  2. As the trade is being worked out all I will say is that I will be rooting for Tinordi in Arizona. Held his head high all season even though i'm sure it was a very tough spot for him.
  3. Not always a lot do go for younger players like O'reilly and Saad. Anisimov I wouldn't really call a core player he's a nice player though. I think someone made a point a while back that people mention teams would want Galchenyuk and then listed off no trades ever included a guy of Galchenyuks combination of age/ability and thus would be an over payment.
  4. Whether we had the pieces to make the trades or not I find it both funny and depressing that our GM keeps saying top 6 players don't get traded and you keep seeing top 6 guys getting traded.
  5. Sadly too much dumpster diving over the last few seasons to try to fix a major hole in the team. MB needs to find a team looking to rebuild or go in another direction rather then take on another teams garbage. Briere, Parenteau, Semin, Kassian, and he even tried to get Lecavalier before Briere. He needs another Petry type move just this time in the top 6 forward position.
  6. Can't say I'm shocked that this is happening. We've been saying for years this team needed another pure goal scorer. Take Gallagher out of the lineup and you are in trouble. You are stuck yet again with 3rd/4th liners in the top 6 and out there final 2 minutes of the game. Also missing our slump buster in Price.
  7. A lot of people mention character but once you build a core full of character guys you can go out and take risks on players, it's that group of character guys that get that one guy to buy into their group. In the end it's 1 year for 1.1 million meaning he's very motivated to continue his career in the NHL, i'm sure he could've gotten more elsewhere. Worst case if he's a serious issue it either gets the coach fired or he loses his own job.
  8. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> So far sounds like we've been in on just about everyone and have lost out thus far on just about everyone. I honestly wouldn't want Kunitz he has 2 years left and his production is starting to drop fast. Sure he can be a good 3rd liner but he would come here like Briere and Parenteau expected to be in the top 6 and fail. Pens fans have been itching to get him out of the top 6 or off the team in Pittsburgh.
  9. I didn't expect habs to be very active during free agency since I expected prices to be crazy. However, I can't really complain about many of the contracts handed out to the forwards.
  10. Justin williams signed with caps for 2 years 3.25 per.
  11. I wanted Kassian a few years ago when there were rumors he might be available. He's still young and has a ton of potential. I felt that when the season was over given Prusts cap hit that his time was probably up with the habs. I figured maybe we'd get just a late pick for him but to get a 24 year old former 1st rounder, a 5th round pick, and save some cap space is much more then I expected.
  12. The Montreal version of the trade is probably something like Gallagher and Scherbak plus Saad wants 6.5m per. Dano isn't a nobody he'd probably be our top prospect.
  13. I'm sure he did since it was rumored he did a lot of talking to Bowman over the weekend. Probably out of his price range both player wise and cap wise.
  14. Lets see if Frolik is like Jagr and says he really wants to play here but when it comes to contract wants top dollar.
  15. I highly doubt we are going after MSL. From what a lot of people have been saying is he wants to stay around the NY area and Islanders could be a serious option. It makes sense to me young group of forwards that could use a veteran forward that knows what it takes to win.
  16. I still view Parenteau as a player that can be productive if put in the right situation. Playing for Therrien was never going to work out, if they'd take him back he should go back to the islanders. All that being said I have to figure Bergevin probably has something in the works to replace Parenteau.
  17. I think he's a good above average 4th line center that fits in with the team. The 3 years is long but it looks like it was done to lower the cap hit. He made 1.9m last year and probably would've gotten around the same on open market.
  18. I am very happy with this deal. I think the contract is fair (expected more via open market), he's still young only 27 so we still haven't seen the best of him, and a key is he showed he can be a good player in Montreal. Lets not forget this is 6 years of prime years we're buying Petry on and not 2 prime years and 4 decline years. While some people think this deal might hurt the young D I actually think it's going to help them. Now that Therrien has guys he trusts to play 20+ minutes you can allow these young D to develop at their pace on the bottom pairing since he won't need them logging 18-20 minutes. I have a feeling Gilbert will be dealt for a pick at draft and we'll see Subban, Petry, and Pateryn in our opening D on the right side. Still plenty of work to do but I think this is a good starting point.
  19. He is basically the upgrade of Gorges we've been looking for. He will probably get somewhere between what Anton Stralman got last year at 4.5m and Niskanen at 5.75.
  20. It all depends, Bergevin just has to be creative. He saved the team $5.15m on the cap with his in season moves of dumping Bourque and Moen. There are a few other bodies he can move to save some more cap space if needed. Then with Petry he is just now entering his prime so if you are thinking about giving him a 5 year deal maybe you give him 6 to knock his AAV down a bit.
  21. I'm expecting an interesting offseason: - Parenteau is in the same boat as Briere last year. - Eller and Emelin were rumored to be shopped for most of the year. - 5 players are in the last year of their contracts. - A decision needs to be made on the young D. Beaulieu and Tinordi need new contracts and Pateryn is now on a 1 way deal. - The same guys had yet another bad playoffs will they be replaced since they are constantly "mentally and physically drained" when you still need 6-10 more wins to get a cup. - Everyone could see the power play is a major issue. - Where do the young players fit into the plan Thomas, Andrighetto, Hudon, and the ones that should be making their debut in AHL like McCarron and Scherbak. - Free agency isn't that great especially in the top 6 category so to improve there would require a trade. There are many other question marks and no clear answers to them so I find it's going to be very interesting since it can go in multiple ways.
  22. Is this the second year in a row that Therrien described the team as both Physically and Mentally drained after it was eliminated.
  23. Dump both DD and Plekanec both are soft and don't produce in the playoffs. Move Galchenyuk to center to replace one of them and go out and get another good center.
