The team has no direction and no rally point at all. Enough of the "by commitee" crap and name a captain, maybe then the players can get behind someone and make a stand... hell I'd even settle for making a play at this point.

LMAO @ thread title

Jim Carey, Tim Thomas. These are two examples of players that came out of nowheres as goalies, and their long term contracts don't seem very good right now. The concept of one being better than another I don't buy. There are tons of stats on this site about the opponents of each goalie, and really injuries have played a large part in the goalies success/failure. I prefer a longterm vision over short term. You can't define a career by one good/bad season, I would keep them both. If I had to choose I'd go with Price, because Halak will give you the most return on a trade, and I believe Halak is not as good as Price will be long term.
Well said !
I'd also like to point out that Price and Halak are not "close to the same age" at 22 Halak was watching NHL games on tv for the most part.
Trade Halak at the draft for some nice young guys and lets see what Price can do in the next 2 years (then he will be the same age as Halak now)
-
Great time to part ways.
-
Halak 114 goals for in 40 appearances = 2.85 GFPG on average
Price 99 goals for in 41 appearances = 2.41 GFPG on average
So I guess if Halak has any goals for tonight he will increase the lead and be even in game appearances.

I think the Kings are the only one.
Open teams right now are:
Buffalo: revv
Boston: BTH
Nashville: Fanny
Ottawa: myself
Los Angeles: no one
Dallas: goaler
Detroit: Cali
I don't think I missed any teams.
That needs to be remedied.... terrible lines, just terrible.
-
Well, he does play Edmonton more.
7-8 minutes more ice time helps too.
I prefer Benny Chicken over Tenderness.
-
Sounds like a cool league... where do I apply?
oh wait a minute .......
-
Well... Koivu supposedly had a deal ready to sign in the drawer of a desk somewhere in the Bell Centre, so really, who knows?
Right, but maybe Saku told them he would test the market..... maybe his numbers weren't good enough.... or maybe the cleaning crew threw it out. The point is that there are alot of intangibles to consider for anything that happens.

Another one of these?
Why is it all the Halak lovers make these threads just to have a place to trash Price as a bust at 22 years old?
Where was Halak at 22 years old again?

One NHL and farm team in the California area. Could be considered a contender and requires little maintenance, great for a first time buyer.
Thanks to everyone for a great ride, but my time is more limited than ever and my heart just isn't in it anymore. The timing could likely be better as well with all the empty teams, but what can ya do.
I wish everyone luck, but some more than others! (you all know who you are )
Have a good 2014 folks !

Do whatever you need to do then, I don't have the time to scout my staff and see which guy uses 5-8 squares of TP per shit.
Maybe all these stupid and unnecessary "rules" are the reason(s) people won't join/stay?
-
Rules:
1 Head Coach
3 Assistant Coaches
1 Physio
1 GM
1 Super Scout
Head Coaches must have all attributes lower than 83, all other staff members must be below 80.
Here is a list of what has been submitted thus far. Post any changes. Don't worry about posting reimbursements. I'm just going to write down the team funds before the changes are made and then put those numbers back in.
Los Angeles
- Fire HC Bruce Boudreau (already have HC)- Fire Physio Scott Green b/c 81 RE
- Fire HC John Van Boxmeer (already have HC)- Fire GM Neil Smith (too good for AHL and already have NHL GM)- Money Reset: 6,008,022
Change Van Boxmeer and Boudreau back to assistant coaches (have no idea when or why they were changed anyway). Assign Neil Smith to Scout.
-
full list of retirees (as best I can tell)
Los Angeles: Hossa
Great, another 34 year old retiree.
So much for the retiring age going up, or the "low endurance = retirement" theory.

so I'm trying to get a glimpse of everything w/out reading 1235 posts.
maca is buffalo
jets is colorado
staff rules are what they were (as of like 1-2 months ago / official announcement), but maybe not for ahl, we don't know what we're waiting for, but "we're waiting for" "it".
is there something else I should be aware of?
I didn't know about Maca as Buffalo, and I only found out about Jets big move out west after his trade offer, so you are better off then I am.

LA Confirms
My needs have been listed for a while and Backstrom was available.... mission accomplished.
Always a pleasure Jets!!
-
ahhh totally missed that one.
thanks for the heads up Jets.

LA offers 350,000 4 years

LA offers 400,000 3 years

LA offers 383,300 4 years

Even if he will take the position?
Maybe I was wrong..... it is a fact that this staff rule is the dumbest thing this league has ever done. (and that is saying something)

Firstly, Justin (Detroit) has quit, he's too busy. He may return in the future but the team is open now.
There are now 5 teams open - Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Nashville and NYR - and we can expect there to be some new GMs hired in the near future. One guy has applied already and Jets is getting some interest in his thread on HF boards (fhockey forums are still down, but I'll update my post there).
Nevertheless, we'll most likely be starting the season with 2-3 open teams. So here are my two missions for all of you:
1) Help us find new GMs! Some of you are in a second league - ask around those leagues. Or else just ask people you know in real life that are interested.
2) The new GMs will need mentors. We have plenty of people with the ability to mentor new GMs. I won't volunteer you guys. Who's willing?
If it makes you feel better, put on snazzy sunglasses and pretend these are secret missions for the... I dunno, RCMP or somebody.
Add on Mils and Colorado now
