  1. Nothing wrong with back to back games, it's the same teams playing. Back to back games are BS when it's an ambush thing: One team plays, gets on a plane, flys to new city where fresh team is waiting to ambush them. If anything this situation favours the habs since they have more youth.
  2. The L'orielle song sucks, just a zombie nation ripoff, I prefer vertigo (and I dont even really like U2)
  3. Sens playing the puck carrier super agressive for their PK, especially at point to neutralize markov/streit setups. If they could get it low, some cross crease setups could be easy.
  4. That backhand deke Higgins tried doesnt work unless you can reliably roof it on the backhand. Only the best scorers (Koivu and Kovalev, but Koivu has better moves) can, remember how many times Ryder tried it last year in shootout?
  5. So that was a nice 20 minute PK drill, is it the habs' turn now?
  6. Just wait 10-20 years, this shouldnt even be debated now.
  7. Lapierre blew that one, right by the loose puck and does some weak lil 1 hand poke at it.
  8. The game is for the habs' to take. Buffalo threw everything at Price, and could only come up with one garbage goal. They played yesterday, and just ended their two fierce periods with a turnaround goal in the last minute. If the habs come out flying, Buffalo will really be hard pressed, and Miller ain't no Price this season.
  9. Great period, they stuck to the plan: Get it deep, put pressure on the sens D (who are a pretty mediocre bunch), and take it to Gerber (who we know the habs can own).
  10. As I said in the other game thread...for the love of god call up an AHL D-man!! It's gonna be an ugly 3 weeks if they need to rely on briesbois and streit, especially in the playoffs.
  11. Id rather the habs call up a guy like Biron or Cote than play Briesbois. THere's a reason the habs are .500 with him in the lineup, he stinks.
  12. Up now. Check the right hand side. Zone Video. http://www.rds.ca/video/visionneuse.html Awesome Kovalev!
  13. Damn I missed Kovalev's goals, just caught the 3rd. Hurry up and get your highlights up RDS!!!
  14. They had their chances... Those two 2 v 1 where they tried the double pass instead of trying to bury shoots where the had a lot of net. I think Kovalev was one, forget the other. Lots of hart, top corner shots by Kovalev, Markov, A. Kostytsin that missed net. Hell even in the shootout, Koivu had Legacy twisted in a knot and a wide open net, put it on the post. Habs couldn't bury those, Blues played a gutsy, hard forechecking game, blocked passing, and pulled off the extra point. Ok game, a bit frustrating, bank the point and be psyched for the big bad bruins.
  15. Anything over 1.5 million is nuts. He is basically just a flawed 3rd line player who can be a decent point forward on the PP, but really nothing special. He is a one way 3rd line player who is decent in the offensive zone, BUT he is pretty bad in his own end (the reason he isn't playing D anymore). Oh yeah and he doesn't hit either. So basically he's only good if the 3rd line is supposed to be a scoring line. He gets tons of time on the best PP in league, and has managed to pick up 30 points there by shovelling passes to wizards like Markov and Kovalev. Really now, I could probably get at least 20 points playing between those two guys. This is the exact same thing as Souray last year, haven't we learned yet?? His "versatility' is a joke, he is an awful dman, which is why Carbo would rather put Briesbois there over him. He is very soft, small and his decision making with the puck isn't exactly brilliant. With all the blue chip talent on D coming up, there is no reason his "d ability" should be valued. Really I hope some dumb eastern conference GM offers him 12 million for 4 years. I will be laughing when the habs play that team and the Kostytsins make swiss cheese of him while he flops around on D, and then gets plastered when he tries his pee-wee board bouncing move on his crappy PP rushing against Komisarek (or misses the net by a mile with his wild slapshot).
  16. Id say he's most likely to start Tuesday.. ride the shutout. I would understand if Carbo had some reasons for playing Price though.
  17. Also if things are flat he shouldnt be afraid to break up the Kovalev line. Mixing it up to kostytsins + pleks and then Kovalev + Koivu and either Higgins/Lats/Ryder would work. He's done this a few times and it looked pretty good. Forces the other team's coach to scramble to come up with counters, potentially disrupting their gameplan.
  18. OT but does Volchenkov look good out there for Ottawa or what? He's a very good defensive D-man.
  19. Well yeah but the point is for a really good vet 3rd line winger we probably wouldn't be able to re-sign Streit. Again keep in mind S. Kostytsin played the point on the PP in junior and they're using him there on the 2nd PP pairing with Hamrlik. I'd say he is both a better shooter and passer than Streit. I don't think Carbo really wants to break up Markov-Streit yet this year, but if our playoff adversaries really start to key in on Streit on the PP he may have to.
  20. Some more dynamic and less predictable lines would help IMO. I think Carbo is working on that with the new pairings he's testing out against the Isles and some weaker teams this week. A high energy 3 line attack (Grabs centering the 3rd) would place less burden on Kovalev's line to break things open (a line the Sens were choking up bigtime). The 4th line should be a cannonball line of Lapierre, Kostopoulos and Begin (when he's back, man I miss this guy, a great hitter, but his body seems to be falling apart, they might rest him to the playoffs) to go nuts on Spezza and Alfredson early in game, maybe crash Gerber.
  21. Well we have the cash for at least a few years, which is why Gainey could find a vet who doesn't expect a 5 year contract. I think Gainey has been looking for this for that past few years with Bonk and Smolenski, maybe this time he could stop going into the bargain bin and get a top shelf role player like a Fedorov/Modano calibre vet roleplayer. I really think Streit is overrated personally. I know a lot of people here are pretty keen on him so I don't feel like getting into a huge arguement, but he is definitely the weak link on the PP, something we have seen teams focusing more and more on lately, we will continue to see this like we saw against Ottawa and Anaheim. If we're looking to improve our team, a really smart two way 3rd line vet who could play the point on the PP and PK.
  22. Personally I'd like to see Streit go and Bob sign an upgrade over him. A really smart 2-way forward who could play point on PP and be better defensively as a forward (Streit is terrible in our zone) role. I think one day S. Kostytsin will be this guy on the PP but he's not yet, anyways its not bad to have one for both PP lines.
  23. There is no difference between Canadians and Americans. We are the same nations of British people foundation, and then broad European immigration over 250 years, we are just different sovereign borders because of a short political war 250 years ago. Culturally there are only minute differences between Canadian and Americans as a broad nation, it's when you get into subgroups there is a real difference, but it is the same in the states. The difference between New York, Texas and San Fransisco is greater (but still pretty insignificant) than the broad difference between "Canadians" and "Americans". Same goes for Canada, the is more of a difference between the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontarion, the Prairies and Coastal BC than "America".
  24. Shows were terrible, cost too much, and nobody watched them, thus unprofitable. Only the communist broadcasting corporation would make excuses about hockey for the reason some of their crappy, unwatched and money losing shows would get canned. Do you see CBS blaming new fall season bombs on CSI rating dips?? Unreal.
