  1. 7:30 tonight. Lets see if the dogs can bounce back ...
  2. Interesting article on MTLs trade hopes: http://www.tsn.ca/tsn_talent/columnists/insider_trading/ I agree with them that it may be hard for the Habs to be a player in the market unless they are willing to give up some youth, or key ingredients like Souray or Abie. I have no expectations of winning the cup this year. Maybe the Habs should be looking to be sellers and move Souray for some good youth. If we make it to the playoffs if will only be a couple of rounds. And, personally, I don't like the idea of unloading Perezhogin, Grabovsky, Kostitsyn, Plecks, etc. So unless we can score someone for very little, or make a deal for one of our trade baits ... I expect us not to get some big named second line saviour. Bob's hands may be tied.
  3. I'm wondering why this thread exists? Does it make you feel better to complain and offer suggestions on how to fix things when you 1) have no clue what's going on behind the scenes, and 2) have no way of affecting change? It certainly doesn't make me feel better reading all this junk. Support your team, hope for the best, and trust in the experts who have a good track record. It is an excercise in respect. Gainey and Carbo do not deserve to be second guessed by Hickey or Todd ... and much less by you. I assure you they are doing their best. And even if the habs don't win this year, Gainey et al have only been here a short time ... and like Rome, the team won't be built over night. In 2 years time we may have a legitimate shot of winning the cup ... this year we will be lucky to get past the first or second rounds.
  4. One of the richest orphans in history ... A N Smith was worth quite a lot after her gold diggin' days.
  5. It wasn't a direct quote, but what Dumpsamsonov hardly said anything that warrants banning, especially since when users who are not mods say are receive similar comments they aren't banned. Here is what DS was banned for: "QUOTE(dumpSamsonov @ Feb 9 2007, 12:49 AM) * LOL 2 moderators contradicting each other, one tells me I won't gets banned for disagreeing with the mods and the other tells me he's going to ban. Laughable. You guys are on a real power trip." To which Fanpuck responded, "You had your chance, and you blew it within an hour by flaming again." ... I don't see that this is flamming. And, as I just said, the only reason he was banned was because he wrote it to a mod, and not to a regular forum user. I see no strawmen arguments here. NEway, what does flamming mean here? It should be clarified. There should be transparency. I'm not trying to give you mods a hard time. I don't envy your task. I did it before on my own forum and had enough of it. But, I was always very transparent, and I explained my actions. Of course, post merging doesn't have to be explained, but bannings and deletions ought to be. Also, mods have to be very careful of what they say since they must set the example.
  6. What does flamming mean on Habsworld? According to fanpuck it is insinuating that mods are not the best people on the world. I submit this thread as an example: http://forums.habsworld.net/index.php?show...c=10526&hl= Whereas on-line dictionaries state that flamming means either: 1 . Computer Slang. an act or instance of angry criticism or disparagement, esp. on a computer network. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/flaming) or 2. An online argument that becomes nasty or derisive, where insulting a party to the discussion takes precedence over the objective merits of one side or another. (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=flaming) I think that it ought to be the second ... when things get nasty or derisive. If it is anything less than that, or if it is what "Tradesamsonov" or whatever his name is, then I think that some moderators should have been banned at this point, because it is quite common here to read peoples "angry criticism" (read any recent game thread as evidence). I think things ought to be taken down a notch. If you don't like what a person writes, don't read it. Too many people respond to too many stupid posts. Just ignore it. I personally thing handles like Tradesamsonov, or killbush, are stupid. I would never do it. And I tend not to interact with people who do, because they are usually reactionary. But to ban them, or to argue with them, is just to encourage them. If you ignore a child throwing a tantrum then they are less likely to do it again ... they are seeking attention ... you shouldn't give it to them. Sorry for the moral lesson ... but there has been some heavy handed modding recently. Don't envy your job ... but at the same time, don't get self-righteous in it either. It will cause you more harm than good in the long run. Habsworld ought to be more clear on their policy.
  7. So you get what you want, other fans get what they want. And the teams play for an extra point. No harm, no foul. I personally think it is exciting and adds a new dimension to the game. Furthermore, there are things that happen in the 65 minutes that I don't see as hockey. Like the trap, fighting, clutching and grabbing etc. You take the good with the bad ... and try to enjoy it as much as possible.
  8. So what is your solution? 5 minute overtime? Draws? How is that any better?
  9. Me too. I prefer sudden death overtime ... but that is only practical in the playoffs. After that, shootouts are the best. Very exciting ... stimulates the heart in a rather nice way.
  10. Goal achieved. Humble pie served and eaten: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=195240&hubname=nhl
  11. 3 mins to go ... and stories take time ... so in reality, we won't know for about 1 hour for shizzle. More news against the Sens IMO ... unless he is claimed. t = 0:00
  12. Garth Murray was put on Waivers without going to the minors earlier this month. So, Sammi could do the same. They might just be testing the waters, or sending him a message. He could be back on the ice against the Senators in a day after eating some humble pie; or he may have played his last game for the habs. Very unlikely he will go to the minors IMO ... but, I am not Gainey. All things should be clear in a couple of days though.
  13. These next 4 games are super important ... and it is a great opportunity for Kostitsyn to distiguish himself. If he still racks up the points, and the Dogs do well, he may get another invite to the Habs.
  14. Both years will count. That is why it won't happen. Doesn't make sense. Sammi probably won't be sent down to the minors. They don't want to get rid of him that badly ... unless we sign someone with a large contract sooner rather that later.
  15. Me thinks your clock runs fast! It is about 24 mins now.
  16. I would have liked to have seen Sammi with Koivu though. Don't know why it didn't happen. Maybe some thing we don't know. Also, was starting to like the Bonk?Samsonov line. Gave it a whole new dimension. Still, Gainey is one smart whip!
  17. I'm hoping that he will clear waivers, and then he will see that there is no market for him, and then he will STFU and stop asking for trades. or That he will be gone and Gainey pulls a big move that finally solves our woes.
  18. Me thinks you are a might bit ticked at the Sammi sit'.
  19. All hail the hockey genius! BTW, how much does a hockey genius get paid ... I mean, the non-GM types? Do they even get a lot of action from the ladies? What are the benifits?
  20. Yes, but we have two (2) goalies in the top 11 in save% in the NHL. TWO! And we have the highest scoring defenceman in the league ... so, you got to look at your strenghts, not your weaknesses. Unless you want to be a self-depricating fool ... then it is up to you.
  21. I think that Hickey is right ... sucky over priced players may not want to come here. The ones who will give it everything, and want to win everynight will have no problems. Also, if you are looking for reasons not to come here, taxes are a far greater concern.
  22. We will see how important Grabovski is to the team, and Kostitsyn's success very soon. 4 games in 5 days: http://www.hamiltonbulldogs.com/index.php?...lay&nid=468
