  1. Devils have a ton of cap room with Hamilton on LTIR. They could take David Savard easily with no retention in this type of a trade. Of course we have Allen if they want a goalie or Armia for forward but neither is worth Holtz. We would have to add to those deals.
  2. Holtz has talent but for whatever reason has no trust from Lindy Ruff. As soon as he makes a mistake, hes on the fourth line again. I havent seen outward signs of bad attitude or anything like that but something is going on with him and Ruff. I wouldnt mind giving him a shot. He can score goals and would fit as a possible 2nd line winger. His play away from the puck is not great, but not as bad as youd think for how often he gets put on the fourth line by Lindy.
  3. Hes making a narrative against the current coach? Shocking.
  4. Yup... Gallagher and Pearson fell off before MSL came around. Its not a coaching issue with either
  5. By D+2, the same AGE florian is now under a PPG in the OHL. Tage thompson spent half the season in the AHL and half in the NHL. What you are completely missing is the difference in those leagues Yes Tage, and others need to add strength to play in pro leagues against grown men. But there is a difference between playing in the AHL and NHL against men and in the OHL against 16-19 year olds. Mike McCarron is a fourth line plug, barely in the NHL. He was dominant in his D+2 season in the OHL too... scoring even more than Xhekaj is. You have this weight obsession, but you miss the fact it doesnt matter in junior. Simply because hes 19, hes going to be bigger and stronger than his opponents and should dominate. He will never have the same strength advantages on a night in and night out basis in his career as he has today. He will be playing against men going forward. This is why you need the kid to show skill when playing against teenagers at 17.... not just to break out at 19 when hes literally one of the biggest, strongest players in the league. He will never have the same advantage of strength at the pro level. Yes he will be strong, but not to the point of dominating opponents as he does now. Hes gonna face grown men on defence that he cant push around like a 16 or 17 year old OHLer
  6. Whats the difference between a 1 timer and a slapshot? There is no difference other that one is hitting a moving puck and one is a stationary puck. A onetimer is still a slapshot. You do it exactly the same except you are timing when the puck is in the right spot. Serious question... did you ever actually play hockey at a serious level? These theories are just whacky.
  7. It was a slapshot. It is actually impossible for it to be a 102 MPH wrister. Literally not possible for a human being to get that velocity on a wrist shot with current stick technology.
  8. Age is by far the biggest thing you are missing in comparing 19 year olds to 17 year olds. Its so immense that it makes a dach/Florian comparison meaningless. What Dach was doing at 17 made him a third overall pick. Florian could barely crack juniors, would be passed over in the draft and it would take anothet year to be a 4th rounder. They just arent the same caliber of prospect and pretending they are just says you dont understand prospects.
  9. Exactly. By the time they are 18, and being drafted, take the talent and ignore the name.
  10. I love.sid, but at this stage of the rebuild, you cant give.a top pick for a player who will only be a hab short term due to.age.
  11. Thats where i am too. Dach, if healthy, is 100% a top 6 NHLer. The health concerns me.
  12. 1. Hutson 2. Reinbacher 3. Roy 4. Beck 5. Mailloux 6. Fowler 7. Engstrom 8. Mesar 9 Bogdan 10. Heineman For me.
  13. Comparing the 3rd overall pick who instantly went to the NHL at 18 to a guy who was completely passed over in his draft year and became a 4th rounder in his D+1 year, and extrapolating why their scoring potential is similar, is just bad... its really poor analysis. Age means far more than weight. What Dach was doing at 16 and 17 is a hugr difference to what Florian is doing at 19. And 190lb guys are not manhandled in junior hockey. Not against other teenagers.
  14. Im not saying they drafted them because their relatives played. What i said was pedigree isnt a guarantee of success as those players had pedigree too. Im saying dont move someone up for pedigree. It doesnt mean a lot. This board is overrating Iginla cause of name from where almost all scouting services have him and then basing it on pedigree. Thats nuts to me.
  15. Draft on talent, not pedigree. if the talent is there fine, but we shouldn't move someone up cause their dad or their brother, or uncle etc.. A team that drafted Marcel Hossa, Valerie Bure, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Alex Galchenyuk, Luke Tuch, Nathan Beaulieu, Jarred Tinordi, and others should have learned this lesson. If you move a player based on talent? Great. If you are moving a player up above their talent level based on pedigree? No thank you. This is not the way to scout players.
  16. Catton is a top 10 pick. I like him well enough. I just really like Helenius.
  17. Or Guhle plays with Mailloux And Hutson plays with Reinbacher Leaving one shutdown D and one offensive d on each.
  18. Buium had a great world juniors... and absolutely deserves a top 10 ranking. Hutson was the best defenceman on the US team though.
  19. I've always thought of him as the first pairing guy as being the guy you want on the ice against the opponents #1 line. I think 30-35 points is his ceiling. I think Hutson and Mailloux will be looked to provide the offence.
  20. Concussion was saturday. This is 6 days later. This isnt a wow, this is the normal course for a mild concussion. You do some light skating and physical activity. If you get dizzy or throw up or have other symptoms you stop and rest a few days. If you dont have symptoms, you do a little more each day until fully cleared.
  21. I see him getting a 1 year deal at like 1-1.5 million if bought out. He took the money. Really i dont blame him at all for that, pro athletes have a limited time frame to get paid and he took his chance. I blame Dundon and Waddell but not KK on that. Looks good on them that its blown up in their faces while the guy they let go to make room (Trochek) has done much better than KK. Would i take him back, its unlikely to be an option, and hes not my first choice for how to build centre depth. I just dont see where he fits.
