  2. I agree that we should wait and see how it all pans out. What I disagree with is the cavalier attitude to 2nd round picks. At face value, Gauthier is trading a high pick for 'depth for the playoffs.' Given that this team has ZERO chance of winning the Cup this season, he should, if anything, be making deals in the OPPOSITE direction. Especially after last season's orgy of trading away draft picks. There was some logic for doing that last year, but not this year.

At it stands now, Gauthier is a boob in my books. It's up to him to prove otherwise with his subsequent move(s).

Not even a week into the job and you're already calling him a boob for a minor trade?

I'd buy a mirror my friend.

  3. Overdeveloping/overachievingv- he's doing better than he was expected to do.

    According to who?

At the very best the draft is an educated guess. If you asked PK (and I have) he would have told you that he is exactly where he is supposed to be.

  4. Umm, all of those bad things happened to Buffalo. His franchise was set back numerous times because he got CSB'ed with goalies he didn't need and it got him fired.

It seems like you think I'm fired up about the staff cap thing - I'm really not. I'm just volunteering to do the work so I can hopefully save my AHL staff in the case that we find the 80 limit is too low.

    Not at all, just saying.

I too hope the 80 limit is set too low

  5. I'd say draft no shows already get a pretty good shaft (at least most of the time) by getting CSB'ed and MIA guys aren't making more work for anyone. Yeah, MIA GMs suck, but at least they are not a burden.

You see it differently than I do I guess. the few not having staff cuts in doesn't burden me at all... it burdens you or the ones who have to do the simming.

The draft is hardly a shafting, the group routinely makes sure they are getting some decent players (Just as they did this year, and the few previous years) the crap part about the draft is that 15-20 guys sit there and ask about picklists, csb's and other options when they don't show, and in some cases mutually agree that they should be fired for repeat offenses..... all to no avail. But thank god we have this new staff crap huh?

Now we can reward the gms that don't show up or care enough to hire staff at all.:huh:

  7. Since it was decided that we will wait until after staff retirements are announced, the staff cuts have been pushed back. To give people time to make any adjustments, a new tentative deadline will be this Wednesday at 11 PM. I think I am now running this sim, so I have that as the tentative deadline to give me time to set up lists for any GMs who do not post.

P.S. We should punish GMs without lists somehow. Maybe they don't get reimbursed for staff that has to be fired?

So with a make work project and a rule that really does nothing but appease some we now punish guys for not doing it?

Maybe we should start with draft no shows or MIA gm's first?

  8. We're gunning to do it before the cash is reset to 5mil. I don't think it really matters if a staff member is retiring or is cut. It's a make work project. We didn't exactly appoint a 20 man committee about how best to proceed.

That's not what I mean, what I mean is that maybe a team has to cut 2 coaches or staff that fall under the "rules" now and after doing so we sim into free agency and 4 of those guys retire. Now that team went from having too many good staff members to none, and it wasn't necessary to cut anyone if he just waited until the retire point of the off season.

It would save alot of effort no?
