  1. Armia has some value but not $3.5M, that was wishful thinking by Bergevin. Anderson is a much more difficult problem.
  2. Habs' starting lines: Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovský Roy - Newhook - Armia Anderson - Evans - Gallagher Pearson - White - Ylonen Matheson - Guhle Xhekaj - Savard Harris - Kovacevic Allen Primeau
  3. Not directly the fiscal situation (ie how is the cash flow of the team, or the balance sheet). It's just an estimate of what someone might be willing to pay for the team. It's more to do with the financial potential of the team rather than the current state--and the prestige level of owning said team. That prestige will entice billionaires to buy, but a team in Winnipeg will generally be less desirable than one in Toronto, NYC or LA, for example. Whether they sell 2000 more season tickets or not really won't make much of a difference in that perceived value. Which is why I really wouldn't use the estimated franchise value as a proxy for the team's financial performance, any more than I would use the estimated brand value to judge whether TikTok does better financially than BMW.
  4. Franchise value doesn't directly affect the team, that's like the stock price. It's the perceived value of the team, but having a higher (estimated!) value doesn't bring any additional revenue to the team. And while 5th-lowest is not high on the NHL scale, it does not necessarily mean that it's not a viable team. We really don't have enough data to determine that.
  5. Outshot the Marlies 37-29 but lost 4-1. Woll is definitely a good goalie by AHL standards!
  6. It looked like Kloten might avoid the relegation round but the current five-game losing streak has them solidly in the bottom two in the league.
  7. Maybe yes. But tickets are far from the only income source. I expect the TV contract will bring the Jets much more revenue than Arizona, Anaheim or Caroline etc will get. Merchandising is another facet, don't know how well that works for the Jets. But, for sure, ticket revenue is not the only determining factor.
  8. Indeed. And slight difference in the level of hockey. My point was that the size of the city is not the only thing. The product and the price matter, too.
  9. 13,000 average attendance is not just a question of the size of the city. London gets more than 9,000 to their OHL games!
  10. I think they expect Gignac to clear thanks to the two-year contract (with $150K minimum) that he signed. Barry, err, Colin White is a centre as well so I assume they need Gignac in Laval and thus White will fill in.
  11. I think the Devils are still entertaining hopes about a playoff run so likely looking for immediate help rather than a draft pick.
  12. Sens now three points behind but three games in hand. Maybe they could win one or two? Clearly these two teams are our nemeses for the draft positions.
  13. Couldn't watch tonight, but an entertaining close game seems all right, especially with Roy and Xhekaj playing well. Sabres now two points clear of the Habs which is not a bad thing. Wins will come more often next year.
  14. Canadiens: Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsku Armia - Evans - Gallagher Roy - Newhook - Anderson Pearson - Gignac - Ylonen Matheson - Guhgle Struble - Savard Xhekaj - Harris Montembeault Primeau Sabres: Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Benson - Krebs - Peterka Greenway - Mittelstadt - Cozens Robinson - Girgensons - Okposo Dahlin - Jokiharju Bryson - Clifton Clague - Johnson Luukkonen Comrie
  15. Which veterans (besides Anderson) do you think have suffered from St-Louis coaching? I think Monahan, Matheson, Armia, Kovacevic have all benefited, I think. Savard seems no worse. Gallagher and Pearson?
  16. Maybe there is a GM out there that thinks he can make Anderson productive. And if there is, maybe we could take back a smaller bad contract ... OK, it's really stretch, I know. In the meantime, fourth-line minutes would be appropriate. Give the ice time to younger players who need it. (The sad thing is that Anderson is only 29, a year younger than Armia and only two years older than Evans.)
  17. I think it would be easier to move him if the Habs retain 50% and collect some modest draft pick in trade.
  18. 1. Hutson 2. Reinbacher 3. Roy 4. Beck 5. Mailloux 6.Engstrom 7. Mesar 8. Heineman 9. Farrell 10. Kapanen I don't rank goalie prospects, they, you know ... 😂
  19. Nothing is for certain--not even Suzuki and Caufield, one never knows--but I think Dach has shown enough that I'm comfortable that he has the potential to be a key contributor. Now, we still need to realize the potential, but it's certainly far closer than that of a potential top-ten draft pick in this year's draft.
  20. Good genes are real, but those, like the development/training, are already baked into what that prospect is today, it's unlikely that anyone's genes ("pedigree") will result in a huge improvement (relative to other prospects) after the draft.
  21. Wouldn't Dach meet that description, too?
  22. Newhook looked good tonight. Add Dach, and we almost have a second line.
