  1. Gainey also made a swap of draft choices with the Rangers in the 2005 draft so He could draft Guilliame Lantendresse(spelling). Everyone seems to love the way this guy plays. If Guy pans out to be a superstar everyone will love Gainey. Yes the team is going through a rough time right now, but I am sure Gainey will do something to improve our Habs.
  2. Hope the Habs play better than they did against Boston last night. I was impressed by Plekanec and Higgins, they both played very well. Boullion by far was our best player. I hope the rest of the team picks it up because the Rangers caught the Flyers sleeping last night, we do not want this to happen to happen tonight. Go Habs Go. [Edited on 2005/10/6 by nut62001]
  3. Finally the Finish Flash has come back to Anaheim. I think that it is great to put another rumour to rest. I can't think of any of the rumours that I have heard over the last few weeks havecome true. Selanne, Carter, Vinnie, Witt, Aucoin, and any other that I can't think of right now. Now I hear rumours on other habs sites that the Habs are going to make a trade for Martin St. Louis and trade theo to Calgary. I wish the rumours would stop(although they are fun to read) they can be very frustrating. We still have three guys that we have to get signed, maybe we should concentrate on them. Here is a link to the Selanne signing www.sportsnet.ca
  4. With Riberio and Komisarek signing 1 year deals, will this make them unrestricted free agents after this season or will they be restricted free agents again? These 1 year contracts can be benificial as the player will want to improve his worth for the next season, but on the other hand, if they become unrestricted we face the possibility of losing them.
  5. It is great to let the younger guys play but, these younger players need a group of veterans to teach and mentor them . Letting four or five younger players on the ice at the same time could be a big mistake. They need to learn how to play at the NHL level. This could especially be disasterous for young defencmen. This position is probably the most difficult to play. Putting a young fella in this position could do some damage. All I am saying is that we need to sign some veteran players to bring our youngster up to speed with the NHL game. If we have to spend a little money now for our investment in the future we should do it now.
  6. I seen Ted Saskin and Bill Daly on the sport news this morning. They were holding a press conference yesterday. They were bickering like little kids. My three year old and nine year old can get along better than these two guys. I don't know about anyone else but I have no faith in these two guys reaching some kind of an agreement before the CBA expires. Both sides in this farce of negotiations should be ashamed of themselves for the way they act in front of the cameras. They should at least act like they are trying to come to sort of compromise instead of acting like spoiled brats at the playground. Saskin actually said its like someone making 60k and asking them to take a paycut to 40k, saying they would have issues about the paycut. There is no way to compare that to what the players are making. In my opinion the players are going to have to take some kind of paycut or salary cap(very dirty word to the NHLPA) or we are going to be without hockey for a very long time. What happened to playing for the love of the game? PS: does anyone have an email address to contact any of the parties involved in the negotiation farce?
  7. Why are we so hung up on Kovalev? There are alot of other free agents on the market that would play for the Habs in a heart beat. Gainey offered Kovalev a contract for over 4 mil a season and he turned it down. I do not want to be negative but it is obvious to me that Kovalev does not want to play in Montreal. You never hear of other tams offering him a contract. Maybe the Habs are going to be his last option. I know that Kovalev has great talent(when he feels like showing it) but does he really want to play for the Habs. Maybe Gainey should turn his attention elsewhere to find somebody who really wants to play for our team.
  8. Ryder is one of my favorite Habs. Zednik was my favorite habs until I seen Steve Begin play. Here is a guy that plays with a big heart every shift. He works hard, skates hard and hits hard. He does not score alot but when he does you have to feel good for him because the guy works his a$$ off every shift. Too bad we didn't have a couple more players like him(but with a little more offence.)
  9. The pool of free agent players is getting smaller and smaller. My concern was for a defenceman to fill the hole left by Quintal. Our defence needs to get bigger and meaner. Hainsey, I don't think, would fit this description. Is He ready to play in the NHL? Is BG working on a trade that would bring the type of dman that we need? We do have alot of up and coming young talent in the system, but we are still going to need at least two veteran players to fill the spots on the roster, a forward and a dman. :ghg:
  10. Habs resign Mike Ribeiro to a one year contract worth 1.55 mil. Steve Begin to a two year deal plus a club option. Sign Marcel Hossa to a one year deal. It is good to finally see Gainey signing some players. I hope the rest of the RFA's are signed real soon. Gainey has a few holes to fill on the roster next season, if there is a next season, some of the holes willed be filled by young guys from the farm. But I think Gainey will go after two more UFA's. One for the first line if Kovalev does not resign, and a veteran defenceman. :can::hlogo:
