  1. so does anyone feel the rangers would go for a trade like I posted ?
  2. The Habs and the Rangers are both playing below what there teams hoped. I know teams don't like to make trades with each other when they have a good chance of meeting each other in the playoffs but you have to trade with someone and in todays NHL the races are close. Here is something I have been thinking about for a while. I don't think Gainey will resign Kovalev and I don't think his trade value is too high right now with most teams but I feel there is 1 team out there that might give him a shot. The Rangers are looking to take Avery back so why not Kovalev? Kovalev has won a cup with the Rangers and he does play good in the playoffs. So here is what I hope Bob Gainey pulls off ( remember he stole Kovalev from the Rangers before ). The Habs would send ......... Kovalev 35 years old 4.5 million cap hit ufa at the end of the year 38 points in 54 games this year + Plekance 25 years old 1.6 million cap hit rfa at the end of the year 23 points in 54 games this year FOR Naslund 34 years old 4 million cap hit signed next year for 3 million 34 points in 54 games this year + Dubinsky 22 years old .650 cap hit rfa at the end of the year 27 points in 54 games Now maybe there might have to be draft pick or mid level prospect thrown in there 1 way or the other depending on which gm is smarter or more willing to make the trade. To me it feels the Rangers needs a big offensive player and a young offensive player that had a great year last year and has lots of upside to fill in for Gomez or Drury if the rangers decide to trade 1 of them this year or next. For the Habs it gives them a new look on and off the ice and maybe a chance for some of the younger player to take a leadership role in the room and on the ice. Naslund is a good power play guy and should help the Habs in that area and Dubinsky might be that big tough centreman the habs have been looking for for a while. the Habs sure would look good bigger down the middle with Dubinsky and Maxin as there # 2 and 3 centermen.
  3. My dish is acting up due to the weather so i am wondering if anyone knew where i could watch this game online ? thanks
  4. I would like to see guy change up the lines a little. They should try the Kostitsyn brothers on the same line with Plekanec or Higgins. The top line just isn't doing the job so try shaking things up for game 6 and if we lost then I am sure Koivu will play game 7 and you can put the line back to normal. kov , akos ,plec // saku, higs, skos. There is no reason to dress Ryder, Guy is not playing him in situations where he can score and Ryder is a 1 trick pony if you play Ryder, guy you have to give him ice time on the power play. If not I would rather them dress someone that can stick up for the smaller habs.
  5. I sure hope you are saying that after the game.
  6. for the love of god it says Brisebois will dress and O'byrne will be out of the line up. tsn says the d pairs will be MARKOV - KOMISAREK Hamrlik - GORGES STREIT - BRISEBOIS wake up guy, why wouldn't you play a 6'6 225 pound d man against boston?
  7. Guy please don't play Brisebois over O'byrne. If all the d are ready to go it shoulf look like this MARKOV - KOMISAREK Hamrlik- OBYRNE BOULLION - GORGES STREIT should start as a forward but be the 7th D if Bouillon or komisarek can't play.
  8. It said on tsn trade centre Habs offered Maxim Lapierre , Mikhail Grabovsky, & Michael Ryder for Hossa , if that is true I would do that in a new york minute.
  9. You might be right , Gainey would trade Higgins, but the only thing Higgins and leclair have in common is they are both american. They are 2 different players, Leclair was a big player wasn't the best defensive forward and scored most of his goals by standing in front of the net. Higgins is a small player that doesn't hit a lot and scores most of his goals on the rush not by standing in front of the net. Higgins is a better defensive forward. If you are going to compare Higgins the guy we got back for Leclair would be a better choice. MARK RECCHI
  10. Like I posted this trade will not happen because ottawa and Montreal are so close in the standing. But you underrate Huet he is an allstar goaltender and that is the position Ottawa is lacking so Gerber ( which they would love to get rid of because he is overpaid and not working out in Ottawa) and Neil ( a third line player ) and Vermette (another third line player in Ottawa) is not a lot to ask for if you are giving away an allstar goaltender. Plus Begin OR Kostopouleus would fill some of the grit left behind by Neil, yes maybe they aren't as good as Neil but Huet is heads and shoulders above Gerber. Dandy = vermette would be a lobsided part of the deal for Montreal but Vermette is a rfa at the end of the year and will be looking for 2-3 million a year, with Redden leaving Ottawa might want to put that money towards defense. This is where dandy comes into the picture he could help out as a d or a forward. Look at it this way if we didn't have Huet and Price and we needed a # 1 allstar goaltender and we had the best record in the east like Ottawa. I would bet gainey would trade Begin (NEil) , Latendresse( vermette) , and a struggling goaltender( gerber) for a allstar goal tender like just say Vokoun
  11. It is starting to look like we could be the team that comes out of the east. Most would say Ottawa is the favourite but we are right up there. So would you like to see Gainey roll the dice ? We look to have 2 # 1 goaltenders , and Ottawa has 2 struggling goaltenders. Could/would/should Gainey trade Huet to Ottawa? I know sounds stupid but hear me out. To Ottawa Huet = ufa at the end of the year, it would be 50/50 we would sign him at the end of the year. Begin = signed thru 08/09 at 1.3 million OR Kostopoulus = signed thru 08/09 at 900 000 a year. Dandenault = signed thru 08/09 at 1.75 million To MONTREAL Gerber = signed thru 08/09 at 3.7 million Neil = singed thru 08/09 at 1.2 million Vermette = rfa at the end of the year is making 1 million this year Ottawa would get that # 1 goaltender they will need to compete for the cup. Begin or Kostopoulus would replace some of the grit left behind with Neil leaving. Dandenault would be a depth player that could play forward or defense. Montreal would be taking a chance trading Huet away plus giving him to a eastern conference rival. But they would be getting back the grit they need in Neil , he would be an excellent 3 line player for Montreal. Vermette would fit Montreals plans as he is young and fast and has a lot of upside, and it wouldn't hurt he is from Quebec. He would play with Koivu and Higgins or on a third line with Neil and whoever Guy decided. Gerber brings a big price tag but he would be somewhat of an insurance policy if price couldn't handle the load or got hurt. Montreal would pick up 2 players under contract for next year (Neil , Gerber) plus Vermette that would be a rfa at the end of the year. The total $ for this year would be around 6 million. Montreal would be giving up 2 players that are signed thru 08/09 ( Dandy, Begin or Kostopoulus ) and Huet an ufa that might not want to sign in Montreal. The total $ for the year would be around 6 million as well. The Dollars would work for both teams, but montreal might be taking the greater risk?
  12. Phoenix has placed tough guy Josh Gratton on waviers, he would be a good pickup for us he could play for hamilton since they don't have a goon and he could also play up with the habs. Gratton is a winger 6'2 215 pounds can skate and is only25 years old. He makes 550 000 and if we got him on re - entry waviers he would cost us less than 300 000 $. he is a big upgrade over murray and would be cheaper. I know a bunch of you guys are going to say we don't need a tough guy , but you are all wrong yes we do. we can't have komisarek fighting and begin and kostopoulus aren't big enough to scare anyone off from hitting your star players dirty. PLEASE BOB GAINEY PICK UP A TOUGH GUY
  13. The HABS have played 7 games this year. The leafs have played 9. take a look at who was in goal for the games amazingleafs are very lucky!!!!!! 1. habs/car 3-2 win car goalie = Ward 2 habs/ tor 4-3 ot loss leafs goalie = toskala 3 habs/pit 3-2 win pitts goalie = fleury 4 habs/ car 3-1 loss car goalie = ward 5 habs/fla 2-1 ot loss fla goalie = vokoun 6 habs/ ott 4-3 loss ott goalie = gerber 7 habs/ buff 4-2 win buff goalie = miller We played 7 games all against # 1 goalie except OTT GERBER (emery is hurt) 1 leafs/ott 4-3 ot loss ott goalie = gerber 2 leafs/ott 3-2 loss ott goalie = gerber 3 leafs/Habs 4-3 ot win habs goalie = huet 4 leafs/car 7-1 loss car goalie = ward 5 leafs/nyi 8-1 win nyi goalie = dubielowiz 6 leafs/pits 6-4 loss pits goalie = sabourin 7 leaf/buff 5-4 ot loss buff goalie = thibault 8 leafs/ flo 3-2 win flo goalie = anderson 9 leafs/ chi 6-4 loss chi goalie = lalime The leafs played 9 games and in 7 out of the 9 they got to play against the other teams backup goalie !!! what is up with that ? oh and by the way they play atlanta in there next game and you wouldn't believe who will start in nets for atlanta yes you are right a back up goalie. so that will be 8 out of 10 games played this year have been against second or third string goaltenders.
