  1. ___________________________________________ "They also lost Adam Foote, Selanne and Kariya (and Worrell). To replace these four players they signed Turgeon and Brisebois (and May, Laperrière.) They're a much worse team but still above average." __________________________________________ I think to make a comment like this you obviously watched very little AVS hockey last time the puck was dropped. Karia was so brittle that anything near him caused him to be injured, thus out of the lineup. Selanne, same thing injured or a no show every night. Worell, missed so many games because of injury and really has no talent. Now look at the new guys. Laperrier, better than Selanne(Glad the habs didnt get this useless player) in that he puts up with crap without hiding on the ice. Brad May is all grit and can score. Turgeon is effective offensively. What about : Sakic, Tanguay, Hejduk, Konawalchuck, for core forwards and Blake, Liles for Core D. Colorado is what Montreal should emulate as they draft incredible players while still at the top of the standings and attract big name guys when needed. Colorado will be an effective team again this year with that core. Plus, most of them have won a stanley cup or two!
  2. Jetsniper makes a good point about Aebischer. Colorado is all out offense and if you slow down their forwards just blast past you. Aebischer on many nights put out many comeback attempts. It is hard not to like the AVS as they have so many fantastic players and yes when my Habs are not doing so well I flip to NHL Centre Ice to watch the AVS. Everyone thinks they are done because they lost Forsberg, no no no this is a good team. Ecklund and Berger both suck because they have 0 credibility. You have better odds of getting a trade right by flipping a coin on a rumour then listening to these clowns.
  3. I tend to agree with Leafs Suck. Naslund is a big wimp that can only talk trash off the ice. He has never done anything to back up his talk. Bert paid his penalty and it should be over now, as he is a good hockey player when he does not lose his cool. It was ugly what happened and I hope this will not be forgotton like the Lemiuex hit on Draper or the Hunter hit on Turgeon. We dont need this crap any longer. Lets play hockey and holler as loud as you can for your favorite Team! :can:
  4. Hey Koivu11 is right. If he was making $11million(I guessed) and took the 24% reduction that leaves better than $8 million a year. Whats up with that? Is he working part time at MSG flipping burgers and hotdogs to make up the extra cash he gets.
  5. Chipchura and Price, mainly Price because most emphasis will placed on Goalies once again and we are rock solid here. Our Glorius years with Patrick Roy bring back Lord stanley good thoughts! Specially if another team got to overtime and had to face him. You would have to be shooting golf balls to have a chance at scoring. Lots of NHL calibre goalies = interesting trades.
  6. tommy9:hlogo: tommy9:hlogo: tommy9:hlogo: That was a good video and in the old clutch and grab NHL I dont believe he really got a chance to shine. Now I am even more excited to see the season start.
  7. I think you guys are right that something is going on. It may be a minor change. With the new CBA I am waiting for the third team in trades, or if a team gets someone they want, then your trade goes through in a domino effect. I can only believe if something happens it will be to get another Center of Star calibre. Otherwise, lets play hockey with team we have and enjoy the "W" s they are going to put up. Our young guns as it stands are going to skate rings around the aging OLD giants in T-DOT! I like our young guys and cant wait.:hlogo:
  8. HAs to be Washington as the worst of the worst. Carolina might not do too well, but I could be way off here. Is L.A. going to do anything this year? Dont hear much from USA west because I am usually asleep when it is GAME ON on the coast with the hot ladies!
  9. 43 years old and I can still recall all those beautiful Montreal Canadien Stanley Cup victories like they were yesterday. Man I can remember the big bird rushing the puck down the ice and scoring in the playoffs. I can also remember when the Leafs brought Carl Brewer out of Retirement in 1979-80 season, man they started that retirement home stuff early there, he was what 50 years old? Wow, Bobby Orr and the Don Cherry ugly suits were hockey back then. There was a season I didnt think the Habs were going to lose a game they were so good. Now I'm starting to feel old! :ghg:
  10. I think we should see where we are, leave some cap room for injury replacements, interesting trade speculation and some good old gossip in our community. Gagne is good but where does he squeeze in when it is time to see if the young guys will shine. Remember Mr. Ryder and his youthfull influence on the team really helped us to the playoffs. I have not cheered for someone like Ryder since my favorite speedy winger Guy Lafluer. Also, there will be fire sales once cap room is exceeded by the usual spenders next year.
  11. Jose will have his best season ever and finish in the top 3 of every goaltending category. With the new open ice policy he is already a veteran of seeing 10,000 shots per night. Coupled with the new goaltender equipment shrinkage policy, oLd Goalies will be shocked to see that equipment cannot stop the puck anymore. It is going to take talent and Jose should shine!
  12. No way we want Mr. NO-KNEES. Man that would kill us if we dont find room for the young guys. Its time for him to retire. I like the Toronto joke as it is so close to the truth, the fans in T-Dot are still talking Leaf Cup in 2005. They should say 2055 the way they trade their young guys away once they start to play well.
  13. I have been reading posts on this site for the last couple of weeks (Just found you guys) and this thread was a bit loud. I find it easy to admire my fellow Canadians in all parts of the country and our habs fans throughout the world. Unfortunately there is only so much time in our lives to make new friends so why waste it with insults to ones heritage. My grandpappy always told me over and over not to judge a man unless you stood in his shoes. He fought in WWI as a foot soldier in the trenchs and again in WWII as a foot soldier (Sergent) and survived both wars. He made friends in many countries while over there. I have a lot of respect for our friends across the seas, and our good neighbors to the south. If you want to see real torture to ones intelligence, just live in Toronto region where every sports station think they are the official Leaf channel and talk Leafs, Leafs, Leafs. I dont mind the Leaf team but the attitudes of so many homers is too much. I am so glad I found this site!
  14. I would wait for him to become a free agent. In two years when he becomes a UFA Montreal might be able to pick him up and by then it should be known if he is really good. Theo is a good goalie, dont give up on Jose yet. I like our team and we should let them play to see what they can do. T-Dot and NYR keep changing their roster and where does it get them? Tee off time is at.........
  15. I am willing to wait and see what Streit will bring to the Habs. I trust the organization for finding talent and signing them. Was this guy not a draft pick of Montreal in 2004, I think I read this somewhere. Around the league(T-Dot, Alberta, BC) nobody is picking Montreal to do anything, this is good because our favorite hockey team can slip under the radar and suprise them. We are going to really need to rely on our D if wide open hockey does appear. Theo will be up to the task, but trying to stop 55 shots a night might be too much. We have to take a chance on D-men like Streit. (Jose will sign, can you imagine him in another uniform?)
  16. I would love to see the faces of my Leaf and Bruins friends if #33 put his jersey on. All I can say is the sheer terror look on their faces would be worth it. Patrick was a dominant goalie who could still play.:ghg:
  17. Hey Guys and Gals, new here and had to put my 2cents in this discussion. While Toronto is building for...Something, we are building for a championship. Yes it takes a little money but more it takes heart, ability and dedication to achieve the ultimate goal. Montreal has not looked stronger in terms of depth of young talent, and with a level playing field money should not be too much of a distraction. So companies like BofM wanting to back the leafs fine, I just hope they don't come crawling to our team when one day in the near future our team is hoisting Lord Stanleys Cup for the 25th time! That is the difference between teams that talk and teams that deliver.
