  1. Subban, Therrien, not going anywhere http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider-trading-subban-therrien-not-going-anywhere~811891 Sounds more like teams have called about Subban and MB was like No. As for Therrien, sounds like status quo... he's got the job til April 15th or so.
  2. Hes played 65 plus games every other year. His injuries have been at unfortunate times, but this is the first one that is truly a long-term injury. The other injuries were of the 1-2 week variety and at times when we were in the playoffs and can't survive two weeks without him. all goalies pick up minor injuries. Add to that of all the guys we want to say are elite, we've seen Rinne, Lundqvist, Quick, etc... be just as injured as price. I'm not worried about the long term here. Everything the Blue Jays doctor said on sportsnet the other night makes sense (and is on point with what you find on the internet about MCLs). He's got an MCL injury. These injuries heal with time. Surgery doesn't help and doesn't speed things up. All you can do is keep rehabbing and wait it out. I'm sure he's fine long before September comes, he's just not helping this year...
  3. If I'm his agent I show Bergevin three pieces of paper. On the first is the Habs record over the last 3 years with Price starting on the second is the Habs record with every other goalie in net. On the third is my asking price $100 billion gagiglllion dollars... Any questions?
  4. The next coach will speak french. Whether thats a francophone or an anglophone who learned to be bilingual (Marc Crawford as an example), doesn't really matter. But he'll speak french. We know this, we should probably just accept it at this point. But here is the thing that kills me.... CC and others always bring up, why can't the coach be hired and learn french on the go? I used to agree with that sentement, but here is why I don't. In Soccer (football) we see it all the time in Europe, these coaches learn the language after they get hired. Carlo Ancelotti and all the languages he's learned, Pep Guardiola and all the places he's been and learned the language, Jose Mourinho, great examples of this. Now lets look at our Habs. In the last 20 years we've had at least four guys who would have been excellent head coaching candidates. Excellent. And they were either assistants in Montreal, or head coach in Hamilton. Literally one-step away from the job for multiple years. They knew the requirement to be a head coach in Montreal, and yet they didn't learn french? WHY? Why didn't these guys who just sat there, and had to have known that they could be heirs to the throne, if they merely did one simple thing, learn french. Someone tell me why Kirk Muller (assistant for 4 years), Gerard Gallant (assistant for 2), Dave King (assistant 90s), Don Lever (farm club coach) never learned french. So how realistic is it to hire an Anglo head coach and say, "oh he'll just get french lessons over the summer." ... what do you do when he shows up in October and hasn't learned? Can you fire him then? Yeah good luck with that.
  5. Well if the rumors are true that the Rangers bid on Byron, we can't trade him without offering him to the Rangers first. He also might be worth it at a 1 million salary or so.
  6. Ottawa wins, we are 8th. Winnipeg gets a point and sneaks closer.
  7. FULL STOP. I don't agree with blaming PK and throwing him under the bus. But there is something i do disagree with.... how is it wrong to pull one goalie after 3 but leave the other for 6? What part of pro coaching says that the coach has to treat every player the same? What makes those 3 goals the same as the 6? How are the two situations comparable. This is the same thing that kills me when people complain player x makes a mistake and is benched, but player y makes many mistakes and isn't benched. There is nothing that says the coach has to treat both guys the same. Players are human beings... some respond to a kick in the ass, and some respond to a pat on the back.
  8. We've been the worst team in the NHL.... the absolute worst, for two and a half months now, with the same roster. I'm sure we can keep losing. Playing those teams is great, and will only help them to pass us.
  9. Yeah he's not exactly Gainey who was behind the bench for almost a decade in Minnesota/Dallas
  10. I just basically tried to point form transcribe it as he was talking.
  11. We are 9th TODAY How do you figure the best we can hope for is 10th to 15th? Price hasn't even put on pads yet... if he puts on pads tomorrow, he's still 2-3 weeks away from actually playing. Top 5 is easily reachable imo. Site is broken Teams other than the Oilers win.
  12. You had a different situation then. Brand new coach hand picked by Ronald Corey. You had the star go to corey and basically say him or me Corey had a huge ego and couldn't admit he made a mistake in the coach and so traded the player. Even when Roy went back on his demand two days after the detroit game, he still insisted and traded him. This is different. We all know therrien is done by mid april when the season ends, i don't see subban getting into a him or me stance cause subban is smart enough to recognize that. And even if Subban did get into the him or me stance, firing a coach after 4 years and a disastrous season isn't going to be an ego crushing move like Corey firing Tremblay would have been.
  13. The top 10 in giveways are 10 of the probably 15 best players in the NHL. Its the most horrible stat to base anything on ever.
  14. A tweet about Vezina getting a shutout in 1910 is a cool factoid to me. That said I'm sure some of those other 17 tweets were shit,
  15. The first goal he fell in front of the colorado net and got caught. The second goal he was in the penalty box after taking a bad holding call in the offensive zone. Yeah, he scored one.... one step forward, two steps back, a microcosm of his career.
  16. Eller was on the ice for the first goal against and third goal against, and was in the penalty box for #2.
  17. Perfect Tanking. If we can get a 3 point game in calgary that would be nice. Though Minny is up 2-0 Obviously Matthews is the goal. But if you believe like I do that there are 4 NHL ready forwards in this draft, realistically top 5 gets us one of those (As long as Edmonton is also between 2nd and 5th). Edmonton is gonna face huge pressure to take Chychryn or Juolevi... leaving one of the Finns or Tkachuk to 5th overall.
  18. Lars takes a bad penalty and gives it right back to Colorado. He was also "caught" on that shorty earlier too. Tank Commander.
  19. This all seems reasonable. although that line just keeps scoring (chuck - plex - gally) and as I'm writing this produced another goal. Until mathematically eliminated its hard to force a coach and players to break up his best line. We may be willing to throw in the season, but the coach and players are still looking at the standings and saying 6 points out.
  20. Jays Doctor Jason Smith examines Carey Price videos on sportsnet. On Initial Video (November 25th) - looks like an MCL injury - forward or Dman could play with a brace... but not a butterfly goalie Timeline - MCL can heal and generally does heal in time without surgery - Now should start to question if there is more than just the simple MCL injury, if its MCL plus something else? Surgery - MCL usually heals on its own without surgery. This is normal to go this long (3-4 months), but now still going and still no equipment there needs to be questions if surgery is needed and if something else is hurt (cartilage). Shut Him Down - I'm glad i don't have to make that decision, its tough call, but I would shut him down.

  22. We all complain about the icetime that Therrien gives DD (And i agree he hasn't done shit in a long time). But the fact remains that its more Bergevin's fault than anyone elses. He has 4 legit top 6 options. So what is he to do? Go look at a guy whose never scored more than 30 points in a season in the NHL in Eller? Keep turning to Paul Byron and Dale Weise? Where is he to find his two other top 6 forwards. As bad as DD has been, its not surprising to see a coach with so few offensive options hoping that a guy mired in a long slump, but at least with a history of multiple 50 point seasons could come out of it?
  23. I too expect a guy with 11 points in 30 AHL games this season to provide enough offensive game to solidify himself in a 3rd line C role.
  24. He's 33, not 39... and he doesn't exactly play that rugged style that sees players bodies break down. I'm not too worried about him.
  25. This year for me. After the win over the rangers (the night price got hurt) i really felt we had something here.
