  1. I'm stilling hoping that they are in the Brisebois and Perreault sweepstakes to replace Schneider and Smolinski. Remember, the kings are a team that had massive injuries last year-- they are NOT in a rebuilding mode and there will be a lot of pressure on them with the Ducks' success to do well next year. Plus they have all those draft picks to give away. Brisebois and Perreault to LA for Rasmussen (HA!) plus a first and second-rounder in this year's draft.
  2. I don't know if that's true but it is certainly consistent with what we KNOW to be true. For example, a lot of GMs were ticked off-- especially Brian Burke-- when Savard traded Linden to the Caps without first calling them back. Ditto when Weinrich was traded to Boston after St. Louis had been promised a call back from Savard. Savard needs to be in charge of player development with Timmons and Dorion as scouts and Madden and Bobby Smith in charge of pro scouting with Bob Gainey as GM/President and with Boivin as VP-Marketing/Finance
  3. If the money issues were evened out, would you trade Brisebois for Turgeon straight up? The deal would then allow you immediately to trade Perreault as well and perhaps Ribeiro, too. I think Brisebois has more value, despite the fact that he is a headcase, just because offensive defensemen are a rarer commodity than soft centers. Still, I would not be terribly shocked if Savard wasn't reviewing this option.
  4. Hey, Puck. The site is great. The only thing that bums me out a bit is that it is too spread out. That there is no single link I can go to, immediately, to see in one spot what the last 10 messages are regardless of "topic." In other words, I miss scrolling through thread titles and being able, in an instant, to see who has just posted or not. I guess I am saying that there are so many different potential topics-- so many different avenues for people to go down-- that it feels like a hassle trying to stay on top of the latest posts. Now, I may be an idiot and completely missing it. If so, please let me know.
  5. Looks like Ward and Hainsey led the way. Good for them. I love the fact that Hainsey is doing well in the playoffs after being injured and demoted and criticized, etc. Best thing that ever could have happened to him and his career was to put games, and distance, between his struggles this winter and his success this spring. 1ST PRD: HAM - RON HAINSEY 1 (SYLVAIN BLOUIN, BENOIT GRATTON) 10:09 HAM - MIKE BISHAI 2 (BILL LINDSAY) 17:08 2ND PRD: BNG - RADIM BICANEK 2 (ANTOINE VERMETTE, CHRIS BALA) 2:28 HAM - (PP) JASON WARD 8 (MARC-ANDRE BERGERON, RON HAINSEY) 18:04 HAM - (PP) MICHAEL RYDER 8 (MARCEL HOSSA, MARC-ANDRE BERGERON) 18:45 3RD PRD: HAM - JARRET STOLL 5 (UNASSISTED) 0:04 HAM - RAFFI TORRES 6 (CHAD HINZ, BILL LINDSAY) 1:45 BNG - BRAD SMYTH 7 (BRIAN POTHIER, ANTOINE VERMETTE) 2:04 HAM - TONY SALMELAINEN 4 (BENOIT GRATTON, JASON WARD) 9:49 BNG - BRIAN POTHIER 2 (CHRIS BALA, BRAD SMYTH) 16:40 HAM - JASON WARD 9 (TONY SALMELAINEN, FRANCOIS BEAUCHEMIN) 17:15
  6. At least one senior member of the Habs braintrust thinks that Higgins is ready for the NHL NOW. I think that's Martin Madden but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's good news because it can only help Komisarek that his good buddy is on the team. One month until the draft. Surely the NEXT month will be more interesting and eventful than the last month has been.
  7. First of all, good morning. Thank you, Habs77, for steering me here. Second of all, the question is a no-brainer. You trade Perreault and give Ribeiro one more chance-- this year, playing regular minutes-- to show what he can or cannot do. Ribeiro's upside is 50 assists per year. He has Gretzky-like talents but needs to show that he can be consistent and professional in his work ethic. I think he WILL make that transition. But it would be a mistake to trade him now, unless, of course, it means a crack at a Top Three pick
