  1. Sports has always been mixed in with politics. Take a look at the World Cup or the Olympics it was always political. Communism vs. Capitalism, Right wing vs. Left Wing, in fact the 1972 Canada vs. U.S.S.R series was all about politics. It isn't just the Maple Laughs vs. the Habs in truth it's always been Ontario vs. Quebec. Therefore to say that politics doesn't belong in sports is ignoring the reality. Sorry, but it's just my opinion.
  2. Betrayal is often impossible to forgive. I don't know how Carbo will rebound from this wound however I haven't given up hope on Carbo because he's a fighter and a champion and will come back with a vengence.
  3. As much as I enjoyed Carbo as a player, captain and leader I firmly believe that hiring him to coach the habs without prior coaching experience was a poor decision that Bob Gainey made. I understand the confidence and trust bestowed upon him but what happened to patience. I wonder if Bob and Carbo are still talking after his firing? :hlogo:
  4. I know we gave alot when we traded Richer and Lemieux but at least we got Kirk the captain Muller. As for Damphousse we gave away Corson and Gilchrist which wasn't too shabby. The trade I hated most was sending Kirk Muller and Matt Schneider to N.Y for a softy like Turgeon and Malakov who often lacked passion. it's just my opinion !
  5. In order to create more american fans to the NHL the players are now wearing football numbers on their jersey's.
  6. #27 is reserved for Kovalev after his contract is through with Ottawa.
  7. As for the most Jewish team in the NHL maybe Jeffrey Molson can whisper into Pierre Gautier's ears and hire Gary Betman as our new captain and all go to Shwartz's for a smoke meat sandwich and a dill pickle.
  8. Great move ! He is an experienced and intelligent player that will give us stability and depth. Now will Pierre Gautier make a trade ?
  9. Thank's for being blunt regarding my posts and I do agree with you. The truth is that I've been reading too much of Red Fisher or the Team 990. I'm extremely proud of the teams accomplishements during the post season. This team proved that there is a lot of character players on it's roster and that it doesn't fall short of leadership. I have to confess that I wasn't optimistic that they could beat teams such as washington or pittsburgh but when they did I felt sad because I've betrayed my confidence. There was a time when I had faith that our team could win under any circumstance. I beleive that it' time to redeem my soul and take a stand for my team win or lose. Thanks for your post.
  10. Rather than picking up a player we should have dumped a player such as Kosty and use the 3.5 million dollars for other needed purposes. Although he has his hot spells he is overall inconsistent and gets brain dead during the most crucial games. My prediction is that he will be a bust this year and will be sent packing to another team. What beats me is why couldn't they have seen it sooner rather than later.
  11. I agree with you about Auld but what about riding the cup with Matin Biron who is a proven NHL elite goalie and still young at 32. It's no wonder Philly picked him up and it's no wonder that they are a great team!
  12. Have I been reading right? Price should get 4 Million $$$ on a 5 year contract? No bloody way that's like shooting ourselves in the head! Price still has lot's to prove starting with consisteny. Watching him play last year and letting soft goals through especially on his glove side puts the breaks on for me. I'm not blaming Price for a lack of consistency because he needs to learn from his mistakes and shortcomings. I suggest a 2 year deal at 2.5 million per season and that would be my final offer my friend. If Price doesn't appreciate that generous offer then let's ship him and his glove along with his Garth Brooks cd's to the wild wild west.
  13. Chicago had offered a long term contract to Neimi reportedly worth around 2.3 million per year therefore chicago did show confidence in keeping him in chicago. The real issue was all about cap space. When arbitration awarded Neimi with 2.7 million per year chicago simply couldn't afford him and as a result Neimi and chicago were both losers. I have always defended Price and I'm sure that he will someday be an elite goalie in this league but I never believed it to be with montreal because of the media and the gutless bastards who constantly boo him when he has an average game. Let me also affirm that I do share your respect and confidence regarding Price however my only concern is that montreal always has to overpay players in order to play here. I believe that this gifted young kid Price will rise up to the occassion and be the great goalie that he really is but what if all that is just wishful thinking and we take another big hit on our cap which is currently I believe over the edge. By the way I appreciate your comments and always enjoy a good debate.
  14. Never mind the facepalm emotion I'd rather have a mooner emotion for you. I can't believe you stated that chicago got Turco because he was a better fit. Get one thing straight chicago got Turco at 1.3 million on a one year contract because they could not afford Neimi at 2.7 million because of their cap space situation. In fact Chicago lost 9 of it's current roster players this year due to the cap system. Having said that let's get another thing straight if arbitration assessed that Neimi is only worth 2.7 million dollars even though his stats are great and winning the cup with chicago then what would Price be worth? That was my entire point but obviously you couldn't read through it. so next time when you decide to read maybe you can leave your ill temper aside and read deligently.
  15. How much cap space do the habs have available in order to sign Carey Price? Now that Chicago had to part with their stanley cup goaltender due to arbitration worth an estimated 2.7 million dollars raises the question as to how much is Carey Price really worth? Carey Price won only 7 games for us last year that's including the first 2 games of the season until Halak came in and saved us from that fall. I'm just trying to look at the hard facts and from that perspective Carey Price should not be arguing for more money in fact he should be greatful for whatever he can get due to his performance. If Catrey Price and his agent is too tough on negotiations then I agree that the habs should strongly consider signing Neimi and turn a new page.
  16. For the past 2 years I've been saying that Price will not make montreal his home and I cannot believe that this shit is still going on. Even if Price signs a 2 year contract with mtl it means shit! Should have traded him and if there is any team out there that will trade to get him then let Price go for crying out loud. Montreal and it's fans were too hard on Price and I don't blame him at all.
  17. I always said it from the beginning that Price will be a future star goalie but not for our club maybe in nashville where the country music is swarming with Gart Brooks. Price should have been traded and Martin Biron would have been a great replacement at age 32. Gagne would have also been a great pick up for montreal. I'm fed up with our GM for nissed opportunities. Please Mr. Jeffrey Molson come to the rescue!!
  18. I assume that your refering to Jose Theodore in particular. I think that he has matured since his divorce with montreal. During this years NHL awards Jose had mentioned the loss of his daughter which broke my heart. I think that Lecavalier would have been Quebec's hockey god if the trade would have gone through with tampa.
  19. Your point is fair. It's not just the russian players with issues it's also the francaphone players that have a huge problem playing for their hometown.
  20. If Avtsin is everything they say he is and wants to play here in montreal then we have ourselves a gem. However I have lost almost all my confidence with russian players because it's unlikely that they will play here unless it's the big apple or los angeles. To put it bluntly I would't be too overly optimistic that these russians will play here and if they do they wouldn't play with enough passion it's a new era now and it's also the new KHL.
  21. How many russians got drafted this year?
  22. You never draft a goalie in the first 10 pick. Only montreal was stupid to draft Price while leaving behind other great players. We have a ton of goalies to chose from and that are already in our organization but that was Bob Gainey's stupid 5 year rebuilding plan. What a joke!!!
  23. Montreal is not the primary destination for UFA'S or players in general to come and play for. The NHL plan was to expand NHL hockey to more U.S cities and that phase all began with trading Wayne Gretzky to Los Angelos. The last canadian team to capture the stanley cup was montreal in 1993 therefor the last 18 stanley cups all went to U.S teams and markets. Is it pure coincidence? I don't think so!!! Our canadian players sold us out for money and self-interests. THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.......
  24. My pick is Gionta but I do also see Gomez.
  25. When I heard the news that Mr jeffrey Molson will take over the ship I could't tell you how happy this made me. Last year when I heard from pierre Biovin that we need a billingual G-M and a billingual coach it drew the final straw. Theres no need for politics in sports I can relate to the preference of a bilingual coach or G-M but not to the the point of excluding your best options for our team and it's future. Salut Pierre est bonne chance!
