  1. As much as I hate to admit it, this is not an Ecklund rumor. Most of his stuff is outlandish but it is nice to see something of what some NHL teams could be considering. If you believe half of it that is.
  2. This is absolutely unreal! Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see Richards in a habs uni for the rest of his career; but to imply that a deal of this magnetude would/could be kept under wraps for 2 full days without a leak is lunacy. Even if Gainey did want to put off the announcement it would be well beyond his powers to control the various ways that such things leak out to the media. Especially in hockey crazed town like Montreal.
  3. He signed a 4 year $2.1M deal Man that makes the B's look dumb! lol
  4. Good for the Flames....they replaced Gelinas....sort of lol Stillman to Carolina as well. I'd have liked Stillman.
  5. I did some looking around because my french resembles german and found this english news on the subject. Report: Habs after Satan TheFourthPeriod.com The Montreal Canadiens are apparently very interested in obtaining the services of offensive winger Miroslav Satan, TFP has learned. In conjunction with a report by RDS.ca, Canada's French version of ESPN, the Canadiens have offered Satan a contract, along with four other teams. Satan was let go by the Buffalo Sabres this past weekend after they declined to make him a qualifying offer. In 704 career NHL games with Buffalo and Edmonton, Satan has registered 259 goals and 260 assists and 519 points. He was originally drafted by the Oilers in the 5th round (111th overall) of the 1993 draft. Meanwhile, the Canadiens will be speaking with both Jose Theodore and Mike Ribeiro in the coming days in hopes of locking them up to long-term deals. The Canadiens are also extremely interested in bringing back Alexei Kovalev, with sources saying that would still be a possibility if the Habs sign another scoring forward. I find it interesting that Kovalev would still be a possibility "IF the habs sign another scoring forward"
  6. I would like something done [like most others] to shore up our D. That is a must IMO. I could care less about signing a big name FA winger for our scoring line when we have 4-6 guys ready to challenge for a spot on the big club. The potential is there for one of them to step up and be a force [ala Ryder last season] on one of the top two lines....why not see who wants it or who can take it? If Gainey decides to sign someone, we should all have learned by now that we cannot predict anything Gainey does. The draft picks, trading for Kovalev etc all were "off the wall" or huge surprises to us all. If he does make a big move it will be something unthought of as of yet.
  7. I like the fact that the NHL will be filling draft positions from the thirty spot backwards to the number one pick. That makes the teams with 2,3, and 4 balls that much more likely to be picked sooner. Sid will undoubtedly go to the unheard of hockey towns of the southern U.S. and "rebuild the game" ala Gretzky if the NHL has a say in it [and likely does] but at least working backwards Montreal has a better chance of winning the # 1 pick then any multi-balled team.
  8. I agree! The only thing that scares me about Latendresse is that yes he will be a force but when? When I hear comparisons to Bertuzzi, Linden, Primeau I always think "yeah he will be awesome in 5-7 years". It just seems to take these big power forwards too long to find their game. Maybe I'm over thinking it too much?
  9. Grabovsky is a bit on the small side. TSN has him listed at 5' 11" 181lbs [Grabovski as well] and hockeydb.com has him listed at 5' 9" 172 lbs. Quite a gap really. Either way he is at best a long shot to ever see a Canadiens jersey. The habs already have some "small" talented players to play right now [Higgins, Plekanec, Perezhogin, Locke possibly]. It's nice to see him play well at such a high level, but he has better odds of winning the lottery then he does for making the Habs lineup.
  10. Is it still "native American" if you are Canadian?
  11. Komisarek is back with the Bulldogs....practising at least. They figure he is still 2 weeks away from his debut. He would bolster the blueline bigtime....I can't wait to see it!
  12. I'm neither a Perrault hater or supporter but I can't see him in a Habs uni next year. Koivu, Ribs, Bonk [we all forget about him], and Begin [Dowd possibly?] make the top 4 spots at centre. Not to mention the guys that will challenge for a roster spot in the fall like Higgins is expected to. Just my opinion but he would look good on the Wild....but would he be able to fit in with thier style?
  13. You can't say it any clearer then that can you? Is there a way we can send this to the NHL and NHLPA
  14. Of course it would be a good thing to get Crosby, at any cost... (Well within reason, lol) . He should dominate the NHL over the next 2 decades... Its not a certainty, but its a pretty safe bet imo. This is coming from someone who's seen him play in 10+ games (televised). I agree completely! Actually, I would go as far as to say at any cost required. I wonder how many NHL GM's would have paid Gretzky anything he wanted if they had it all over to do again? {I in no way intend to compare Crosby to Gretzky.......yet that is }
  15. I'm not sure if Carmine is on here very much if at all anymore. I think this whole lockout thing has claimed another victim to the darkside of the force:devil:
  16. Welcome aboard EG !! Bout fricken time too You're gonna love it here, a one stop site of any and all Habs info. :ghg:
  17. Richard Roy Lafleur In that order.
  18. I ended up with Cold Chinaman WTF?
  19. Hehehe. I'd like to see an NBA player try to go a full NHL game playing 1st line minutes. They'd be huffing and puffing after 3 shifts. When did "jumping, and taking hits in mid-air" become attributes of athletes? Are you still an athlete if you don't play basketball?
  20. Tony I feel your pain man. I have no clue as to why Dan Ellis is getting equal playing time with Danis. Ellis was playing good hockey in his first 2 starts and he wasn't getting any scoring support but now he has gone down hill rather quickly allowing 2 softies in the Phantoms game and now another tonight. Jarvis should call whoever he owes the favor to,and tell them that Ellis isn't getting the shared no. 1 job anymore. Didn't Danis earn the start tonight after his stellar performance last night? The Bulldogs had no business even being in that game last night and Danis was the only reason for it.
  21. So basically what you are saying is that every player in the NHL is 6' and all NBA players are 7' ? Now maybe you see why I said the last post was the SECOND stupidest thing I have ever read.
  22. I think this is the second dumbest thing I have ever read. I bet St.Louis would love to have all the NHL D-men triyng to jump up in front of his shots instead of trying to put him through the boards...and then there's the forwards! My God.... I was sucked into a comment afterall. Merde
  23. I think we all would choose a D-man from the past as that is the true need of the current team. I love the Harvey selection and I would agree completely, but noone wants to read the same selections over and over so I'll take Larry Robinson.
