  1. This news just TOTALLY made my day!!!!
  2. ummm... Komisarek and Higgins actually got into it last year after returning from NY over Christmas. They seemed really embarrassed about it after when the press was talking to them, but they seemed fine. This quote by Higgs from the article's actually quite funny: "We've been friends since peewee," Higgins said. "The guys have been ribbing us since practice ended. Mike stayed at my house on Christmas Eve and guys were ribbing me that I was upset because he didn't make my grandmother's bed or we fought over who was getting the aisle on the flight back to Montreal." http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news...2d-517757e2cf8d
  3. KoZed, I've been following your sig with great interest... Keep it going. Maybe the Samsonov Jinx will be broken!
  4. I'd also have to agree about Perreault. And with respect to the Niniimaa / Ribeiro trade, whoever said it was a decent gamble said everything I needed to say. Niniimaa isn't great, but we needed a D, and we needed it NOT to be Patrick Reverse. And anything to get rid of Mickey Ribs is a good thing.
  5. Man, I don't envy Gainey his position, but I'm glad he's the one at the helm making the decisions. Could you even imagine if (shudder) Houle was still the GM with something this difficult to decide? It woudl be a TOTAL nightmare. I'm not saying I'm gonna like the decision (my best case is they keep Souray and Markov), but at least whatever happens, I'll know that Gainey put in a thorough and thoughtful analysis and did what he truly believes is best for the team with the resources at his disposal. It's so much easier to cheer for my favourite team with knowledgeable, smart guys running the show. We're spoiled with Gainey and Carbo running the show, and with a dynasty like Montreal, that's how it should be
  6. That's not a dream; that's a nightmare!
  7. It wasn't for lack of trying, that's for sure. They had good chances last game, just both goalies stood on their heads.
  8. Some article last week said that he was likely to need all six weeks to recover, and he was gonna miss the trip to NY in early december, which is too bad for him bc he always plays well, and gets a lot of family / friends in the crowd. Wish I could remember where the article was... sorry can't find the source.
  9. oh, yes, i realize that. I should have actually quoted Habstown, who was asking if Higgins was in NY while rehabbing... I meant that I still think he'd be rehabbing in Montreal.
  10. ???? So you could torture him for leaving ???

    Bonk

I like Nieuwendyk as much as the next guy, but he's got injury problems all the time. Part of being old. very old.
  12. me too... but maybe it's just my hope against hope... Still, for those saying he's talking about signing elsewhere, he said he knows it's a business, but he also said something to the effect of "the grass isn't always greener elsewhere. Maybe I take less pay to stay here".... that gave me hope that at least there's a chance he sticks around.
  13. I would highly doubt that he'd not be in Montreal for rehab. He probably needs to be working with their staff while he gets better. And it's not like it was a 6 month injury where he couldn't do anything but rest for the first 3 months...
  14. Does anyone know if Huet and Auld are credited with Shutouts for last night's game? Do goalies get shutouts when they don't get scored on during regulation and overtime, but do get scored on during the shootout?
  15. hmmm.... I hadn't thought of that.. but the whole article was quite good. Gave me insight into what Souray's thinking from his own mouth, instead of relying on rumours... I was comforted by his saying that the grass isn't necessarily greener elsewhere.
  16. I wouldn't trade him. He's good for the team, as well as I don't think we'd get much back for him this year. I think they should wait until off-season and see if he's willing to take a pay cut to stay, and what the situation is with our more "important" D (Souray, Markov). If it's not gonna work out and we lose him for nothing in the off season, it's not the end of the world. To be honest, I wish they'd resign one of Markov or Souray to an extension during the season and then get the other one back after they test the market... I don't want to lose any of them... we just don't have enough depth on the farm, and as last year proved, this market is not a favourite spot for free agents, so I don't know who we'd be able to attract to replace some one valuable without giving them money we don't have. Simply put, we can't afford others who aren't already not in the city. As well, there's the question of chemistry. Another player might be good elsewhere, but would he work out in Montreal? I want all three of our D back if possible next year. If not and we HAVE to lose Rivet, I'll be sad, but I'll get over it.
  17. I love the record, and I love the fact that they don't give up after they have a horrible 2nd period (like Wednesday against Minny) or a horrible start, but I just wish they'd stop having these horrible stretches in the middle of the game. It's such a cliche, but play 60 minutes already. Eventually, the goalie's not gonna be able to bail them out, and then we'll be in serious trouble. That said, I'm glad that despite the bad play at times, they still have the record they have, I just think it's misleading.
  18. JMMR actually posted this a few weeks ago in another thread. I've actually been checking it daily and the stuffs pretty good. I love mike boone's eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-mail.
  19. Thanks for clarifying... I kept waiting for all the articles the next day to explain, or someone in the game thread, but no one was saying...
  20. I think he means as a line. As far as I noticed, neither of Kovy's points came with the 2nd line intact. Actually, can someone explain what Bonk and Kovy were doing together on the ice on Bonk's goal? and who was the third forward on the ice? I couldn't watch last night. Was Carbo experimenting?
  21. We can't only resign Markov because we have NO depth at D on the farm, so pick your poison, it's either Rivet for cheaper, or what you consider an over-rated Souray (which I disagree with) for more. If we trade for someone, we're still going to have to pay that guy. We have no ready D in the system. About the stupid penalties, can't blame the players for how ridiculous the refs were being last night... Oops, I better stop before the NHL fines me for critisizing the reffing. and about Begin, I totally agree. I say if Plex is staying on the 2nd, we should call up Lapierre, just like you suggested, for 4th line duty. He's perfectly suited for that role, and he deserves a chance with the big club. I think Carbo's just been bringing in the newly-healthy D on the fourth line to ease them in. I don't think he's planning on dressing 7 D on a regular basis.... imo
  22. Thanks, that's great to be reminded Perogie's goal was amazing. He's sooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast... and boy do I miss Higgins. I mean, read that sentence "one handed backhand shorthanded" - This guy is PURE GOLD. Can't wait to get him back.
  23. I don't WANT Rivet gone, I just would rather keep Markov and Souray than Rivet and Souray next year. Rivet's a hard worker, and I like him, but he doesn't compare in talent to some of the others, so I don't like him enough to lose some of our others to keep him. That said, good on him to make that save. Komi had some nice saves last night too is what I'm hearing.
