  1. Actually, maybe that is what they need to be fighting for 8th spot. I still think the coaching needs an upgrade to make offensive plays and to teach driving to the net. Very few players on this team tough enough to drive the net too. Oh well, go habs go........
  2. Kovalev plays well but cannot finish. When you get paid as one of the top point producers, then he should produce. And Kovalev is not in the same class as Vinny. Two different guys, one leads while the other is more of supporting star class. The thing I like best about Kovalev is his desire to bring the puck to the net and try to do crafty moves. Unfortunately age has caught up to him and it just dont work the way it used to. Plus he gives the puck away too much. After this year he wont be with the Habs, I hope.
  3. Sure you can, play for the Leafy losing centre of the universe. Just ask Toskala or Pogge.
  4. Actually the one very good aspect of Habsworld is that the moderating seems to keep the extreme hostility out. If someone calls you an idiot, it is due to their brain cramp set in by having watched the Ribero chicken dance when he played for the Habs and faked injury. I have enjoyed the arguements here and realize I need my Habsworld front page news! The reason people leave is mostly due to not being in the click or an arguement gone too far. If someone drives you crazy here ignore them, it works.
  5. It is an interesting trade idea, however it is a sideways move. The team we have is the team Gainey built and we have to live with this. I am beginning to believe the problem now is mental lapses in the defensive zone which along with injuries is killing the dream. If Montreal makes a trade it better be for the future. I am looking forward to a few guys next year not being with the team so as a new influx will help move the team forward. Untill then, go HABS, go Kovalev. (groan)
  6. Patience, patience, patience.... Montreal will be better with a little practice. The first period that I saw was not that bad. Even though happiness is not in my heart for this season I will cheer the team on. I even kept my RDS sub and only watch the good periods. If they play bad, I turn off the TV. I will never feel bad about losing to Calgary as the flames are a good squad. Go Habs...
  7. Worst thing to happen to the Habs is the injuries. Guys do not come back from injury 100%. Carbo does not set his lines correctly and constantly changing lineups. I am not a fan of Kovalev, however he would have a legitimate complaint that he has no set centre. This team is in 5th place because they played good hockey before the massive injuries and that is the root cause of the problem. Also, the defense is weaker than we all think. Not bad with the top 4, after that it is pretty depressing... Top 4 D and top centre is a must.
  8. "Maple Leafs rookie Mikhail Grabovski was a healthy scratch last night against the Buffalo Sabres -- the first time this season the young centre has been banished to the press box. Grabovski has 13 goals and 13 assists in 48 games this season, but his indifferent play of late prompted head coach Ron Wilson to scratch him from the lineup. Grabovski played just over 10 minutes in Toronto's 4-3 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night and only has one point since returning from a three-game suspension on Jan. 16. LINK
  9. I have to agree with BTH. Coach Carbo is so entrenched in playing the supposed stars even after injury that the young guys are an after thought. For Montreal to go forward, they must go forward with the youth infusion that started when Bob Gainey signed on to the team. I absolutely adore Koivu not only as a habs, but as a human being. He is a very good player but not a top line centre. Montreal must address this lack of top centre or at least another top 4 Defenseman if they are to move forward. To resign Lang, Kovalev or Koivu is just another sideways move handicapping Montreals salary cap. Time to move on as Montreal was a BETTER team with Higgins and Koivu out of the lineup. (Previously INJURED Players are not in game shape and make a team step backwards until they are back in said game shape)
  10. I find it funny that a below average coach has the nerve to throw his goalie under the bus. This team is not ready to play 50% of their games, and cheap shots at a goalie is only to cover up bad coaching. Also, there seems to be some venom towards the team in this thread. No the Habs do not suck. They are an average team finding their way in a tougher division this year. Having a winning record is good and I am happy for that. Having Stanley cup expectations this year is a stretch. Thank you BG for not signing the Floater overpaid soon to be Free agents. Habs always rule in my mind, and I have accepted their fate this year. I do look forward to the youth infusion next year and hope BG does not get suckered into huge contracts for superfloat Kovalev or my favourite player Koivu. Nothing personal, just business.... BTH, not pointing you out, just wanted to expand on your comment. You are an excellent poster on this board! :hlogo:
  11. Can we go back to having the injured players who came back go back on the IR please! Plus I am making up a rumour that Breeze(I give up the puck)by and BooBoo(I cannot play defense) are going to Boston for future considerations. This will guarantee Boston will lose 50% more games this year.... :puke: :puke: :puke: I do like the up and trying young players. Now if Montreal could get one guy to finish plays and a decent #4 or #5 defenseman I would be content.
  12. Watching BooBoo and the Breeze Bye characters attempt at hockey has forced me to drink Alcohol while watching Habs games. I RANT on GAINEY...what were you thinking?????
  13. It does not bug me that Habs lost to Warshington (Sothern Republican lingo). It does not bother me that Habs are injured. The things that do bother me start mostly with that big FLOATER wearing the "C" tonight. I just don't give a -censored- about this team any longer. There was enough talent on the Habs to score at least two goals tonight. It is the same excuse going back to last year. Too many floaters and not enough tough Euros, Yanks, Russians, Cannuks! Well, I am outa here until next season and cannot wait for the overpaid free agents to be gone so Bob Gainey can revamp this team properly. Going to spend my Habby time on the Dogs to see which of the guys that may make it to the big club. Hopefully Gainey sees the light and trades Kovalev, Koivu, Lang and Tanguay(although I would like to see him back) at the deadline and raids other teams youth. Young core looks good, just have to add by subtracting overpaid dead weight. All I can say is Draft Habs Draft! Whats that song that should accompany my whine? "I've lost that loving feeling nows its gone..gone..gone.. Oh-oo-oo-oo.....
  14. Self proclaimed hockey centre of the universe will sign him....
  15. Coaches corner has a coach. Funy I did not know CBC actually had anyone with hockey credibility on a coaches show. I thought they had a self proclaimed redneck DUMMY that craps little mapleleafs and bleeds teddy bears. (both loser hockey teams by the way) :puke:
  16. At least the score was close. If the Habs actually had some designed plays (Other than watching Kovalev give the puck away consistantly) this team would be in a much better position to destroy lower teams like NYI. I still blame coaching or lack of coaching as these guys design nothing offensively for the players to execute.
  17. I am glad I am old enough to remember the glory years of winning and players caring about wins. My thoughts: If you have to rely on officials to win a game, the team sucks. Great teams win the 5 on 5 battles and finish scoring chances by hitting the net. There are three highly paid players that will be free agents I hope will never wear a Habs jersey again after this year. They do not earn their paycheque and just...............suck....................... :puke:
  18. What disease is a CBC? Constricted Boneheaded Cranium syndrome? Habs will win tonight so that we can be very critical of a victory. Its human nature as we are habs Fans
  19. Running the goalie is inconsistant with referees. Leafs had a goal scored against them with their goalie being wiped out and it counted. The Montreal goal was similar, with much less contact and didn't count. At least the NHL is consistant at being inconsistant! Sort of like the Habs games this year........... Ooops almost forgot; good job HABS getting the big "W" in the books with another victory.
  20. Thankyou Habs for a fun game; and Coach Komisarek for your boisterous instructions to the team.. K-Rex looked impressive in a suit and coaching guys to play hard. Although he was probably more cheering for the team like us than coaching!
  21. Tonight is a start over for this team. Must work hard, do not cough up the puck and drive the net. Go Habs... ---------------------------------- Brian Burke sucks just like da loafs!
  22. If you could get Kovalchuk you would be a hockey hero in Quebec!
  23. Can fanpuck please press the reboot button start this game over? Oppps I mean Simon please restart the thread
