  1. Emelin 4.1 (out) Alzner 4.5 in. Markov 5.75 last year... Markov's new deal? Beaulieu out 1.275 out.... Schlemko in 2.1 Jerabek in, Nesterov out... money is a wash (925 on both) Meh, its a small bit more expensive than last year, but not significantly. Anywhere from 1 million to 2 million more depending where Markov comes in. That said. Alzner vs Emelin Schlemko vs Beaulieu Jerabek vs Nesterov The talent is increased significantly over last year (if Markov returns)
  2. As Josh Donaldson said, "This isn't the try league. This is the get it done league." I don't care how hard he's tried to get a centre, the fact is that his job is to fix this team's problems and make it a contender. This is his sixth off-season in charge, we needs to stop with trying being good enough. Get it done, or let someone else take the reins who can get it done.
  3. Where did i say that? I said it was the Biggest problem, and has not been addressed. You like to put words in other people's mouths when you don't have a way to refute their points. Make it seem as if they are saying things they didn't say, "cup winner or...best team ever". Your strawman argument doesn't play with me. Getting a centre would put this team closer to the group of true contenders... it doesn't guarantee a cup, but at least it gives them a much better chance than they have now.
  4. We all knew what the Habs #1 problem was when Bergevin took over. Lets look at how that #1 problem has been addressed. Inherited Centre Depth 2012 Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller 2013-14 Centre Depth Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller 2014-15 Centre Depth Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller 2015-16 Centre Depth Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller (start of season) Galchenyuk, Plekanec, Desharnais, (end of season) 2016-17 Centre Depth Galchenyuk, Plekanec, Desharnais (start of season) Danault, Plekanec, Shaw (Playoff Series against New York) And now? WHo the #### knows? This is the indictment of Bergevin. Fix the problem already.
  5. I did read your post. You didn't answer my question. Why do you think Price is going to decline at 34? Goalies, especially elite goalies, typically have much better longevity than other positions. Roy, Brodeur, Hasek, Luongo, Tim Thomas, etc... how good were they at 34? Why do we assume that hes going to be too old and that the team is going to need a rebuild then... especially since Drouin will be 27, Lehkonen 27, Galchenyuk 28, Danault 29, Gallagher 30, etc....
  6. What would it take to get Bryan Little? 1 year left on his current contract.... $4.7 million cap hit.
  7. Its absolute craziness to believe that losing Price, with nothing in return, puts this team in a better position to win the cup.
  8. That article is dumb. It calls the Habs the third worst team in the off-season. Then it looks at Washington and goes all advanced stats, posting Sean Tierneys GAR advanced stats chart as its reason why for the bottom two teams. Look where the Habs are in that chart. So Washington and Chicago are the two worst cause the advanced stats, but the Habs are third cause other reasons, even when the chart shows that they have small improvement. That chart also assumes Markov is gone and the Habs don't spend their remaining $9.5 million in cap space.
  9. Why is Price going to be too old at 34? Was Brodeur? Hasek? Roy? Lundqvist? Luongo? too old at that age. Goalies last longer than other positions.
  10. I didn't say I liked it, I just gave my interpretation of this nonsensical offer.
  11. Advanced stats wise... expected gf/ga the habs are a small bit, very small right now over last year. And that is assuming we lose markov, and do nothing with 9 million in cap space. Overall the summer is better than you think. That said, the biggest and most valid criticism of Bergevin remains. In 6 off seasons (including this one) he's done nothing to address his team's biggest weakness... the #1 Centre.
  12. Meh, Eklund has no credibility. Worry when someone else reports it.
  13. sounds like a plan B, ala Hemsky/Radulov If Markov doesn't return Habs sign Streit? no info, just a guess on my part.
  14. Looking into his advanced stats during his stint in Ottawa, he was a heavy possession driver, but every time he was on the ice, his goalies turned into sieves. His PDO was something stupid like .930. A right handed centre, who can drive play in the NHL, and showed some offensive flair in the KHL. Sign me up for a relatively cheap gamble on that. DaCosta and Markov to finish this roster would have us in good shape for October.
  15. Do you think that julien will put either danault or plek on the fourth line? Not to put 2 defensive issues at c. One i could see... not both
  16. Our wingers are (not line combos, just showing how many we have). Max - one of Drouin/Chuck Lehkonen - Gallagher Byron - Shaw Hudon - Hemsky Thats four lines of offensive wingers The C, and LHD have huge holes.
  17. No need for him. Unless its an absolute elite guy, there are lots of wingers on this team. Go Centre or Go LHD.
  18. So Tavares is unrealistic, but Draisaitl is realistic? Got it.
  19. ISS had him at 10 and five spots in the top 10 is huge..... its just as big a difference as 20 spots at the end of the first round.
  20. TSN also thought Price was a guy taken too high, so I don't know what that means.
  21. and in your dream the Oilers match on Draisaitl and trade RNH to another team looking for a centre (Columbus, Nashville, Islanders)....
  22. Weber was leading in goals at one point this year after 20 games or something. How'd that work out. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts... ... Simply no crystal ball of knowing what Karlsson's full season would have been. Its also important to note that yes he was leading after 17 games, Subban missed the first 6 games that year in his contract dispute. and Subban's 38 points in 42 games (0.905 PPG) was better than Karlsson's 14 in 17 (0.823 PPG)
