I just feel if we lose one of our Power Play QBs, we're gonna suffer this year. Thats unless Carbo can let the boys skate, cause our PP was the only thing that saved us most nights. I think I'd make a terrible GM, cause I like most of the players on the team and find it hard to find fault with them at times.

Here's an idea...there has to be more than 1.5 million habs fans world wide. If we got each of them to send $1 to Souray, maybe he'd accept the $4.5 million contract

I have to say a few things about the bashing. First off, full disclosure: I'm a huge Souray fan. Second, Markov has been burned a lot this past season, but he doesn't get lynched on the boards, he seems like an untouchable god to some. Third, We lacked socring this year and so what do people want to do? Not sign one of our top scorers. It's been two years since the new rules have come into play. There is no more clutching and grabbing, the D have to have the more radical change in their play to abide by the new rules. I just think people are being way too critical on the guy, way too critical. Sometimes I really wonder at the fans of the team why do we constantly bring down our own, undervalue a lot of players, overvalue others. Price has a good AHL run and people are already ready to give Huet his plane ticket to go away. The last time I checked the free agent market was pretty bare this summer, not to mention with the harshness of the Habs fan having players not even considering the Canadiens, we should be careful or the only players we'll have to play for our team will be draft picks.

I'm a cynic for the most part...but I hope all these talks of wanting to stay is more than just PR. I know lots go into a contract decision; location, money, direction of the team. I just hope Souray can see the potential in the Habs and want to be part of something great, instead of following a paycheck. Whos to say we wouldn't do that? If he does leave you can't fault him, but people everyday would leave one job for another if it had better pay. I hope Souray accepts the contact and its in the 4 - 4.5/year range, as much as people make light of his +/- and his defensive gaffs, we still have much trouble scoring last year.

Markov is worth the coin imo, I hope that means Souray will be like...'I want a cup in Montreal to repay them for their patience with me. I'll take 3.5 million so we can get some free agents. Then maybe people will stop bashing me on Habsworld' Hahah jk...but I hope Souray and other free agents see Montreal as a wellspring of talent for the future and wanna be a part of something more than a paycheck. Although we can easily say sure I'll take a million less a year, cause most of us will never reach the kind of salary they do. Lets just hope for the best. Markov AND Souray back would be a wet dream for me

I think a lot of people are confusing Sourays play at the beginning of the season with that of the end. At the end of the year he was playing great defensively at times, not so great at others, but damn...scoring isnt enough for some people. You want 3rd in points and 3rd in +/- before you're happy I guess. I like Markov but he seemed to gas near the end of the year but no one likes bringing that up, instead of following the crowd and ripping on a player who was a big part of giving us the top power play in the league.

I hope it comes down to all or nothing vs the leafs. Yes, it'd be great knowing for sure that we're in...but hollywood couldn't write a better script...Hockey Night in Canada...Leafs/Habs,...win and you're in the dance.

I see nothing wrong with what Tootoo did, kind of shocked any real hockey fan could. What hasn't been talked about has been the lumber chop by Modano, and I don't want to play the star card, but what the heck...he gets not even a penalty. This would have been a sucker punch if buddy came in gloves off ready to fight. No, he intended to hit Tootoo from behind and got caught, I feel no sympathy at all for the player, he got injured that is unfortunate. So in summary: Modano = star; No suspension for the lumber chop. Tootoo = Physical, emotional player defends himself; 5 games

Isn't it unrealistic to expect young players to produce so quickly? You can't take what they're done so early in their career and work out an avg and say thats what they're going to be like in five years...thats just dumb. I think Huet is a great goalie, our D has been suspect at times, so I tip my hat to Mr. Huet. People are SO 'what have you done for me lately' at times it makes me sick.

Souray could walk away at the end of the season...and we'd have nothing...but a stanely cup ring! Thats right! I'm calling it..if we keep Souray we will win the stanely cup!! We wont get a top centre back from the Souray trade...the only teams interested in him are contenders...they wont trade us a #1 liner for Souray...keep dreaming, and have a little faith.

I disagree Justintb...I feel no confidence with Abby in net, I feel like every PP is a goal against, he lets in the back breaking goals early and late in the game, that if you wanna be a number 1 goalie you have to save. It's hard to judge a goalie by one game, but Halak didn't look out of place as much as I've seen from Abby. I'm no hockey expert, but get into the playoffs and you're have just as much chance to win as the other 15 teams, ride a hot goalie all the way just like Carolina did last year. With all the recent upsets how anyone can say they're not serious cup contenders are crazy. Look at how tight 10th to 4th is in the east, are the top 3 teams that much better than everyone else? The sabres, yeah, they're fast and skilled, the devils have Brodeur, they're not unbeatable. I need to change my name it Hopelessly Optimistic I think. Everyone keeps talking about next year, and the 100th anniversary, why do people have so little faith in this year?

I love the Habs...I watch in french for poops sake. I feel bored when theres no Habs game on..the all star break was killer. I get frustrated, mad and yell at my tv..haha my neighbors must think I'm crazy You know, I sort of love it. I love the underdog, I love the lowered expectations, I have full faith the habs will slip in the playoffs, everyone says but we're 2 pts out of a playoff spot..yes but we're what 4 pts out of 5th? Also...what team has the habs played their best hockey against ... Buffalo!!! Maybe this is all a conspiracy to get Buffalo in the first round!!! Gainey and Carbo you two are tricksey! I'm real glad everyone is trying the reverse curse by saying the Devils are going to win in effort to trick fate...thats it isn't it? There really can't be habs fans that are so fickle?
