium does Buffalo place on Rochester making the playoffs and how much do they feel that Jost helps that if it is a goal ... hence my reference to the possibility of an "AHL trade".
  7. I think the point is that if CBJ trades Rostolvic they will be looking for some sort of asset(s) in their "re-tool", not anything for this season.
  8. @dlbalr mentioned elsewhere Ryan Johansen, Radek Faksa and Tyson Jost. With Faksa playing 4th line minutes, Dallas might well be happily rid of him ... but I don't know that they would pay a "Monahan-ish premium" to do so ... with another year on his contract a trade would depend on whether Dallas would "give" would be enough to make it worth HuGo's while ... unless a trade was expanded ... but not certain what the Habs have that the Stars would want. Johansen has been a but for the Avs but unless they first find an upgrade at centre it seems unlikely they trade him ... but Habs could be useful "3rd team" in such a trade ... but again, there is another year on his contract with a $4M AAV ... but would Colorado both "pay-the-price" for an upgrade at centre and for the Habs to take on Johansen? Jost is playing in Rochester, he is only costing the Sabres $850K on the salary cap ... AND ... the salary cap is not an issue for them ... so unless Pegula wants to be rid of his actual salary, it could either be a minor "NHL trade" (i.e., late/later round pick) or an "AHL trade" that gives the Americans something they need to compete with Laval for a playoff spot ... a pick seems unlikely ... Jost was never had faceoff success in the NHL so I can't see the rest of the season being an audition as a possible 24/25 4C, which could then have allowed Evans to be dealt after the season.
  9. Their last hurrah before being moved/sold?
  10. From what we've seen I agree ... but that was 23 games in a new city, on a new team, etc. ... THIS is the opportunity to see if those first impressions were correct, or whether Newhook can at least be a viable option at centre if/when needed down the road (even if primarily playing on the wing).
  11. While Monahan is having a slightly better season this year (4 more goals, one fewer assist), since 19/20 Lindholm has significantly out-performed Monahan ... that may have been in large part due to injuries, but GMs care about such things.
  12. In his "presser", Hughes was asked if he pursued prospects as an option to a first rounder ... he confirmed that he did, but that it would have had to be a "first round equivalent" prospect ... further, the teams he had discussions with were not interested in trading the prospects in which he expressed interest ... some "expert"-guest on TSN690 yesterday noted that teams are usually much more willing to trade first rounders than first round equivalent prospects because the pick is still just an anonymous concept, not a player in whom they have become "invested".
  13. I might see it more as a tool to resolve the "Gidorah" goalie situation in goal.
  14. Sans Monahan, the team "should" slip ... I expect Ottawa might have passed them anyway, and hope that Columbus and Minnesota also finish well and climb over Montreal ... Chicago, Anaheim and/or SJS doing so is likely too much to hope for.
  15. I think, like Toffoli, HuGo decided on a price and made the deal when it was met ... circumstances can change if you wait ... not only SM possibly getting injured (e.g, Edmundson was a likely deadline. move last season, until he missed all of February) but also teams falling out of contention and adding players to the available pool ... and ... teams seen as potential trading partners falling out of contention and/or finding "internal solutions".
  16. This may be important ... could still use the remaining slot this season (and, unfortunately, one next year) to move Allen or Savard
  17. This is potentially quite important ... Hughes may not be finished.
  18. After the Lindholm trade I was hoping for at least a forward prospect with legit Top 6 potential ... hope they plan to use the pick(s) to move up at the draft or as part of a trade for an NHL ready Top 6 forward.
  19. In the past that was accepted ... I-M-O it was never "good enough", unless you accept him as nothing but a 3rd line 3rd wheel.
  20. Over the next three years the Jets are only missing their 2024 2nd rounder so they have "draft capital". Amongst their best prospects (excluding defencemen) are: Colby Barlow Left Wing, LHS, 18 yrs-old, 6.01, 195, #18 overall 2023 Brad Lambert Center, RHS, 20 yrs-ago, 6.01, 173, #30 overall 2022 Chaz Lucius Center, RHS, 20 yrs-old, 6.01, 185, #18 overall 2021 Rutger McGroarty Right Wing, LHS, 19 yrs-old, 6.01, 200, #14 overall 2022 And all that irrelevant because it is now reported:
  21. Would avoid the risk of SM getting injured but would also avoid the desperation that drives up prices at the deadline.
  22. I-M-O ... Gallagher's "descent" started before MSL took over ... and ... blaming MSL for Dvorak's lack of production is unfair; he just is what he is.
