  1. oups, I of course meant "not a future 1st line" in my firt sentence.
  2. Am I the only one that thought the commercial was really cheesy? I really wasn't shocked by the commercial. They tried to portray the image of a "real man" going to battle and used the beautifull women sidekick to underline that image. Is the women in "servitude", in a sense yes. Is it shocking, I personally don't think so. At least here the selling image is the warrior dude (which the women promotes) and not directly bearly clad #### used to sell beer and what not. For what it's worth, I think this is a strom in a tea cup. Not much to offend the mainstream here. What I would find more interesting is peoples view on the commercial itself. Do you think the warrior dude with his beautifull women by his side is an effective way to promote the NHL. I personally think it look self-conceited and cheesy.
  3. As some of the replies have stated, these are 3 different type players not, collectively, a future 3rd line. Lats has showed great potential to becoming a future 1st line power forward; Chipchura has showed potential to become a good 3rd line center; and Kots, well is more of a questions mark (although all these guys are prospects and thus inherent question marks), and could be anything from a bust to a defensively responsible 3rd liner with offensive upside to an all out 1st line star. Don't think anybody can predict the first line in 8 years, but I understand the fun part of the speculation. I just think the chances of those 3 guys ever forming a dominant 1st line are none existing.
  4. For those of you who had the chance to see him play, what were your impressions? Do you think the kid will one day make it in the NHL?
  5. Think it will be #84 (sort of advance pay for things to come) Seriously, i think it will be 19 and 33.
  6. However, judging from how Hossa and Lats played together on Tuesday, the best way for one to promote one's best interests is to play the collective game....Adam Smith had it the wrong way aroung I guess
  7. If Ribs was inclided to do something like that, I doubt it would be too apparent. I'm more curious to see how Dags and Lats play together.
  8. Thanks for all the updates guys. I'm stuck on a late evening at work.....but keeping a close eye on your posts. thanks.
  9. Habs red with Corson on it (have had it since I was a kid)....not too sure where that thing could be. Also have an old University jersey with "Hameliche" on it (reads in french....phonetically)
  10. We of course can't be sure that there is any factions within the Habs, but I don't think that we can infer from the fact that Ribs (or any other player) is a "professional" that he acts based on the objective best interests of the team and not based on his personal preferences. I see all kinds of petty behaviour in many so called established professionals in my field -heck even see it often in people of very high office- and don't really see why that would be different with 20 something year old hockey players. Not saying that Ribs is smallishly trying to promote his buddy over the team's interest (not saying Koivu is doing the same with a Rivet), what I'm saying is that the fact that these guys are "professional hockey players" doesn't at all, in of itself, preclude that.
  11. I take it this probably means that time has run out on a guy like Duncan Milroy (a 2001 second rounder) with the Habs. He has got to be out of the teams's radar after failing to make it past the first cuts 4 years after beeing drafted.
  12. I'm guessing he didn't come cheap. Probably in the 5.5M range (maybe even a bit more). I think that would be the price to pay to get him on a three year deal, which would have been the Habs preference. I think that's acceptable as doing a longer deal would have been the greater risk. But what do I know, maybe Bob got him at a better price (which would be quite to Bob's credit).
  13. Financial info hasn't been released. I was hoping for a 3 year deal. Anything longer would have been too risky under a cap system. This way they have secured a top goalie for at least 3 years and will re-evaluate their needs at that time. Maybe a guy like Price will be ready to step in at that time at a much lower price (no pun intended).
  14. sportsnet is reporting that Luongo refused a 5 year / 25M offer from Florida minutes before arbitration. Same article states that Luongo is rumoured to be requesting a trade. I can only speculate, but it seems, from the outside, that Roberto is extremely upset with the disrespect Keenan has showed him by bringing him to arbitration and seems to want nothing more to do with the Panthers. It's looking like Luongo will be traded (and I don't think mtl will be the destination). If this happens, Keenan should be fired. I can't even begin to imagine what he was trying to do playing Luongo like that. Figure he just stupidly tried to play hard ball in negociations and it backfired. Letting relations with your young FRANCHISE goalie get to this point is unexcusable. This is horrible management from Keenan. If Keenan is now forced to deal Luongo, the Panthers should deal Keenan to the garbage can.
  15. Eklund is reporting St-Louis signed in TB for 6 years for 5.2M a year. Eklund is often wrong when speculating, but right when affirming that something is done and will be anounced. As far as I'm concerned, this is pure madness from TB's part. 6 YEARS!!!!! That is ridiculous. Guess that's what it took to sign St-Louis (to help his ego recover from the fact that he is making less than Lecav).....but it's too much. Nothing left for Richards in 2 years. Am I the only one that thinks that Richards is the real TOP talent on that team. I could understand Vinny, but I was sure they would let St-Louis go and keep Richards.

  17. Anybody here understand (or rather thinks they have a rational explanation for) what Keenan is doing? I don't get it. Pissing off your star goalie like that!!!! His agent is now talking more and more of a trade. What's the deal. You figure with a guy like Luongo on your team, you thank your lucky stars and treat him right. What's with this 3.?M/yr multiyear offer or worse taking him to arbitration and suggesting 2 point something. Luongo wasn't being unreasonable, he just wants his market value.....and Luongo is one of very few players that actually is worth (cause of what he brings to a team) his full market value. I don't get Keenan. Guess he feels that star goalies aren't that important to a team as to warrant a big piece of the cap pie. I think he is dead wrong! I'd also forget about Luongo in Montreal (although I would love it). Keenan doesn't want to pay more for Theo than what he's willing to dish out for Luongo. I think Luongo will be dealt within the next two years but it will be for a player playing a position that Keenan feels is more "important". The Luongo to Mtl rumours were started by his agent (a Montrealer) to try get things moving with Florida. That's all.
