  1. As per H I/O "Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of free agent defenseman Raphael Diaz to a one-year, two-way contract (2011-12). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Raphael Diaz, who we strongly believe has all the attributes to play in the NHL. Raphael is a defenseman with excellent offensive and defensive skills, who constantly improved his play over the years. We look forward to seeing him at training camp,” said Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier. Diaz registered 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists) in 45 games with EV Zug in 2010-11. Diaz, 25, displayed a +14 plus/minus differential and served 26 penalty minutes. In eight complete seasons with EV Zug, the 5’11’’, 194 lbs defenseman totaled 118 points (33 goals, 85 assists) with 212 penalty minutes in 352 games. Diaz, who is part of the Swiss team at the 2011 World Championship in Slovakia, collected four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in six games. He maintained a +3 plus/minus differential, while playing 20:52 in average per game. A native of Baar, Switzerland, Diaz played for EV Zug (junior) from 2001-02 to 2003-04. He was part of the Swiss team at the 2005 and 2006 World Junior Championships, and at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics."
  2. I think players match organaizations. Bruins and philly always dirty regardless of players, coaches, managers, or captains. Toronto always sucks and makes bad deals, habs always quick and talented. You can see this with all teams that have been around for a while.
  3. Huh interesting. Thanks for the tidbit.
  4. So we keep his rights regardless of how long he stays overseas?
  5. So please list me playmakers who gather points when you only have one winger who finishes your passes. I'm not saying Gomez is full value for his contract , but very few in the league who make over 5 million are. Is Luongo worth his contract, Is lecavalier, the Sedins? Heck Dion phaneuff makes more. My point is everyone has a overpaid player. Some people talk about other teams being ruthless to do what it takes to win, but las time I checked the rangers or Edmonton are far from being winners, they are they only teams who have done this I think. Edmonton will be good one day due go tanking it for many years and stockpiling draft picks, not because they dumped Souray. The rangers have yet to show that dumping Redden did anything either. My point Gomez is just one of many many overpaid players around the league, he is here to stay for now, he is valuable to this team and he cares, so let Gauthier worry about the numbers we should just be ready for a very promising season next year.
  6. Give Gomez a decent winger who can finish and suddenly all will be well, I mean Gomez basically assisted on all of Gio's goals so add another 30 goal man and Gomez will suddenly be "producing".
  7. I'm hoping that none of them go. This way they rest and will not have anything on their minds other then next season
  8. Come on guys let's just enjoy the ride wherever it leads
  9. Lol Appreciate your threads all year too bar.
  10. Sorry I missed Gdt cut off time, I just got in. Seeing all the work you do here Brian it's fitting that you do this one. Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Tsn is saying Desharnais is out 4-6 weeks.
  12. I doubt he will be suspended since he got 5 and a game, but who knows with Colin Csmbell
  13. Price was super clutch in the 3rd after a nervous start, now he has that darn bell centre monkey off his back. I am 1-0 in the Gtd. Ole Ole Ole.......
  14. I think I would maybe try White on the GG line at least for a few shifts to get them going, and if it sticks keep it, if not go back to Darche.
  15. I didn't have too much time, so this is basically dlbalr's. Hoping for beginners luck. Go Habs Go

  17. Maybe I can slap one together in a couple of hours if you dont mind
  18. In regards to the media discussion I constantly find NBC the most Sober of all of them, and although Tsn has their moments they are way closer to the center line then CBC , the bad thing I have to say about Tsn isnt anything Montreal related, it's that year after year their do called insightful picks of who is going to win any given series is constantly based simply on standings. You can get someone who has never watched a hockey game in their life to look at the standings and say Vancouver is headed to the finals because they were great in the regular season. I would like to hear actual analasys that goes beyond the surface. And as far as rds goes, I can't understand too much French, but for my friends who do they tell me that their just as irrelevant as the rest, minus Joel Bouchard. Me personally hasn't forgiven Tremblay for his pathetic attempt at coaching and ruining our team, I was not a happy camper to see him on Rds. Everytime these media discussions come up I rant on too much, so I'm gonna shut up and read the insightful comments above and following. Go Habs go!!!!!!
  19. I feel so bad for Price, he played the best goaltending game I've seen in a long time , but because we couldn't get him the goal nobody will remember it,they need to get this one back for him
