Out of one frying pan and into another. I'm not optimistic but nor was I against the Caps - for shame

Interesting that it's '06 last time it happened. Carolina arguably robbed the cup. A team this year could do the same.

MAB better be saving it for 7 if we get out of this game

I'll second thatplease put PK on the powerplay.. see what he can do with more then 15 seconds. -
And he draws a penaltyHow often does a player get the bench because it's not his fault. The refs have a problem with Laps. Give me a break. I hope Martin keeps him out on the ice -

I'm not worried about the risk - we can use all the help we can get and considering the mountain we must climb - why not?
-
Not me. I base his worth on his AHL performance, the fact he was an AHL All-Star and his Canada Junior performance. I also cite the 2 games against the Flyers....underestimating their NHLers and therefore automatically ranking call-ups higher...I a nutshell; this guy has the potential to be in superstar status but potential and reality are 2 different things. We'll see in time. Hopefully his brand of skills confuses Washington tonight...if he plays
-
Also, Washington is probably unprepared for him. They've never played him. His spin-O-rama might turn out to be lethal. He makes it very difficult for a defender killing a penalty to pressure his point because when they approach and attempt to poke; watch out - SPIN-O-RAMA and next thing you know he's heading to the goal - only worry is a forward or a player down low has to bail him out by going to the point to replace him when he does that.
-
I don't see him as the 2nd coming of Doug Harvey but I'm moreso pleased that we (if we choose to) can have a 2 pronged powerplay point units in Markov - Bergeron and Gorges/Hamrlik - Subban. Also the Philly games he played in demonstrated he can carry out the puck and/or make a safe 1st pass to clear the zone. That is all....you'd think Subban is the next coming of Raymond Bourque... -

Buffalo earned the 3rd spot so that's where I keep them until the B's officially eliminate them. It's true they moved to the 2nd bracket down but the number 2 Devils are gone.

Nope, the evolution of the tree has to work this way. Using the east as an example the Caps are in 1st and Montreal in 8th. Because the Caps are in 1st they (at the moment) retain the bracket at the top of the chart. Buffalo holds number 2 presently whereas NJ is gone. So, Caps (1), Buffalo (3), Pittsburgh (4) and Philadelphia (7) determine the slots one through 4 at this time. If Buffalo loses then Pittsburgh automatically moves into the bracket number 2 under Washington. So if Montreal advances, they'd play either Pittsburgh or Buffalo. Hmm...If Montreal wins they would be inserted into the bottom bracket due to being 8th and would lead to a Pens-Habs matchup. If Boston wins (6) they would face Philly (7).

GDT: Game 2, Habs vs Penguins

I just had a bizarre thought, but I feel it has some merit so here goes:
What's missing in these playoffs from what we are recently as fans familiar with? New Jersey versus Pittsburgh with Marty in net giving the Devil's hope and New Jersey could upset the Pens? Stalwart hockey defensive style? Gionta and Gomez were with them?
Halak is doing an old Brodeur. We are the Devil's now. We justr happen to be called the CANADIENS!
Interesting since the New Jersey recipe back in 1995 was to start the trap - coach Lemaire. Champs as a result. They stole a page out of our book since we invented the trap. Now it seems funny that Gionta-Gomez-Halak makes me feel like we stole a page out of their book
We're this years' Devils! I'll take that any day!
