  1. It'd be Fowler for 9th Emelin traded elsewhere.... Not Fowler for Emelin.
  2. Bruins sucked for 25 years? Sure but that was the 40s-60s. I don't see how thats relevant to the time period when the Nordiques were around. The Bruins were a strong team in the 80s and early 90s; going to two cup finals, and beating us multiple times in the playoffs.
  3. Fowler in and Emelin out is cap neutral. (actually a small savings) So yes, if he is dumping Emelin there would still be the money for Okposo.
  4. McKenzie, Lebrun both saying they don't think Bergevin will move Subban.
  5. It was aimed at the suggestion that the Roy trade pointed the other direction.... That was one move, and its one where we had a francophone superstar and only traded him after the Nordiques were gone. But again, just one move. The 15 years before that suggested the Habs were very cognizant of the french/english dynamic. Even more so than today.
  6. Here is our draft preview podcast. Note our sound editor had a death in the family, so this is a podcast in raw, unedited form. http://lastwordonsports.com/2016/06/24/otpp-nhl-draft-preview-tradefree-agent-news/
  7. The Habs never tried harder to be "the french team" than the decade the Nordiques were in the NHL. If you think their return would push us away from the French only coaching policy, you're sadly mistaken IMO.
  8. Bergevin is damned if you do, damned if you don't. If he says... I'm not trading subban, and not even listening to offers... people will criticize him and say, you should at least listen. What if the Oilers went crazy and offered McDavid Subban, you wouldnt do it? He says he's not trading subban and taking calls, and shit just keeps coming down. July 1st needs to get here so the NTC kicks in.
  9. Quit stealing the joke i made weeks ago.
  10. Remember that Logan Brown is 8 inches taller than Clayton Keller and scouts always love size. How much more talented must Keller be vs Brown that they are neck and neck in almost every draft ranking?
  11. In the last 20 years one team has one the stanley cup without a legit stud defenceman... the Hurricanes in 2006... thats it. Every other cup winner had a ing stud on defence. We have a stud Why give him up?
  12. I think Jost has raw offensive talent.... Don't discount that just because he also plays a 200 foot game. You don't get 15 points at the Under 18 by accident (after dominating two other international tournaments as well).
  13. I would take Nylander Jost Keller Sergachev Juolevi Brown Chychrun Bean McLeod
  14. Protected list as of today 7 Fwds Galchenyuk Pacioretty Gallagher Plekanec ------------- ---------- -------- Players with 2 years or less of pro experience do not need to be protected: McCarron, Scherbak, Lekonen, Reway. Biggest players Exposed (or slot into the last three spots): Andrighetto, Hudon, Eller, Flynn, Byron, Matteau, Danault - also we can lose a max 1 of these guys. We can afford to sign at least 2 top 6 forwards.
  15. Its still not a mock draft because it has no consideration for the team's drafting tendencies or needs. There is a forward at 8, and Arizona is stacked with forward prospects and have no defence prospects.
  16. They rank him 9th, they don't have him being drafted there. Its a ranking, not a mock draft.
  17. Anderson isn't bad. He's just thoroughly average as far as NHL starters go.
  18. 1) Give up a top 6 centre who is 23 and averages over 50 points a year... get a guy who cant break 30 2) Get a 3.9 million defenceman to play on the third pair (Klefbom and Nurse are both LHD and would play ahead of emelin). 3) Get a goalie prospect who has not played great the last two years. 4) an undersized winger with huge question marks. 5) trade down from 4th to 9th 6) get second round pick. (sounds like a throw in to try and make this less terrible for edmonton but it really doesn't). This is a massive, massive rip off. This is the kind of deal that Mike Milbury would look at and say that even he wouldn't do cause the Oilers are giving up way too much. Seriously this trade proposal is terrible. This trade would set the Oilers back another 3 years, at least.
  19. Being ranked 14th by ISS just shows that ISS is stupid... not that Galchenyuk wasn't good.
  20. The Habs are one of the top 3 revenue teams in the NHL right now. If they aren't winning they won't let Bergevin's contract get in the way of improving the team.
  21. Scouts saw a kid at 16 that had 83 points in 61 games before getting hurt. Dubois had 45 in 54 games.... Tkachuk is also a late 97... so this is his 3rd year of junior. 2 years at US NTDP level...
  22. Also, even if he was a centre Laine wouldn't pass Matthews. don't buy the hype. It happens every year... Seth Jones is gonna pass MacKinnon, Hedman is gonna pass Tavares, Eichel is gonna pass McDavid. Its all bullshit hype for the draft. Rarely if ever is it a real debate like Taylor vs Tyler.
  23. I'm missing why Edmonton does this deal. They don't get anything significant of value here. This is a massively lopsided deal.
  24. Teams almost always have centres ahead of wingers, thats why Filip Forsberg fell behind Galchenyuk in that same draft. The fact that Galchenyuk was third overall despite that injury just shows you how highly regarded he was.
  25. 95% of players put on weight after being drafted Some players will grow an inch, some won't.
