  1. interesting. i agree with most that the habs could go as high as 4th.every team in the east has question marks.you have to figure the penguins, flyers, caps, canes, bruins to be in the mix. the habs will need to weather the storms that affected them last year. hopefully, with more grit, speed and consistent play from price, they can compete all season long and maybe finish among the top 4. lets face it, habs backed into last season's playoffs based on a tiebreaker against the equally inept panthers. they need to overcome injury woes, and they seem to have enough depth to overcome.yes we will all miss saku, kovy, komi, etc., but the team never progressed. the major housecleaning will stand on its own merit.if it works, then all hail gainey. if not, the fans will be chasing gainey on 10-quest.its taking forever for august to end.
  2. anybody going to see dream theater in montreal. i think its tomorrow nite.the new songs are worth the price of admission.
  3. there really is no need for manny fernandez. curtis sanford and desjardins can handle the ahl load, with perhaps loic lacasse making a push.habs seem pretty well set for better or worse.if the new players and the new lines gell quickly, then the habs could surprise. as it stands now, i really think they can push the bruins for the top spot. c'mon now, can tim thomas stand on his head 2 years in a row. and remember kessell is out till december. leafs are big and tough, but anemic on offense, and i just don't see ottawa or the sabres really rising.gainey just might make it thru this season in grand style.habs have gotta try to stay healthy throughout.
  4. i hear alot of talk about bgl being injured and not ready for training camp. if this is true, then its time to say goodbye. but i would really hate to see him go.last season, he never got on track. a healthy bgl at the outset would maybe set the tone, along with a moen or stew or pacs.it was extremely embarrassing to see the bruins and other teams push the habs around, seemingly at will.that cannot continue.visiting teams need to develop the "centre bell flu"
  5. i agree to an extent. subban will really have to turn heads to even have a chance with the parent club.maxwell really was hard to evaluate. sometimes the habs seem to be too patient in bringing up their younger players.would be nice to see the current mix of vets and young talent come togetheras they did in 86.
  6. pacs and dags did a commendable job when injuries took a toll on the key players.when the likes of koivu, higgins, and tanguay and others returned, dags was often relegated to 3rd or 4th line or healthy scratch, all the while the returning players took several weeks to regain their rhythm. its time for the new habs and the younger players to hit the ice and show the fans that the outgoing ufa's WON'T be missed. too many times being on the wrong end of the handshake line in the 2nd round or worse.time for a whole new attitude, culture and mindset.damn, august is such a long month!!!!!!!we've been hearing for years about the depth of the system. time to expose it and use it for better or worse.this is actually an exciting time to be a habs fan as we sail into unchartered territory.bring it on, pac, dags, chips and stew. habs fans believe in you.
  7. as for the talk about zherdev. no way. gainey would be taking walks by the river with him on a daily basis.habs need less drama this season, if that is at all possible.
  8. by late august, citifield will become a mausaleum as the mets become more and more irrelevant. totally dismal.here in south florida, the marlins are playing good ball. no one comes to the games.....well there are some fabulous latina women that attend, but for the most part the stands are empty.
  9. i must be a dinosaur. for me its some king crimson or dream theater. as i ready for work now, got some funk fusion with billy cobham, and some straight up sound from the yellowjackets.
  10. seems more than a few people ommitted moen, who i feel is a huge asset.he has size, can kill penalties, be part of a shut down line, and will back up his teamates, sort of what habs fans envisioned when we got bgl.habs lineup is not perfect, but i feel habs are ready to compete. and remember, koivu never scored more than 22 goals during his stint with the habs.can't see him and teemu lighting it up at this point in their careers.as for gainey, with this new influx of proven vets, its make or goodbye time.lets start tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. stay with what we have. andrei, when playing at top level, has an excellent shot, especially on a 2on 1, or 3 on 2 rush. with fewer distractions, he and sergei can make a difference. martin's forte is teaching, and with the "new vets", hopefully the locker room won't be as divided as last year.i may be wrong, but i really see the habs coming together as a team this year. the new influx of players have a nice resume. that is why i am reluctant to see ANY san jose shark with the habs. cheechoo????marleau????might as well just stay pat with loivu and kovalev. its time to move onward and forward. lets hope august speeds by.
  12. habs need to be finished with players like cheechoo. thats why 10 or 11 ufa's are gone. cheechoo, marleau, and thornton only lasted 2 more games than the habs. they were completely outplayed by the ducks.so no,no cheechoo and marleau. i like what the habs have right now. maybe a tweak here or there.and all habs fans should be wondering how moen will respond when the leafs or bruins try to run his team-mates.don't know, why, but i have a good feeling.
  13. its almost august here in hot, hot hot south florida. what else to do but watch old habs tapes and think about the 09-10 season. yeah i'm starting to get a buzz about the new look habs.i loved saku, kovalez and komi, but for all their worth, the habs really never progressed to the next level.second round playoff exits, or worse, are not staples of habs hockey. si it was time for them to go. i look forward to a new phase of speed , grit and hopefully some team unity.and while i'm not a fan of jaques martin, it could be worse,; we're stuck with our president for the next 4 years.
  14. every team needs an enforcer. bgl is our nuclear deterrent.but i wish he had the snarl and mean spiritedness of a kordic or nilan.forget the invites with a lucic and just go to town on him, or anyone else who attempts to run the habs players. perhaps with moen, mara and stewart, ther will less pressure for bgl to be the sole provider of protection.i would still want him withe habs, but he HAS to come out of preseason healthy. he never really got it going last year.
  15. prospal is a pretty useful player. i wouldn't mind seeing him with the habs for the right price. otherwise lets see who can win jobs in training camp.its not as if he's a world beater, but he could probably chip in with 15-20 goals under the right fit.can we get this offseason over with????
