2024 NHL Entry Draft
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN replied to Habs Fan in Edmonton's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
We can also trade one of our current D prospects for a top forward and replace him with a top 10 D draft pick in 2024. The good news is we have so many assets, we can dictate the direction we go. -

I can't see Habs getting much for Allen. I think 3rd RD is best case, but even that is a reach.

And Xhekaj with Engstrom or Konyushkov -
Nobody wants him participating in full practice until next season ( i surely dont). But, light skating on his own, to activate his quads, cycling for his hams, etc, to combat muscle atrophy will only help. As long as he's wearing his brace to avoid any twists, etc. He's over 4 months post-op, so he's almost there, if not already with fullbone growth around the pins holding his new ligaments in place. That's the biggest hurdle really. Odds of him re-tearing after ligamentization vs tearing it out of the bone before bone growth and fusion of pins /bones is much lower.
-
There is a huge difference in timeline, pending which procedure was used to fix both ligaments -Double grafted semi tendinosis -double grafted patella tendon - cadaver If the cadaver was used in the procedure and given his young age.... 8 months to return isn't out of the question. I would expect he would wear a ortho brace to start. The semi tendinosis provides best results although hardest rehab, and comes with added hamstring issues.

Montembeault Olympic Option
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN replied to hockeyrealist's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
He has the rest of the season and next to earn a spot on Canada. He needs a solid +.920 for serious consideration. Habs will need to be a playoff team as well. -
Signing Brandon Gignac signed to 2-yr, 2-way Contract

For sure it will be Condotta. He is more a winger playing C anyways. -

I thought he needs to clear waivers only to get sent down. Signing mid-season puts him on NHL roster. Looks like we open up after all star break with Suzuki Evan Gignac Condotta down the middle -
Trade Monahan Traded to Winnipeg for 2024 1st+

So now considering the Lindholm trade, and how expectations evolved from that deal 48 hours ago. How can this not feel underwhelming. -
Injury risk... 100% get it. But league wide considered better player? Not so sure that's a league wide opinion, or your opinion unless we are factoring in recent injuries.

Trade Monahan Traded to Winnipeg for 2024 1st+
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN replied to Commandant's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Is it though? A 1st round pick was always the likely return provided Monohan returned to health and form. He showed last year and TY, that he never lost his form and only needed to remain healthy. The 3rd roumder is a wash unless jets do the unthinkable and win it all. Given the return for Lindolm... it this just seems like we left potential assets on the table just to make a deal. Here's to hoping we can secure his services again in the off-season. -
Trade Monahan Traded to Winnipeg for 2024 1st+
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN replied to Commandant's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Sending him to Winnipeg and testing the Jets waters vs say Boston or NYR or Dallas does help with a possible but highly unlikely re-sign in the off-season. But, stranger things have happened. -
After seeing what was brought in for Lindolm... this seems like it's not enough. Considering they are the same age, Monahan is healthy and out performing Lindolmbthis season. As well as outperformed throughout their career

As good as Matheson has been for us this year and in this game, particularly with his sublime skating. His decision-making at times leaves me wanting much more. I get it turnovers happen, more so with the top guys on teams who just get more touches during a game than most and often make plays. BUT, the decision to throw the puck at the net while skating backwards at Pitts blue line during 3on3 was ridiculous. Shorten your shift, hold possesion and make a change! i want to see a little more Slav on 3on3 as well. -

At his AAV likely every contender will be in on him looking to shore up there 3rd spot or put on wing as insurance for down the middle I would believe -

Xhekaj and Mailloux pairing is eating up huge minutes and have transformed Lavals season since being put together. I would just leave that pair in Laval to continue to grow, develop and play big minutes in all situations this year. -
GDT Game #46 - Canadiens vs Bruins
IN THE HEARTS OF MEN replied to GHT120's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Well, we have played the top 10 teams in the league pretty well so far... I believe we are now 6-6-3 in the 15 games played thus far against them. Only getting blown up by Boston tonight and Vancouver Struble getting roughed up I wouldn't read to much into as it's not like we have seen him regress game by game. I thought Barron should of been the guy to sit when Harris first returned but, Im just an arm chair coach. This looks more like a team missing there 2nd line and young core unable to hang with a juggernaut -

Top ten-fifteen forwards in the NHL u23 (all players can be dealt for the right price >> Wayne Gretzky) And who is arguing that his defensive game is good? Surely its not me! My argument is that we cannot let an opportunity to add to our SCORING slip away because we are questioning the defensive game of a 22 year old center who has basically been the key player on his teams top line since he arrived full time now in his 3rd season. Even more so, that he's been "the guy" playing on one of the weakest teams in the league over that stretch. But a team and its fans starving for some real scoring talent for the last 30 years in Mtl is gonna pass because in year 1 and 2 of his career he's been terrible defending? who hasnt been on Anahiem? Again, not once did i suggest his defensive game is good. I am suggesting that we trade for him today regardless of his defensive numbers and I would be willing to include one of Harris or Barron, Beck or Tuch and a handful of picks to make sure it gets done. How many picks would be the question I asked in a trade proposal thread. I'd love to see a list of forwards in the last 10 seasons that have put up more than 61 and 65 points in there rookie and sophomore seasons? I'm sure it's a very short list -

With Pearson and Ylonen pretty much set to return any game now, will this be Roy's last game b4 getting sent back down? I would think he will need a real good showing vs BOS to stick around longer -
Patrick Roy will be behind the bench @ the Bell Centre

Agreed but Carlsson just arrived this year and McTavish last season. Cutter will join their ranks as early as end of season as well
