  1. We as fans can easily toss out this deal, that deal..but PG is something we'll never be an ACTUAL GM. If being a GM was as easy as some posters on this site make it out to be we'd all be them. The anger expressed here is disheartening, lafrous10, you're new here, but we don't exactly use that kind of language or attitude here. Things can get heated see: Halak vs Price debates, but we are all habs fans here, why the need for insults? I realize Commandant shot the first volley with his insult, but what he said was correct. I've tried to agrue with my co-workers about contracts before...they are gambles, they gambled on Markov..and we will not see whether it will pay off this year, next year.
  2. The habs during Gaineys era were built on the post-lockout NHL, you know the zero tolerance on obstruction that lead to a lot more skating and PPs. The NHL has relaxed upon this ...a LOT, but the habs team has not evolved with it. The bruins was floundering under the zero tolerance system, while the habs were flourishing with their fire wagon hockey. The tables have been reversed, so the habs need a shift in philosphy, but this cannot happen over night, you cant snap your fingers and grow 3" and gain 30 lbs. To those that quote the habs dynasty's of old, you need to let that go...there are not dynasty's in any sport anymore, which is a good thing. Parody is what sells in a league, look at how well the NFL does parody. PG could very well be not the right guy for the job anymore, infact I'd rather they got their new GM before the trade line, if thats the route they are going to take. Let the new GM get his philosphy in place, plan his trade deadline deals. I've sort of gone on a tangent, so TLDR version: change is coming, it takes time, there is no quick fixes.
  3. I am unhappy. Haha...I am not happy at all...not at all. This hasn't addressed the habs needs at all. So salty...
  4. The argument about money is a red herring. Having money available doesn't guarantee players will come here, it's been well documented that the habs have offered more money to players only to have them scoff the habs and sign with other teams. The solution to the habs problems cannot be boiled down to one thing, it's a collection of factors, which is the case in most problems. I'm in the minority about Markov and was glad the habs FINALLY took a risk, I hear a lot of talk about the habs not wanting to risk signing Gorges after his surgery and how that was a mistake, yet they did the same with Markov and THAT is a mistake...you cannot have it both ways. In regards to Cammys comments, it would hold more weight if he was doing anything productive. Sure he has like 4 pts in his last 5-6 games..but unlike Plek, who actually has tangible benefits opposed to scoring, Cammy does not, if he's not producing on the score sheet, he in invisible. I apprecaire the honesty of Cammy but it's very hard to swallow when he's under performing. I agree the habs play not to lose, and I suspect that is a trait that was ingrained by JMs style of hockey. I want players to make mistakes trying to keep a play alive, how many times has the habs D backed off instead of trying to keep the puck in the opposing zone. How many times has the habs linechanged early when Cole carries the puck into the opposing zone only to have no support. There needs to be a shift in philosophy, but you cannot just flip a switch and say "Ok boys do this"...it has to be gradual. I've seen changes in the habs with their forechecking since RC took over, but it's not enough. Players aren't going to want to sign with the habs after they see this defensive shell of a system where players post career low, it's bad for future contracts. I never though I'd miss the firewagon hockey under Carbo, but at least when they were down by 2 goals in the third, I knew the game wasn't over.
  5. Hah Brian....I was just joking about last GDT...but we need a sacrifice to the hockey gods...any suggestions...we need to apease them!
  6. I blame Brian for this loss! You spit in the eyes of the superstition gods Brian...why didnt you make the GDT!!!
  7. They look like they dont even care.
  8. The season is over if this is all the pushback they can muster..
  9. What did RDS just say about Gionta?
  10. Yeah, they had like one good shift but was terrible for the rest.
  11. The cammy gionta plek line needs to be broken up.
  12. God damnit Cammy is killing me...so useless.
  13. It's not my turn for the GDT so I'll wait to see if Brian wants to risk the streak and let me do the GDT....while you're here...take a look at the the chief de canadiens (haha is this anywheres even close to correct? My french is terrible) when he was a player:
  14. Haha I'll take that bet Chris...name the wager on if the Habs make the playoffs or not haha...
  15. Haha Eller was loving the crowd during three stars.
  16. OMG is that the old goal song...awesome.
  17. Send Leblanc down if you're not going to play him..this is absurd.
  18. Does it matter really what language the coach speaks? It's not like recent habs coaches talk much to the media anyway.
  19. Hmm I am shocked at the demotion of Leblanc to a scratch...he HAS to be better than Blunden and Weber and Darche...he seemed to just be getting his stride...I'll never understand NHL coaches.
  20. So disillusioned with this team right now...I use the term team loosely at this point.
  21. Habs get the only call? Are you shitting me?
  22. You notice the habs flank Emelin after Price covered? Like the team unity.
