  1. Read this one on Ekland. Ducks are today really big players and trying to deal for Souray. The deal I am hearing is Bobby Ryan, a prospect, and a pick. Don't know why we need another right winger. Maybe for the future, but it seems we are thick on the right wing. Doesn't make much sense to me. The Sharkes trade seems a lot better ... for either a center or a D.
  2. Well I guess through the perspective that the Lion of Winter almost got whopped by a Saber-tooth ... which is pretty good since a Lion should get whooped by a Saber-tooth
  3. I've said it before, Kovalev is way to selfish for this team. He has been called the Tin Man before for a reason ... he has no HEART. Unless Carbonneau can kick his butt a bit we should get rid of him, or sit him until he gains the desire to play, and play as a PART of the team ... and not the star of the team. I love Kovalev, but he doesn't play for the habs ... and I love the habs more. We still need a second-line center though, so I would give him another shot once we have one .... and a Carboneau ass chew too.
  4. Wow, the Canadians showed SOOO much heart tonight. Refusing to give up. They played hard as a team! Good stuff. Way too many penalties ... but I like the heart and energy of the young guys. Looking forward to getting Higgins and Rivet back, Begin too. However, as I said, Kovalev needs to visit the Wizard of OZ for a heart before he comes back.
  5. I'm glad he scored ... super glad .... but he has to do a lot more before I regret that we signed him.
  6. Yeah, hard to be wrong when you play both sides ... I thought the habs weren't going to score again! D. A. !!!
  7. Nice prediction D.A.! Wish I could watch this game ... sounds great. How is Kostitsyn playing on so far?
  8. Looks like Higgins is doubtful for tonight. "If (Higgins) is on the trip, it's because we think he'll play in (at least) one of the two games," Carbonneau said. "It's a big relief, especially with the injuries we've had." Full story here: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news...a56&k=13598 Love to see Kostitsy take Higgins place on the first line for some of the game and see if he gels with the line better than Latendress. Tender is doing well, but he hasn't been lighting it up on the first line ... I don't think that he plays there style.
  9. No one wants Samsonov at his salary. Bob tried to move him ... he even waved him. Also, Samsonov may be trying, but he isn't producing. I think it is time someone else got a shot at his minutes ... and if he wants to complain, he can go to the AHL. Samsonov's biggest problem is he doesn't have the right center to feed off of ... and it doesn't look like that will change any time soon. ANyway, looking forward to hearing about Carbonneau's decision. And I hope that Higgins plays and carrys over the momentum from the last match.
  10. I'm hoping they bench Samsonov. He's isn't putting up the points, so lets see what Kostitsyn can do. Will be interesting to see what actually happens.
  11. Big Bird was a good one too! Mario Tremblay I'll never forgive him for his role in the Patrick Roy fiasco (just read about it again in a TSN article, which made fresh my rage).
  12. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=197041&hubname=nhl
  13. I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope ATHLÉTIQUE.CANADIEN is 100% right and that the Habs will take the rest of the season by storm .... more news at 7:00!
  14. It remains to be seen ... but Mikko is definitely a lot bigger than his brother, which, if combined with Saku's skill, would make him a great player. But he is still young (he was the 6th pick in the draft though, so the scouts must think he is good).
  15. I believe the point is not that you should have faith, but rather, that you shouldn't be delusional. I hope they go on a 5+ game winning streak, but I always do. Also, who knows if they worked out whatever problems they have been having; I doubt that it was just that they felt bad and needed something to lift their spirits (this isn't Zoolander, and no mocha frocha pochaccino is gonna fix it). Maybe it was just that they needed to start thinking team instead of Kovalev ... I don't know. But, we ought to let them get some momentum before dubbing them the lions of winter. For the last month they have been pussy cats. But hey, that's just my advice .... do what you will ... but when you post, people will reply.
  16. I think that if he falters, then Danis should be given the next shot. I mean what does this guy have to do? He does super well in Hamilton, plays super well in the NHL, then we keep Abie in the NHL and leave Danis in the AHL forever. No wonder he had problems with consitency. However, I think Halak is awesome ... and he would have to goof up more than one game to be sent back down.
  17. Not so sure I agree. I don't even think the Bertuzzi incident was that bad. The only reason he is in trouble for that one was the guy got hurt, and I don't believe you can pin the blame for injury entirely on Burtuzzi (the pile up may have caused some of it), and the guy who got it had tried to cause injury to Nalund ... so, live by the sword, die by the sword. Not what McSorley did was unpardonable. Same for the hit on Turgeon by Hunter (I believe), as well as all those other idiots every day that do after knees. Those are the guys who really get me. Perez got mugged by someone bigger than him. Is it his fault that he is a good player who drew attention? No. You go after someone viciously then you better expect to get something back. And if that getting back unfortunately leads to a bad injury, well that is partily your responsibility for playing that style. I got no issue with Scott Stevens even laying out Lindros, because that is what Lindros did all the time. Eye for an eye may leave everyone blind ... but then again, at least you aren't the only disadvantaged one eyed fool out there!
  18. If we trade Souray it really ought to be for a center and a D (prospects). We have lots of wingers in the wing (couldn't resist). We will need someone for the second line, and someone to replace Souray. If we can get close to that with prospects it would be a good deal. If not, keep Souray. I really like the idea of getting Mikko, but it would be an unbelievable coup on our behalf.
  19. I give what I get ... you are rude, I will be rude in kind. I have no problems with people disagreeing with me, but I have problems with people being flippant or disrespectful towards me or others. Furthermore, if you had been reading my posts all along you would see that I was not in favour of tearing up the team. I think getting good value for Souray as a rental is a smart business decision. I also think we have a few players who have been a bit lackluster, and in my opinion it is because they don't want to be on the team. I also believe that we are nearing and end to a re-building period ... so our time most probably isn't now. So, your assesment of me, or my opinions concerning the direction of the team is wrong. If you think it is better to stay the course, fine. I have no problems with that. You may, in fact, be right. And I would not disrespect your opinion on that unless you said something infantile like "blah, blah, blah". But you have somewhat acknowledged that you shouldn't have said that, and so I will somewhat acknowledge that it takes a big person to say that they were wrong. No harm, no foul!
  20. So what are you saying? That they will now go on a tear reminiscent of the first part of the season? That they will be winning around 68% of the remaining games? You are so certain? I am not. But hey, if you can foretell the future go buy some 6/49s and make lots of dough. But if you can't you have to acknowledge that your guess is as good as mine. And if you are getting hot and bothered by the fact that we won two (2) games in a row, then you are probably the kind of guy who falls in love with a girl who happens to look at him one night while she is scanning the room looking for an exit, and then hooks up with the palm sisters later, thinking to yourself, "I could have had her if I really wanted". I'm saying, woh, we haven't scalled the mountain yet ... you are saying, its in the bag. Their are many expressions that say that my position is wiser, such as "don't count your chickens before they hatch", or "two in the bush is worth one in the basket", or "you never count your money when your sitting at the table" etc.
  21. Yeah, the kids are doing great. I'd like to see management move some of the people presently out, like Rivet, Kovalev, and others like Samsonov (and Souray if the exchange rate is in our favour). If we can draw more youth, and then not put such a burden on the Bulldogs when we call players up, I think that we will have an exciting team that will start developing well together.
