  1. "I would like to sincerely apologize to the entire Chicago Blackhawks organization, including ownership, management, coaches, trainers, employees, and my teammates. I would also like to apologize to my fans, and my family. I am embarrassed and I have let you all down,” Perry wrote. “As a result of my actions, there has been speculation and rumours. I am sickened by the impact this has had on others, and I want to make it clear that in no way did this situation involve any of my teammates or their families. Most importantly, I want to directly apologize to those who have been negatively affected and I am sorry for the additional impact to others it has created. My behaviour was inappropriate and wrong. “I have started working with experts in the mental health and substance abuse fields to discuss my struggles with alcohol and I will take whatever steps necessary to ensure this never happens again. I hope to regain the trust and respect of everyone who has believed in me throughout my career. “Once again, I am deeply sorry." Corey Perry's official statement published by TSN. Seems pretty clear whatever the incident was, it was alcohol was definitely a factor.
  2. Contracts are similar, but Anderson still has way more value than Campbell.
  3. It did, but goalies can't handle the puck outside the trapezoid below the goal line. Once the puck is outside of that area goalies can't touch it.
  4. He was pinched by a Montreal player and toe dragged the puck outside the trapezoid before he released it. The Sportsnet feed replayed it and you could clearly see his stick and the puck was well inside the corner area before he released it. It happens, was just pointing out he got away with it.
  5. I'm afraid I don't understand what you're asking.
  6. Merzlikins got away with playing the puck in the restricted zone pretty clearly there.
  7. That happens when you have half of your defenseman injured.
  8. TSN announcers saying Primeau was sent back to Montreal so he can start tomorrow vs Florida.
  9. But what if Perry was offered the program and he refused? That would give grounds for termination.
  10. He was intoxicated as well, so he was involved in criminal activity, drinking and diving, even if he wasn’t the driver. He traded to Edmonton, so his contract wasn’t terminated. Also, if memory serves me right, the cops were called to Galchenyuk’s from the party the accident stemmed from. Correct me if I’m wrong with that part. As for Perry, Chris Johnson is reporting the termination isn’t related to a player or his family, it was a workplace matter that was not criminal. I’ve seen rumours, nothing really credible, that he showed up to the team meeting prior to the Columbus game, intoxicated. He was scratched from that game which appears to be around when this started. Take this with a big gain of salt.
  11. Because speculating about hockey related material is kind of what we do here. We have entire threads dedicated to speculating things. I'm not sure how Corey Perry being terminated is somehow exempt from that.
  12. Has to be something fairly major to terminate his contract. Also, as for the Bedard's mother rumour, there's been a few cases of infidelity in the past that only resulted in a trade at worse. If it's not infidelity, then there's nothing Chicago has to warrant removing him from the team that the NHLPA wouldn't have a field day with. I would guess he probably said something off-limits, like a racial slur, to someone in the organization. If it were gambling or criminal related something a little more concrete would of leaked by now. Those really are the only things I can think of that has warranted terminating a contract.
  13. Anderson does too many things well to be on the 4th line. He's probably the best forward on the roster at board battles. He is the best forward on the roster for consistently driving the puck to the net. Puck retrieval in the offensive zone and driving the puck to the net, for a team that shoots a lot from the outside, are 2 big skills to have. He's normally a 0.5ppg player. For a player that plays that type of game that's about normal for a 2nd-3rd line spot. His on-ice vision and usage of teammates is atrocious though.
  14. Allen let in 2 soft goals in a row, but you really can't be mad as Montreal hasn't generated much of anything that could of resulted in a goal.
  15. There's no indication so far in this game that it will happen. Then again, I would of said the same thing yesterday vs the Sharks.
  16. One of the biggest flaws of the PP in recent years was the predictability of the shot always coming from the left circle. Anderson is always going to shoot, so it opens up that threat wherever he is. So in that respect he’s a great addition to the PP. The problem now is there’s no threat of him scoring from that shot in this slump. I do agree Ylonen should get a shot on that unit to mix things up. Caufield, Suzuki, Matheson and Monahan are in a real good groove together, so there should be a rotating door with the 5th.
  17. I thought Suzuki's shootout move was filthy, Ylonen's was better.
  18. Signs of life there at the end of the period. Goal within the last 2 minutes. This has the setup for a good 3rd period.
  19. Mike Hoffman forgot which team he played for on that puck over glass call. He threw up his hand like the Montreal players to alert the linesman the puck was thrown over the glass.
  20. Top pairing defenseman are rarer than top line forwards. While there isn't a guarantee Guhle is going to be top pair, every indication so far is he has the potential to be. He's 21 and not looking out of place playing against the best players from other teams. For this reason I would put him slightly above both Caufield and Suzuki right now. I don't expect any of the 3 to be touchable without and offer that blows your socks off.
  21. As long as the picks aren't 1st, I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. He's still a PPG player, 25 and under contract for 2 more years. I would imagine salary would have to go back to make it work. Maybe this is finally Anderson's trade? Would probably have to throw in Pearson to realistically make it work.
  22. If the Oilers are going to get Montembeault, they are going to love and hate this game.
