  1. The final four is Saturday/Monday I dont understand why they dont play Friday/Sunday.
  2. Remember that any picks given up are 2025 picks, not 2024... as the offer sheet would be July 1st or later (after the draft). So you can assume you have the team to get a late first rounder, but you dont know for sure. Also all.compensation picks are natural picks (ie the pick belonging to the team doing the offer sheet). You cant trade for a pick and substitute it in. Not saying the Habs will do this, as I doubt it, but if they did, they are giving up their own 2025 picks, not Calgary's.
  3. Its a love tap but the fact he does it from the bench and not being involved in the play suggests a suspension to me. Especially this close to.playoffs the league has to set the precedent that you cant be hitting people from the bench.
  4. McD is unbelievable. Hes at 95 assists, and looks a lock to go over 100. The only NHL players to ever get 100 assists in a season. Gretzky (11 Times!!!!) Mario Lemieux (once) Bobby Orr (once). Thats it.... 13 times its been done and only by 3 different players. Pretty elite company.
  5. As an under 25, Carolina can buy out KK at 33% spread out over 2x thr years... so effectively 16.6%. They have no reason to retain 50%
  6. Arizona is winning tonight and Ottawa has been winning lately too.
  7. He did so much better under Ducharme? Wasn't it under Ducharme that he had to leave the team for half the season and the run to the Cup Final. Lets be clear, I'm not blaming Ducharme for that. It's not his fault. But its curious to say he was "better" under DD when he wasn't even on the team for a huge and important stretch of time.
  8. He averaged 15 minutes a game in 2022-23 and over 17 minutes the year before. The coaching staff believed in him. Really the unfounded attacks on the coaching staff are old and tiresome, you could at least lay off now with Marty's family situation.
  9. Thats pretty much the same PPG as he was doing in Montreal. Hes just stayed healthier. Hes always had talent. It was best for both sides to move on as the situation was toxic in Montreal though.
  10. The versatility to play either side as your 5/6/7 D is really more value than we give credit for. Its why Josh Gorges stuck around here so long
  11. I think we underrate Harris a lot. His adavnce stats are very good. He also has the versatility to play both LD and RD with little drop off in those stats. He moves the puck well and gets it out of the zone. All of this makes him more valuable than many think.
  12. I don't think Hutson is quite as good as Hughes, but yes, he's close enough to be in the conversation. At this age though, Hughes was in the NHL.
  13. Its' 4 games and goalies are voodoo. He was not as bad as he's played here (getting rusty and barely playing due to 3 goalies), nor is he as good as he's played in 4 games. He's what he always was, a good #2.
  14. Who is calling Armia a 2nd line winger. I don't anyone thinks he is one. He's playing on the second line by default, but I don't think anyone, here or media wise, thinks he's a top-6 player long term.
  15. I'd also say that the reffing played a part, there were a number of ticky tack calls against the Habs early, while the Canucks were getting away with some stuff. I mean the trip on Suzuki was a bad call, and then before the Vancouver goal, there was a board battle where a Habs player took an elbow to the face right in front of the ref with no call. Add that into the points CC has above that the team is facing the Refs as one more obstacle and they folded up shop after those ten minutes.
  16. Mattheson and Guhle play amongst the hardest opponents in the league.
  17. I dont think Anderson and Dvorak is a pairing that can't be together. No more than Anderson and anyone else.
  18. i think Roy will eventually be a 2nd line player. However, considering that we have little depth on the third line, and that he will be a rookie still, and only in his second year of pro hockey, I think starting him on the third line is a better idea. I still think we need to go out and get another elite gamebreaker for the 2nd line this summer. Also I think that Gallagher and Anderson together on the third line just doesn't work. Neither of them pass the puck enough. Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky _________ - Dach - Newhook Roy - Dvorak - Anderson Armia - Evans - Gallagher Extras: RHP and Pezzetta Would be ideal for lines 2-4 next year. Now Dvorak is a placeholder to allow Beck to stay one more year in the minors. or if you can trade Dvorak and get someone else great, but right now I don't think you are going to be able to trade him, so that's likely his spot. Same with Anderson/Gallagher. They aren't going to be traded so you have to find them slots.
  19. I don't think this is the longest hot streak of his career.... he's had good full seasons at this level of play before. Its the best he's been in a couple years (since the cup run really) though, and the other seasons were pre-pandemic so maybe harder to remember.
  20. Hutson-Mailloux What the hell? Why not pull the goalie and have Matheson with them too?
  21. I went to the game as well as I was out in Canmore for a wedding. The Habs dominated when the first line is on the ice. When the 2nd line was out there it was 50/50. The third and fourth, hemmed in the Habs end. Wolf also played really well and the Habs hit two posts, could've been a lot closer. On defence Guhle was very hit and miss. Hes getting some of that gambler from his partner in Matheson. Xhekaj played really well.
