  1. Depends on the franco and depends on the anglo. Seriously, it's hard to boil these things down to that. I'd take Patrick Roy over Mike Milbury, but I wouldn't over Ken Holland.
  2. He's certainly a pretty man. My real psychological issue is why Darren Dutchy is the guy who always comes up in my dreams whenever I dream of a hockey trade or announcement. I guess the others just aren't good enough.
  3. I'm curious, why would you want Pierre McGuire? What has he proven to you? It's good to remember that the Minnesota Wild rejected him over Chuck Fletcher.
  4. The board that Commandant and I were on prior to this had a guy who was a bit of an insider (I believe he worked for Sportsnet) and said Florida was willing to take Scott Gomez if Montreal could sign Brad Richards. He didn't mention Subban a part of the deal but I'm sure Gomez was tied to something.
  5. J. Brisebois is incredibly overrated. All people ever say about the guy is that he's well liked and he was our capologist. Hurray? It'd be nice for someone to tell me exactly what he's done or what his philosophies are. I've heard more about Claude Loiselle. If it was Pat Brisson's dream to become a GM, now would be the time.
  6. It's extremely hard to trade for those guys. They usually don't become available. You usually have to draft for them. Montreal's best shot at Getzlaf will likely be if he becomes a UFA and even then, get ready to pay $9M per year for him.
  7. Damphousse just slashed fools. I love Damphousse as he's my favourite player ever and even though he effectively switched from wing to center, he wasn't really a "big' center. He just skated tall. Lars Eller is actually an inch taller than Vinny D. The last big center for Montreal that was a superstar was Bobby Smith
  8. Ah, you assume long term. I'm saying if I have no idea if these guys would sign with us, it's a trade and find out, I'm going after Perry. Getzlaf is just too many question marks to take the risk of him walking. The only reason there's these trade rumours with those two is because it's believed that even Anaheim doesn't know their plans. And the reason why we haven't seen a trade yet is because it's possible they are going straight to UFA and going after the highest bidders a la Gomez and Drury. If this is all true, then Getzlaf and Perry only have value to a Cup contender wanting a rental.
  9. Perry doesn't play dirty? I've watched Perry since London. I don't even like Perry. But if I'm deciding between a team with him or a team without him, I want a team with him. Yeah we got size on the wing but how many are going to score 40 goals? How many can even score 30 without hot linemates? Perry does it without them. I'd give up Pacioretty in a heartbeat if it meant acquiring a Corey Perry. I'd be hesitant about Getzlaf. Size or no size, Getzlaf would require his linemates to play well. Can we guarantee that in Montreal? Perry needs no guarantees. Plus with Eller's development, we'd have Eller's size with Perry's goal scoring touch on one of the top lines. That solves your size down the middle and your goal scoring.
  10. Agreed with AK but I've never liked him. I don't like players that seem to have a complete incapability to learn.
  11. If I got a choice between Getzlaf and Perry and I have no knowing they'll re-sign in Montreal, I'm taking Perry. Stronger, healthier, nastier and can get points without the help of anyone. Getzlaf is struggling this season. Perry was simply struggling for a little while. He's on fire again and we'll probably see Perry score 40 goals.
  12. His Canadiens rumours or information tend to be completely off the mark. One of Dredge's favourite lines to say after something happens in Montreal is that he's been following said trades build-up, "for quite some time" when he hasn't said a word about it publicly... ever. As Commandant has stated, his connections in Toronto are quite deep. Everywhere else? Only if he heard it from his connections in Toronto.
  13. I know it's pretty popular to want Montreal to get bigger and more aggressive, but people do need to understand that bigger and more aggressive doesn't score goals. Montreal used to make Boston look silly because Boston was bigger and stronger and won their fights and finished their checks but Montreal could get the puck in the net. I'm completely fine with Montreal getting tougher if we're rebuilding because it means we can protect the guys we do have a little better or at least give them more open ice to skate on. Otherwise, they need to be built to win, not built to be tough. There's a big difference between the two.
  14. And some people will still say, "But that goal was one he HAS to stop!"
  15. Dreger has absolutely zero contacts in Montreal so when he cooked up his list of potential GMs for Montreal, he tossed Martin up there because Montreal still has to pay him $3M next season. I'd be fine with keeping him in the organization somehow, like as a pro scout. But making him GM just because we gotta pay him next year is silly. We're not the Nashville Predators. Molson can afford it.
  16. I had a dream we traded Price and Subban for Parise, Henrique and a 1st. Darren Dutchy is always the guy who announces trades in a hockey dream. Not sure why Parise would re-sign with us but I'm sure Commandant has a comment on why I'm dreaming about Parise
  17. Yeah, it should be Nokia and Darche sitting due to Blunden playing well and Gomez playing well.
  18. I cannot understand why anyone would purchase a Canon DSLR for videography.
  19. That was great by Subban. People will still say he's sucking. Darren Dreger tried to make a list of people who would be interested in the Habs job or the Habs would be interested in. It included those three plus Doug Risebrough, Julien Brisebois and a few others. He also mentioned Claude Loiselle and Pierre Lacroix.
  20. If Montreal is trying to make the worst GM choice ever, why not have Mario Tremblay GM the Habs while Roy is the coach?
  21. John Ferguson Jr? Jacques Martin? Pierre McGuire? Dredge, you're the worst.
  22. Odd it was fine for someone to wear the C when Koivu was out, but not Gionta.
  23. Ulf Samuelsson is a coach now? Montreal should interview him
