  1. the montreal canadiens are poised to finally take ahold of the torch and hold it high again. les canadiens sont la!!!! nananana heyhey goodbye!!!!! ole ole ole oleeee!!!! it's great to be a habs fan!!!!
  2. they seem to get an awful lot of oddman rushes as well, product of the overall team speed and our underrated defense making great passes.
  3. i like marchant but no i don't think he fits into montreal's plans right now as we don't have room for him. as far as all this talk on ribeiro...i can't believe i am seeing such negativity regarding him, he definitely fills a role and does it well. by reading these posts, i come to the conclusion he is extremely underrated by some. his transition game is impressive and he is offensivley gifted. i would hate to see him leave montreal. just appreciate him for what he does out there game after game. i can't believe i even have to defend him. what are any of you seeing that i am not? actually please don't answer that, enough with the negativity. go habs go! les canadiens sont la!!!! 4. there should be the same amount of points available to be won in each game. i would be happy with either of these two options: Option One. 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime or shootout win, 1 point for an overtime or shootout loss, 0 points for an overtime loss; Option Two. 3 points for a regulation or overtime win, 2 points for a shootout win, one for a shootout loss, 0 for a regulation or overtime loss. I prefer the second option but the point is this...there should be the same amount of points available to the teams each game. it is not right that some games award two points and some three. right now if anyone other than montreal is playing i don't care who wins as long as one or the other wins in regulation time. i prefer having a winner every night but a shootout winner doesn't deserve the same amount of points as an outright hockey game winner. an added benefit to awarding 2 out of 3 points to the shootout winner is to recognize that it is not quite the same as outright winning the game and it will cause teams to actually go for the 3 point win. thank you for making this thread cause i had this argument with friends a few days ago and was thinking of posting something like it myself.
  5. i for one happen to like this guy and hope he has a nice long career here...i also happen to think we should keep the second line intact for 20 games and make a decision then...patience is a virtue, especially when you are winning anyway. although i do admit that we now have a "nice problem" in that once zednik is ready we do have 13 forwards and only 12 spots and i really don't wanna see perezhogin sitting either, or anyone else for that matter. in my own humble opinion, i actually think bonk has been our weakest forward performance wise so far...looks really slow to me and magnified by all the new speedy guys we have flying around out there. anyway, that's how i feel but there will probably be enough nicks and bruises that we can keep all 13 forwards playing a role. i also don't think we should have a tough guy just for the sake of having one. john kordic or chris nilan, sure because nilan was also a decent player and kordic was so intimidating but ivanans doesn't seem to have that fierce mentality at all...he got hurt because he was so tentative...kodic woulda killed chara or died trying but he wouldnt have just waited for him to start throwing. okay i am rambling i am tired and sorry but started off by just wanting to stick up for dags who i believe will score an awful lot of goals in this league and i prefer they were for us. now i go get some sleep...goodnight all.
  6. my bold prediction is the habs win the cup this year and theo wins the conn smythe. he's the real deal although he is admittedly struggling at the moment. he just needs one big playoff run that i believe is happening sooner rather than later to catapult him into superstar status that he flirted with a couple years ago.
  7. not to nitpick or anything but if i recall correctly they each got 7 minutes in penalties for the altercation so obviously a good trade for us to lose ivanans and them to lose chara for that long. however, i was not impressed at all with ivanan (admittedly first time i saw him fight and would like to see him again before judging) in that fight. definitely no john kordic, that's for sure and i agree with the sentiment that we should not dress a fighter right now anyway we are better served with youth, speed offense etc. i would rather see dagenais dressed than ivanan.
  8. i'd start off the season with kovalev, zednick and ribiero myself, and go from there. on another note, i wonder if eventually the shootouts will trickle all the way down to kids minor hockey, and the other rule changes for that matter.
  9. i usually press mute when pierre mcguire, glenn healy, or during cfl games when glen suitor start talking.
  10. i'm just glad he didn't come to montreal...over-rated and over paid in my humble opinion.
  11. i hope we don't mess with the zednik - koivu - kovalev line. this could be the best line in the league this year. i can't wait for the season to start.
  12. 104 and the stanley cup of course. theodore gets his first conn smythe.
  13. i hope montreal uses this opportunity to let danis show what he can do in the regular season. barring theo getting hurt, i don't want us to bring anyone else in. if danis struggles, we can rely on theo carrying the load.
  14. i agree completely with those predictions on who makes it kaos. it's nice to see hossa earning a spot so far...this is the one i was kinda skeptical about but he is earning it.
  15. 1. henri richard 2. maurice richard 3. jean beliveau 4. ken dryden 5. jacques plante 6. bob gainey 7. larry robinson 8. guy lafleur 9. steve shutt 10. serge savard
  16. i'd kinda like to see danis get a chance too...although i think theo will be carrying the lions load barring injury.
  17. one year deals are great for the teams in most cases anyway cause then the players have to work their butts off.
  18. good point. and he'll prolly get even better. kinda off topic but i remember koivu being tied for league scoring one year early in his career and then suffering a bad knee or leg injury and never quite being the same...hopefully ryder will avoid the same fate.
  19. ch_nl, in my opinion theo is better although one could argue either way. i think theo is more likely to carry a team through the playoffs someday soon. you are right about ryder being the part that makes no sense. too many times montreal has traded guys or included them in deals right before they blossom somewhere else, and in this case ryder appears ready to blossom in montreal. so i for one am sure hoping they keep him.
  20. this would be a horrible trade for montreal. theodore is better than luongo and trading ryder right now would be a horrible mistake. this is the kind of trade you would expect of irving grundman serge savard or rejean houle. not sam pollock or bob gainey.
