It’s like nails on a chalk board (tho that doesn’t particularly bother me, it’s just an expression most understand lol). Canadiens is spelled in French, but is always to be pronounced as if it was spelled Canadians. (And def not ands!!!) I understand when the average person or even casual fan thinks is pronounced -ens, but when broadcasters or hockey professionals get it wrong - I think it is disrespectful. Just like how broadcasters (and myself) have been corrected by Romanov as to how to pronounce his name. We respect people enough to say their name the way it is to be pronounced … why can’t they show that same respect to the Canadiens!?!?

I agree on all counts fanpuck other than Staal - I do feel he is effective. I feel the only line of the 4 that are winning their battles is the 4th line. I’d blender lines 1, 2, and 3 and do as you said with the D, but keep line 4 in tact.

I was about to say that CC - we like to break it down as salaries being per game, but really it’s per season regardless of games played - preseason, regular season, post-season. the cap isn’t enforced during preseason because of the expanded roster for tryouts etc. but all regular season and post season games matter. The cap should be enforced because contracts are annual, not by game.

I’m frustrated. A little embarrassed. Disappointed after my hopes were up. I feel a little as I did when we were down 3-1 to the Maples … so maybe an amazing story is about to unfold … I doubt it … but I’ll choose to still hope. At least win 1 so the Lightning don’t win the cup in Montreal. but even if the Lightning take it in 4, I’d rather lose in a sweep than not make the Final. Tell me at the beginning of the season that we’d made the final but be swept … I’d have said heck ya, cuz although I knew we were improved, I didn’t think final 2 improved.

Habs are coming back for the win tonight. They look good. also, not only do they have DD back behind the bench, but Richardson can focus on the D matchups. This is going to pay off by the 3rd period.

Of course wanted the win, but I’m still hopeful. Habs outplayed the Lightning tonight, but were unlucky. They know they can play with them and Dom gets back and last line change. of a 7 game series, visiting team only has to win 1 road game. It’s best to get that game in the first 2, but can just as easily take game 5. just take care of business at Bell Centre boys! you can do this! I still believe!!!

Panthers won 2 games against the Lightning, the Islanders won 3 … don’t tell me the Lightning aren’t beatable for a few games at least and that gives me hope that the Habs can do it 4 times.

On paper it all looked good to start the season - then the season started and it was WONDERFUL. It didn’t feel like they were just getting the bounces or winning games they deserved to lose - they looked like a team I hadn’t seen in decades - and was so excited it was the Habs! I bought a package so I could watch all the games (I’m in Ohio) because I really believed in them. then came the slump. to me, it was a head scratcher because I felt like I saw something those first games and I couldn’t figure out what happened - quit on the coach? Injuries? Opponents adjusting tactics? after game 4 vs Toronto I quit on the Habs after believing in them all year! I told my son, I’ll watch the game because it’s what I do - but they looked dead with no hope of resuscitation when down 3-1. but game 5 - there was just no quit. Then 6 and 7. From then on, I was a believer again. The team from on paper and early this season was back - and BETTER than ever (tho perhaps a little less firewagon fun hockey - but - it’s playoff time!) I knew we could handle the Jets. I knew we could hang with the Knights (although - admittedly, I expected Knights in 6). almost all my hopes and dreams for this team have ACTUALLY come true! The perfect storm. there’s just one more hope and dream. Stanley Cup #25!!!

I know you’re right. Some will never want an expansion team to win - only the historical/traditional teams. I think the point tho wasn’t that Vegas is an expansion team, therefore be doesn’t want them to win … but more that they are such a new expansion team that in a way, never paid their dues and therefore wants them ground ‘to the sand’. I agree with him. I want expansion fan bases to have their decade of futility as they build and grow. Then they can be a contender or top tier team that wins it all and heck, even become a dynasty (except, of course, that would mean the Habs aren’t the dynasty in which case I take that back).

Thing is - you don’t let Mete go for nothing if Romanov could have gone to the AHL - you don’t burn a year so he can watch games in a bubble last playoff if Romanov is that bad - you don’t play Romanov 54 games this season while Ouelette is in the AHL if Ouelette is better than Romanov - if Romanov needed coaching/development, you play him in the AHL i just think either he mouthed off or refused to follow coach’s directions or is part of a future massive trade (as commandant wildly speculated) … I can’t see any other reason possible if Ouelette passes him on the depth chart. I was struggling enough as it was thinking Merrill and Gustafson and Kulak are actually ahead of him too

I was SOOO lucky to be in attendance for games 2 and 5 of the 79 final. Last games for Dryden, Bowman. Great memories. I know I took for granted the Habs greatness. I was 10 at the time.
