  1. I wouldn't touch a player with the last name Dumba. Only because we know what people will write on every rookie error.
  2. There's something about Weber that just rubs me the wrong way. I get an Anton Stralman vibe from him.
  3. Yeah, Chad Kilger *snickers* It's kind of interesting to me that people are celebrating the Canadiens move to size at a time when they are producing their worst record since the early 2000s. Though to be fair, we probably have our worst coaching since the early 2000s as well.
  4. And SJ has given us a first round pick before! Chicago is another team I could see interested in both players.
  5. Fowler makes really, really dumb hockey errors. The kind of thing you would see when a bunch of teenagers play street hockey kind of errors. He's a very good offensive player much like Brisebois was and has tangibles that make it no surprise he was drafted in the first round, but people who just paid attention to his numbers had him pegged in the top five. I wasn't shocked when he dropped to 12th. He's an offensive liability.
  6. He also signed another injured player named Josh Gorges. He signed Markov for the same amount he made when he was one of the best defencemen in the league. Contracts in the salary cap world are critical but GMs who can't manuever around the cap are worthless GMs. Philly has never, ever had a problem with the cap. Chicago had to pay for a previous GMs sins and got through it. A good GM can get around anything. Only short-sighted armchair GMs sweat it.
  7. People had to expect a few goals. You know Babcock chewed them out.
  8. The issue wasn't the price or the term or Markov. The issue was that Gauthier thought Campoli could bring what Wiz and Schneider have brought before. That was the mistake. But people always focus on contracts.
  9. I guess so. Better to bench on (hopefully) a win than a potential loss. I don't like the current coaching squad. They seem to be fighting with all of the players.
  10. No Lidstrom? Five goals. Make that six goals. Living in Windsor, I'm fine with this (hopefully) win.
  11. Bert? come on Kross. Everyone knows that before Bert wore a Red Wings sweater it has always been Tomas Holmstrom, quite possibly the best screener in NHL history. I think you didn't want to mention him because Holmstrom is only 6" and 200lbs but Holmstrom is unbelievable.
  12. Clearly after comments from Gauthier and Markov and now Gauthier and Betts, they want Gauthier to have a medical degree so he can properly analyze players with injuries. You know, the same medical degree 29 other GMs have and like 50 GM candidates? Gosh.
  13. Subban doesn't need a mentor. He needs someone to back up the microscope on him.
  14. For the time I watched Fowler in Windsor, I thought I was watching Patrice Brisebois.
  15. Timmins was focused on Price and Staal as "franchise players". If I remember correctly, Savard was the one who had Kopitar on his list behind Pouliot and Brule. Savard was also furious that Gainey/Timmins went with Price.
  16. But it was never going to be Kopitar. The choice was between Price and Marc Staal. So unless this is a game of unrealistic drafting decisions, I don't see the point.
  17. People need to remember that right now, Montreal is only two points up on Carolina in 15th. Two points. Trade Moen, Kostitsyn, Gill, etc. and I don't see how we're going to play any better. Other teams might be unloading as I'm not sure how Buffalo escapes their downward spiral but if Montreal keeps Cunneyworth aboard and has as weak of a second half as their first half? Montreal should do just fine getting into the bottom five. Bottom five = Grig/Yak/FLIPBERG/Galy/Gaunce IMO. We should not touch a blueliner for our first round pick. Would be a huge mistake.
  18. O'Byrne would make goal costing mistakes and be benched by JM because we were trying to make the playoffs. I don't care for Diaz, Weber or Campoli. O'Byrne stopped nobody from crashing the Canadiens net because he always lost position and allowed forwards to get right into Price's grill. You know who else would stick up for anyone? Tom Kostopoulous. Little good that did for us. O'Byrne was just Jassen Cullimore for a different decade.
  19. Joke with my friends was to call him Potofcoffee.
  20. Wins against Boston as well would be nice. Oh, and San Jose. I love it when Jumbo Joe loses to Montreal.
  21. Boring game but it's always nice to beat the Leafs. Price was big for Montreal.
