  1. Habs 6 (Zednik 3, Bulis, Souray, Higgins) 'Yotes 1 (Comrie)
  2. I don't know who was the best fighter, but the most important fight, in my opinion, was the one we had with the Broad Street Bullies in the '76 Cup Final. The Flyers were going for their 3rd consecutive Cup using goon hockey tactics, when the likes of Larry Robinson and Serge Savard, yes Serge Savard, took on Saleski and Schultz in one of those "pick your partner and start pummelling melees", and won both fights pretty decisively. The Flyers were never the same after that particular altercation, and the Habs cruised to another Cup.
  3. not trying to start a rumour, but just a thought....if sykora gets scratched again tonight + there is a late (surprise) scratch by the HABS, look for a trade shortly after the game or even during the game once it starts.
  4. All these trades which involve Souray better bring back another D that is willing to protect his teammates when the opposition starts trying to intimidate us. More than any other player on our team, Souray has the respect of the opposition, something which we lacked before he came on the scene....don't underestimate his presence.
  5. Here's the rundown on Jokinen: #12 Olli Jokinen | C Born: December 5, 1978 Kuopio, Finland Height: 6-3 Weight: 215 lbs. Age: 26 Pronounced: OH lee YOH kuh nehn Shoots: Left Position: C Experience: 7 years Drafted: Year: 1997 Round: 1 Pick: 3, Kings So far in 2005-06: G 12 | A 14 | PTS 26 +/- of minus(-) 4 4 Game Winning Goals 38 PIMs 6 PP Goals 1 SH Goal Average Ice Time: 18:34 Couldn't find his Faceoff % Also, isn't he still the Captain of the Panthers?
  6. I've been impressed by Higgins hard work especially in the offensive corners digging out the puck, cycling and getting a few decent chances.....I think he'd benefit a guy like Zed who seems to be a bit slower of late (perhaps because of the injury) in creating chances.
  7. He reminds me of Rejean Houle (the player)....or as my brother used to call him Mr. GoalPost.....I remember when he used to play on a line with Marc Tardif.....he'd skate like crazy all over the ice and end up hitting the post while Tardif would just stand in front of the net, get the puck, shoot, score, and go back to the bench (with absolutely no celebration). Tardif had it, Houle and Bulis don't.
  8. I can understand some of your frustration, but your logical thinking approach is not taking into account 2 things: (a) injuries........ we've been hit pretty hard; we've almost hit our annual quota already (B) the future......BG is leaving his options open for next year, and at the same time giving the kids a chance to show what they've got.....I would have loved to have picked up Ian Laperriere and/or Adrian Aucoin....they're exactly the kind of players we could use right now, but i trust BG knows exactly what he's doing.
  9. No, no, no! It was because there was a face-off in the corner.
  10. I was at that game at Staples, and those 46 shots were not only quantity, but quality as well.....that is obviously the main reason they traded for him......along the same line, it is ridiculous that the Habs don't come out here (LA or Anaheim) at least once this year.....thank God for Centre Ice!
  11. My condolences to the entire Komisarek family.
  12. C'mon boys, it's real simple.... FORECHECK + BACKCHECK = PAYCHECK!!
  13. If the lines aren't working out, CJ needs to at least establish productive duos as a starting point, and THEN start experimenting to complete the lines. For example, We know that Saku & Kovi (when he returns) are an awesome combo, but what other duos (might) work well together? Maybe...... Ryder/Plex....and ......Higgins/Begin......and Dags/Press Box??
  14. That goal was awesome, but Malik's reaction to it was priceless!
  15. For my first ever post i thought i'd do some research on tonight officials from the NHL's site: http://www.nhlofficials.com/member_listing.asp.... Kevin Pollack...born Kincardine, Ontario Dean Warren.....born Toronto , Ontario Derek Amell....born Pt. Colborne, Ontario Brad Kovalchik......born Woodstock, Ontario Well, well, well ....seems like these 4 boys grew up with that famous leafs inferiority complex.
