There is no way forward for Canadian style multiculturalism in the Gulf. They have a tiny population of local Arabs(20% of the pop.) surrounded by expatriates who do most of the work. My point was that accomodation is fine but we should expect a certain degree of assimilation from people who want to live in Canada and become citizens. There is no reason why Muslims--OR ANY OTHER GROUP-- should be given rights or privledges that other Canadians do not receive.

i did indeed. you know what pierre you have enlightened me i had a long hard think this weeknd on my political views, and i suppose people like you and i are lucky to live where we live- i moan about immigrants but at the end of the day non of us are truly of any nationality- we were just lucky to come out of vagina in the country we came out of it in all be it england or canada-so why should i hate on people who are jsut trying to do the best by them and their families?

The Swedish National Team sucks pretty badly too. We had a golden opportunity on Wednesday to secure a spot in the Euro 2008 with a win against Northern Ireland, a team that we're better than, a team that we were playing at home, a team that had only two wins on the road in the last 27 qualifying games, a team that has not played as well lately as they did in the beginning of this qualifying campaign. And we go out and fall right into their style of football. Everything we said beforehand that we wanted to avoid is exactly what happened. It was the worst game the team has played in ages.
We only need one point in the remaining two games (Spain away, Latvia at home) and if we can't manage that we don't deserve to be in the Euro 2008.
I feel bad for the Scots but I must admit I'll laugh myself silly if England doesn't qualify. I still can't understand why they always think they're the best football country in the world. If they don't qualify and don't pick up on the reality check that would be, then they should all have their eyes - or heads - examined.
we dont think that to be honest thiers only rooney and ferdinand who are world class in the england team- the rest are average.

No it doesn't. As I said in my earlier post, opposing the imposition of the religious opinions of any minority on the majority is simply common sense. Why should Canada be the most accomodating country on Earth? Why should immigrants be granted special privledges? Trying going to an Arabian Gulf country and get any rights and see how far you get.
i agree but their is a counter arguement that two wrongs dont make a right and canada not being a backwards fundamentalist state should show other countries like those in the middle east the way forward in multiculturalism- you agree pierre?

i dont work part time i used to just after finishing college, until i found a job i liked- but then i got laid off but didnt go on the dole because id saved some money from my part time job.

thats fine in principal pierre i agree with it- thatd be great- i just dont agree with the robin hood ways of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, i think people have to take some responisbility for themselves.
for instance i believe unless i win the lottery or i am in a major accident where i become disabled and cant work that i will work for the rest of my life- pay taxes and if i lose a job i will try my hardest to go out and find one because i feel shameful claiming benefits off other people who work hard (fortunatley i havent had to do so yet altho i have been unemployed for a month - i was clever enough to put some away for a rainy day- and that was on part time wages).
so if i can do it- and im not the most easy person to motivate to work then why cant everyone- i knwo theirs only so many jobs- but in britain now you can earn as much in benefits as you can working (basically you can claim dole if your working only upto 16 hours a week) so a lot of people try and get part time work and then scrounge a decent income off the rest of us.
i jsut dont think its fair one bit. maybe by me saying evryone should be responsible for themselves then nobody should inherit and im being a hypocrit? i dont know. im not saying it makes a person a worse human being for not working- but if everyone had that attitude then what would society be like?

My freind has recently got a job in an elderly peoples home as a carer, out of curiosity i sked him to find out how elderly people who have no savings afford to live their (it costs in canadian terms about $1000 a week).
Here is what he found out for me:
If you have a house and/or any savings you pay for it yourself through selling your house or through your savings.(so that means your kids/grandkids dont inherit anything)
If not- so basically if you havent worked a day in your life and been a bum pretty much all your life guess what- its free the government pay for it.
personally i think its an utter disgrace and completly unjust.
