  1. Out of all the bios on the players Bernier's was practically the most impressive! Is he a bruiser, or does he just ''play in traffic''? I really haven't seen a lot of potential draftees this year...

I've wanted to ask you this for a long time: what's the best damn sushi restaurant in Montreal according to you? I don't think there are sushi restaurants in Sherbrooke so I need to fill up this summer!!! :king:
  3. I don't know squat about the guy, just learned some basic info about him in my THN top 60 Bio thing. ''Looks'' like he's not really a 1st or 2nd line center...I mean they keep saying he's just a good character player with excellent determination...Haven't we had picks like this one in the 90's? Or for those of you that have seen him play, what kind of skill does he have other than just being mean?
  4. Puck So are you saying Garon is worth more than Checkmanek?
  5. You didn't quite get my message, but that's ok... I didn't mean Savard has chosen Quebec players in the 1st round just because they were from Quebec: I mean I'm sick of people getting excited about players from the Q just because they are from the Q.
  6. To all of you who thought Garon had the value to bring in a 1st round pick or something like that, just look at what the Kings got for Checkmanek!
  7. I dearly hope we won't take him before a better player just because he's from Quebec...God I'm sick of all that crap...We're doing it with the coaches let's not do it with the players. If there are two players available that are of equal skill, go with the French kid, but man I hope we don't get too tempted... :eyes:
  8. Who was responsable for all the horrible drafting of the 1990's? I for one am happy that Savard is showing the ''old Habs scouts'' how it should be done. And we've been getting excellent results since Savard is aboard, why complain? And who are we to know what really happens durings conversations between GM's? Anybody have a telephone spy they can trust?
  9. Glen Sather as our GM? :puke: I'd rather have Houle back! Sather is one of the worst people in all of hockey, he is confirming every summer that he's a complete ######. The Oilers are fine without Sather anyways.... As for Gainey, why is everyone thinking that Savard will be gone this year? He had to do some patch work when he arrived in Montreal and now he's starting to build a real team with the young talent he's gotten. I say give Savard more time to make the Habs a team that's deep in young talent. It's way to soon to give him the axe. :ghg: [Edited on 2003/5/27 by Markov79]
  10. I appreciate it, I hope your work for my pic pays off for the rest of the viewers of this board
  11. I think my fantasy pic is a ''tad'' too big...can ya fix it? thanks
  12. I don't think Jan Bulis has the natural scoring touch to be a consistent top 6 forward: he has a lot of difficulty handling hard, crisp passes in traffic and the puck doesn't really ''stick to his stick''. He's not the best when it comes to making plays happen in tight. Then again he played his 1st full year having quality playing time, he might improve his skills next year, who knows... For Hossa and Perezhogin to be 1st or 2nd line players it will take them a few years, so I guess Habs77 future lines are the ones we might see in 3 years. And I doubt Habs management will allow all of our offense to rely on young unproven players( except for Zeddy-Koivu). There will surely be a vet plucked in our top 2 lines.
  13. Don't the Rangers also have a lot of ''potential 20 goal guys''? The key here is also team chemistry: we have to get players who will get better as a group. I think it's time for the Habs to try and develop/trade for higher end talent to compliment players such as Koivu and Markov. There must be a reason why almost half of Markov's goals were assisted by Koivu as they were shown on highlight clips: they have a hockey sense that not enough Habs have. (Ribeiro is developping is nhl skills, but yeah he surely has those ''high-end'' skills too) I hope Prezhoughin has better overall attributes than Zednik. (Savard compared him to Zeddy after we drafted him) Can't wait to see our future core players in action. :hlogo:
  14. It's so hard to say ''this player will never be this good, or he can't be this bad''.... He's fast, intense, has a good sense of hockey and most of all is willing to learn and improved a lot in a year; but which of his attributes will he develop the most? Can't wait to see him in action. So if he makes the team, I guess one of Juneau/Ribeiro will have to take their turn... Or he'll just play once every few games and we'll rotate him with struggling players. (Like Juneau) Which rookie has the best shot at making the team?
  15. The guy before him was much better, he actually talked hockey....And the humour is absolutely ridiculous, it's sad that they actually think it's funny. Thank God EA finally realized the Don Taylor thing was horrible and Craig Simpson is in this year, I can't wait! Go EA go!
  16. Remember that not one single team took a chance on him before he played. Sure he was tremendous for us, but how many young up-and-coming goalies have had little spurts of 3-4 great games in a row? What Garon did is show he has the potential, which isn't a rarety amongst nhl goalies. Deadmarsh for Garon? No chance, not even close! Even Visnovsky for Garon is a long shot, as players like Lubo are harder to find. I'd be thrilled if we got a high pick for Garon. I just hope we don't let him rot behind Theo and have idiotic journalists go on a ''play Garon and screw Theo'' rant if Theo has 1 or 2 bad games...
  17. ''Improved fighting and hitting and deeking''? How about improved AI intelligence which doesn't allow you to take the puck from behind your net and go coast-to-coast in a straight line without anybody touching you. And that's on '''difficult'' mode. EA always had the best graphics, sound and realism in terms of animation, but they have to step it up big time in terms of difficulty. They also said they were going to wait after the lockout (hopefully it will just be a discussion, but you know...) before putting salary caps into the game. I can't wait for that, it will make the franchise mode even cooler, although I like what they did this year.
  18. You're just analysing it from your subjective point of view, it's hilarious to see how much you worship the Sens (or hate the Devils) but saying that ''the Sens could have won but they played like they didn't care''... I'll remember that one
  19. I find it funny that people are jealous of teams that win... They just put it in their mind that they hate a certain team and then their arguments are weak as hell... If I was a Sens fan I'd at least have a certain amount of respect for the better team that won. (In case some of you forgot usually the team that beats the other team is called ''the winner'') example: I hate the Flyers, but I would respect them if they beat the Habs.
  20. One last time for Stevens and co, I think that after this year the Devils will have some retooling to do with their vets. Jersey doesn't have the offense of Dallas or Detroit, but they are more disciplined... I think this year's Ducks are a better team than last year's Canes and that the Devils aern't as good as last year's Red Wings, so it should be a very exciting finals with loads of overtimes! Hey, I did say Brodeur would win the Conn Smythe:) (If NJ wins the cup Madden deservs it and you know who if Anaheim wins...)
  21. LOL I remember when Lindros was on Letterman... Go Giguere, represent Quebec! :que:
  22. Think the Sens will fire him? I'm not so sure... But the real question is if Martin is available does Savard stab Julien in the back?
  23. The Devils wern't lucky: they just plain battled back and found a way to win, once again. That's the sign of a true champion team. I'm happy that the team I was rooting for won but at the same time am wondering how the heck will Ottawa regain their confidence, which has been SHATTERED year after year after year... New Jersey isn't a big market team that throws their money away. They develop through the draft and let high priced talent like Mogilny, Lemieux, Malakhov go. Headcases like Arnott and Danton are shown out of the door, and two of their highest paid players are NJ draft picks. Say what you want about their boring style (although you're an idiot if you think this series was boring) but there must be a reason why every organisation ranks the Devils as a model. Why are the Devils my 2nd fav. team behind the Habs? Simple: I wish that one day we will have a team with the same structure and discipline in terms of management and player intensity as the Devils do year after year. Yeah everyone wanted Ottawa ''small budget team'' to win, but if the Sens had the financial ressources of the Devils of a few years ago, do you think they would still have such a small payroll and not be tempted by UFA's? That was a great series!
  24. I'm going to visit Ottawa's University on Saturday, tell me where are the ''fun'' places I should visit:) And is the ticket office for the Sens games close to the University of Ottawa?
