  1. This would be my first choice. I always liked Mara, and wasn't happy both times they let him walk.
  2. I totally agree the D looked questionable besides Gorges in his own end, and Diaz on the attack. It all just seemed to fall apart after Campoli left the game. Which in a way is not a good sign for our d to depend on 1 guy. Diaz should get better with time, I also expect PK to round into form by home opener. My biggest problem of the night was Pleky on the point which others here have stated. And the misuse of Cole and ak46. Especially Cole needs to build chemistry so he needs consistent linemates. Perhaps new coaching staff needs a few games to build chemistry with each other and the players?
  3. If we can stay relatively healthy we'll be fine. I just hope the Campoli injury isn't a sign of what's to come. As far as us looking flat on opening night of course it's sucks and I hate losing to the leafs, but most good teams tend to take a while to get going, and most bottom feeders start out hot, it's the same year after year after year. Just as I was sure that Cherry was gonna be Moronic, I knew we would lose. I just figured it was gonna be 5-4 or something like that. Actually I wasn't so sure we were gonna lose, I was more sure that the leafs would play a playoff type game, as they were in pre season. It won't last though. I'm not saying there gonna miss the Playoffs, but they are surely inferior to us, not just on paper, but the intangibles. I think we have one of if not the best leadership cores in the league. Not to mention depth.
  4. Win or lose, 1 game in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean much, it's a marathon not a race. Remember the leafs played mostly regulars all pre season, while this was really our 2nd game together. If this game is the reason we miss the Playoffs then we don't deserve to be their anyways. Last year the leafs started 4-0-1, they planned the parade. Then we all know what happened. After 10 games if we still look this way, then it's a coaching problem. I just want us to win the home opener and build from that, cause Sunday in Winnipeg is gonna be very difficult unless the jets are too nervous, but probably not.
  5. "I wanna be proud of our sport, not ashamed" Now to think about it, I think 2011 is gonna go down in history as the worst hockey year possibly in history, Iy started with Sid gettin hurt. To patches, then the Bruins winning the cup, tragic summer. I hope it already hit its lowest, and hopefully with Shanahan the overall product of the game improves also. Even if they take out fighting and "finishing" your checks, I think it would be more exciting to watch, the excessive violence and injuries are pointless and only hurts the game.
  6. Yeah as much as I dislike him, he's got that one right. I definitely want to see equipment size reduced. I remember I read an article from Wayne Gretzky, and he said, that when he broke in the league that during practice they wouldn't where helmets or shoulder pads, this way the hitting was softer, and the shots were lower. So if they did that in practice it would translate into the way the approached the real games.
  7. Today is is big chance to prove his consistency with that worthless Malone.
  8. 45-32-5 record for 95 points 6th East 15th League 239 GF
  9. I'm liking the consistency with Shanny. Is he also in charge of the officials? If he is I hope he makes their jobs easier to provide more consistency, cause, as far as their concerned their still as random and inconsistent as Colin Campbell was. It's only pre-season, and the refs are frustrating me already. If we have another season where the habs are amongst the league leaders in minors, there is certainly something wrong here.
  10. Exactly consistency is the key here, he's human and he's gonna make some mistakes. I would have loved to see him set up some automatic sentences for certain things like charging, blindsides, elbows, and of course headshots, those are just examples, that would improve consistency. Also repeat offenders would get an extra game added per offence on top of the automatic. This would help the officials, and the teams would feel justice, and not feel the need to get revenge. Just my opinion, but either way a good start for Shanny.
  11. Hope everyone had a great summer, it feels good to be on the brink of a new season. Anyways about this topic, I would like to see Mara signed to a two way deal. He would be a great mentor to the kids and a excellent call up option if needed, especially at playoff time. I'm really surprised no one has signed him or at least given him a camp invite.
  12. That's why I said I have no idea. For all any of us know he could just as easily score 30 goals or defect the the system, or become an assistant captain. All My point was trying to say is that, Moen may not have the statistics to prove he's worth his salary, but he brings leadership, kind of the same reasons that we kept Gill.
  13. Thank God. It's about time, and Shanahan better re-invent the whole process. Like making automatic discipline for different infractions.
  14. Stats don't tell the whole story, I mean I have no idea, but if he truly is a bad teammate then he is a big risk.
  15. Damn 6 would be overpaying, I say next years playoffs will determine Prices salary more then the regular season. Price was brilliant this year, but we shouldn't empty the bank because a good season. I would like to see his next contact take him too ufa making 4 tops, By then we will have a large enough sample size to see what kind of goalie he will be.
  16. Didn't Halak get 4.75 for 4 years, that sounds good for price 4.5-4.75 for 4 or 5 years. I use Halak because he is much better the MA Fleury.
