  1. Yea, i think it's a must win for the the division title. There playing a team that has there 3rd game in 4 nights. The habs are well rested and should have a little to prove for leaving Price out to dry in the third against the Sens.
  2. Well i was all ready to say that was the best game i have seen out of the habs in a long time and then the third period came. They should be embarrassed with how they left Price out to dry lin the third. All in all it's a critical 2 points and they locked up the playoffs. So they should be given credit for that. Habs fans should just enjoy the ride with a team that very few people including myself thought would be this good let alone make a playoff spot. They could be very dangerous if they play klike the first 2 periods, then again they could get swept right out if they play like the third. The Habs are very young and doing alot of good things, people should be proud of that.
  3. Kessler, i forgot about him.
  4. The offense could use a wakeup call as well. 10 goals in 6 games. Pretty bad.
  5. Besides, the simple answer is if BG wants him, he'll sign him. Simple as that. There have only been 2 players who were offered sheets and only 1 poached. Penner had a monster year and Edmonton couldn't get anyone to ge there. I doubt this is a trend and Halak and his whopping 21 games won't be offered anything except by BG.
  6. Unless they figure out how to stop the first line they won't win either game. I can't beleive i missed a good physical game (by the habs) on Saturday. Maybe they'll do it again tonight. The D zone can't keep giving up 35-40 shots a night, this will bite them against good offensive teams. I'm hoping for atleast an OT loss.
  7. Yep, i can't even remember the last time i saw a game where i said, "Wow, that habs guy really kicked his a$$" At this point I would settle for a Habs player just getting a roughing call every now and again. I'm tired of the hooking and holding penalties.
  8. Yes, don't let the fact that you watch the habs play distort what you are watching. There were no cheap shots last night. I thought St.Loius was way more physical then the Bruins. The Habs are generally soft, small and not physical. So when other teams do it to them it looks worse then it is. Great examples: Miller made a save, the forward came in and sprayed him. 3 Sabres came to his aid, pushed and crossed checked him. This happens with most teams. The Habs just turn there heads most of the time. If Miller would have been run like Price someone would have dropped Thornton immediately. The Habs just need to toughen up or playoffs will be over quickly.
  9. Losing Komi will hurt. Hopefully he he'll be back before the playoffs. This is why they signed Brisby. He can step in for the short term. They only have 2 games in the next week, Saturday and Monday before Buffalo next Friday. So having Brisby in for 2 games won't hurt much. It's not like they shut down the Sens with Komi. I was wondering which team would show up, the good or the bad. It liked like both. They were dominated in the first and came back to play pretty solid the last 2 periods. The D zone was awful again. Too many turnovers, too many 1 on 1 battles lost, couldn't clear the zone. Close to 40 shots against again. The Koivu line is deadly in all 3 zones. Good news: The habs had a more physical lineup in. Played tougher but still got thrown around alot. Price was excellent again. The top line looked very good. The 4th line was good, forechecking and hitting 1 more win should get them in. Howeverm they can control who they play. They don't want the Rangers, Sens or Carolina.
  10. Yep, good points. Atleast they put in a couple of tough forwards and O'Byrne so they can atleast throw a body check. I think the St. Loius game was ano hitter. Atleast they have some confidence against the Bruins. They aren't going to beat the Sens, there scared of them.
  11. I think they got pretty good depth. They could anyone for a short period of time. Markov and Komi would be at the top of the list for me. A Kosty is smothered a bit by playing with Kovalev (handles the puck alot). The Kosty brothers with pleks would still produce points for the short term. For a playoff run Kovalev they would miss the most.
  12. I'm only scared of games against particular opponants. It's more trying to figure out which Habs team will actaully show up. The hard working, smart, defensively tough team. Or the team that takes dumb penalties (Koivu, Kovalev), stands around and leaves the goalies out to dry for about 40 shots. They haven't clinched anything yet. There motivation should be # 1 overall which they can get with a win.
  13. He isn't a priority to have re signed. Emelin probably is. All reports say he has a cannon from the point. Also SK can take Steit's spot on the PP. He really isn't that important to the teams future.
  14. Well that was a 45 minute no show. The 8-12 games have been pretty weak. Especially defensively. I love all the excuses. Officiating? give me a break, the habs had 6 straight PP's. Coaching? For the poster who said GC should have picked someone else, how about this, the players didn't make the shots. Simple as thta, blame them. It wouldn't matter who he picked in the shoot out, if they missed someone would still say it was a bad choice. Wamsley is correct about being young, learning how to win and being inconsistent. The other problems currently are work ethic, it shouldn't matter what kind of team you have, work ethic will win you alot of games. That line up is very smurf like, that is 3 smurfs at centre, and one soft player. That will not cut it in the playoffs. They need to get a tougher line up in. The D zone which was very good at times, seems to be doing the usual standing around waiting for something bad to happen. For god sakes, shoot the damn puck. I've never seen a team pass up so many shooting opportunities just to make a bad play. The turnovers at both blue lines has been very noticable the 10-12 games. Thye were completely man handled all night long. Just a tip for Koivu, you should probably cover the open guy in front of the net. I have no idea what Komi was doing there either. They got lucky to get a point. Hopefully this will be a wake up call or GC needs to bench someone. It's about time for that again. If they thought St. Louis was tough, wait until the playoffs or Buffalo, Ottawa and Boston down the stretch.
  15. Some of the scratched are fine, it gives the more physical players days off coming down the stretch. If they win tonight they will probably only need 1 more victory to make the playoffs. GC will then have some options down the stretch, resting certain players, going for # 1 overall, things like that. A game or 2 off for Kovalev, Koivu, Markov and Komi certainly wouldn't hurt. Especially since they have hungry youth looking for ice time. The old habs would normally pull a no show. Hopefuly they'll remember the Columbus no show and learn from it. I am interested to see what kind of effort they give. If they show up with playoff intensity they should be able to double the Blues up. 4-2 something like that.
  16. Amazing since GC system is so darn stiffling for offensive players.
  17. Neech, i present the good news as well as the bad. I say who had good nights and who doesn't. I picked them 10th, so i'm the one eating crow right now anyway. As a team they have certainly surprised me. Certain players have disappointed. I just hope the D zone tightens up soon. 40 shots against every night isn't playoff hockey, that's the old habs.
  18. It won't be goaltending that let's them down in the playoffs. It will be poor effort, soft play and poor defensive zone covrage. The habs need more grit, size and character to move on. The good news is that any playoff experience will be good for the rookies, Higgins, pleks, komi and Lapierre.
  19. I think it has more to do with unrealistic expectations from fans and media. 20-30 goals from Lats, Higgins, Ryder, Kovalev, Pleks and Koivu were probably expected. Most will be close. The Kosty brothers were wild cards. The rest of the players goals are gravy. The Dmen have really chipped in and helped with point production.
  20. Well it's safe to say 4 points on the road trip was about what everyone expected. However they only outplayed the opponants 1 out of 12 periods. I guess the goalies were the only ones who got the memo about the habs going on a road trip. Good News: 4 points Goalies played great. Bad news: Outshot in 11 of 12 periods Out hit 11 out of 12 periods Played the entire 4 games in there own end Zero effort Don't blame the refs last night, the habs were totally dominated. Against playoff type hockey (more physical) this team is going to struggle. The games are getting tougher and i haven't seen much of a playoff effort from the habs. They haven't clinched anything yet. The need to play significantly better down the stretch, home ice advantage, controlling who they play, the style they play. Cross country journey again, the Devils will bomb them Tuesday. We'll definitely see in the very near future what kind of team they will be going into the playoffs. They are playing the Sens, Bruins and Buffalo all needing points. Which team will show up.
  21. Where did all those Price bashers go? Some people need to relax on the kid. He is 4-1 and has only given more then 2 goals once in the last 5. Goaltending isn't the problem with the team. When the Habs don't show up, they look really bad and hang the goalie out to dry. I thought Hamrlik and Lats played well, atleast you noticed them. Kovalev had a great 10 minutes as did the team. I'll assume the team knows they laid an egg and owe the orginization one for the mini vacation. Maybe a practice this morning with no sticks and pucks will do the trick. I think Halak will get one over the weekend. Hopefully we'll see the good habs team for him . All in all 2 points is a great thing after playing like they did.
  22. Better in the playoffs? Thye like 10 playoff wins in 10 years or something like that. The only series they won was because of one player Theodore. Kovalev and Hamrlik are the only 2 players with significant playoff experience and production.
  23. Grabovski type numbers? He has a grand total of 4 points and is a minus 2.
  24. I bet you would have seen a positive response if anyone on his team stood up for his goalie and took a penalty. Someone ran Miller last night, immedaite fight and scrum. Standing up for your teammates will get a good response from your coach. Sometimes it looks like his head is going to explode when the habs (see koivu) takes one of there stupid, lazy hooking penalties.
  25. Well i think the refs balance out over the year. The devils game the habs got a gift 5 on 3 with 6 minutes left. That was a weak call. So i never complain about the refs, they give some, they take some away. I was more disapointed that know one stepped up to defend Price
