  1. Hughes just confirmed he's staying up for the time being. Maybe closer to the end of the season, they'll send him down like they did with Harvey-Pinard last year.
  2. They did but that was before the season. The summary was covering the trade deadline period. An additional condition on the draft pick upgrade - it's 40 regular season games next year and Allen's team at the end of next season (NJ or otherwise) has to make the playoffs.
  3. The problem is if they stay in Laval, the Habs are 12 healthy forwards and 6 healthy D. I can't see them doing that.
  4. Struble and Roy were both papered down to keep them Laval-eligible. Assuming they'll both be recalled swiftly, that's 2 of 4 post-deadline regular recalls gone right there.
  5. Sounds like the Allen deal is it for the Habs for the day.
  6. Hertl is out long-term as well, probably not back until the playoffs. That's probably how they're making it work this year.
  7. Hertl to Vegas. Didn't see that one coming.
  8. Strauss Mann has been sent down. That means either Kaskisuo is back or there's a goalie coming Montreal's way (perhaps as a throw-in in the Allen trade since NJ has a lot of goalies)?
  9. Worth noting, it's 40 games next year, not this season and next. (Prior reporting said otherwise but it was recently revised.)

  11. Allen to NJ could be happening:

  13. I thought the game was quite even for two periods before Carolina woke up in the third and really put the hammer down. Agree on the first line though, they've been out of sorts for a few games now. It was bound to happen after the hot stretch they had.
  14. That's not always the case; not every team goes to the point of scratching players for trade-related reasons. It just means nothing is imminent or done. (That said, I'm not expecting much from Montreal tomorrow.) Also, if anyone is wondering, Allen is the healthy scratch in the goalie rotation tonight. Carolina, meanwhile, is scratching Michael Bunting who appears to be going to Pittsburgh in a Jake Guentzel trade.
  15. They get the guy at the more premium position and might have been looking at his usage in Laval (strict 4C) and figuring that a bigger role could get him going.
  16. Yes, as was noted in the article. Obviously, it would be different now. I was still hoping as of a few weeks ago to get the full write-ups done like normal but realized it wasn't going to happen. So rather than sit on them any longer, I figured I'd get them up before the deadline. I'm going to have to figure out a different way to do these moving forward. I had hopes that Kidney would be able to contribute fairly quickly this season which factored into that rating. I've been higher on Struble than other sites in the past but since he was coming off a tough senior year, I didn't see cause to move him up but didn't want to drop him either which is how he wound up staying where he was.
  17. I don't think it's posturing. If the options are sell Allen for a minimal return now or wait until June when more teams will have an opening, he's going to be quite comfortable running with the existing setup for six more weeks and bank on doing better trade-wise three months from now.
  18. Considering they don't really need to move anyone off their roster, it wouldn't shock me if they do another third-party retention to add another pick. (They have one left.) I suspect they'll be making a buyer move which means they'll lose a pick or two so at least they can try to restock this way. Sounds like there's a third-party retainer in the Hanifin trade as well.
  19. I think Hughes in title although I'm pretty sure Sedgwick had a pretty good hand in things down there. This felt more like formalizing a lot of what was already in place unofficially. Looks better on paper if/when he looks to go after a GM job of his own as that's what's probably next.
  20. What a horrific late-game power play that was. But then they score right after, go figure. Nice shot from Suzuki for the winner. In general, nice push-back from the Habs against what was the hottest team in the league.
  21. I can't say for certain but I don't think he was the only AGM during his time with the Habs. That change felt more like a promotion in title more than actual extra duties as he was still exclusively focused on the amateur side. If he wants to be a GM, his best bet would be to actually go be an AGM somewhere.
  22. That's one way to up his trade value...well, not really. That's one you don't see every day. Really rough first half of the period but they were taking it to the Preds in the second half.
  23. A decent start (and PK) before Nashville scored. Still not a bad period overall. And much easier on the ears with Gord Miller getting a rare Montreal game so there's that too.
  24. White (UBI) to IR. That opened the spot for Harvey-Pinard to be activated.
  25. With Primeau getting the TB game, I expect it will be Montembeault against Carolina.
