  1. Didn't see this coming, 1 year, $575k. Same deal for Brendon Nash as well though his is two-way.
  2. Bob McKenzie is reporting that there are rumblings that the Habs and Price seem to be working towards a 6 or 7 year deal with an AAV in the $6M to $6.5M range.
  3. Frankly, I think he'll retire.
  4. 2 years, $4 million total for Hal Gill in Nashville. He got his multi-year deal, I'm happy for him.
  5. TSN 990's Mitch Melnick is saying the Habs have their guy and will name him shortly, it won't be Robinson.
  6. Let me add to that first sentence...The salary cap will be going up by almost 6 million for next season...until the new CBA is signed...and then it will be going down. The small market teams aren't signing off on any CBA that forces them to spend over $50 million on payroll annually.
  7. If it's a multi-year deal, it gets the 35+ treatment. One year pacts are treated as normal.
  8. Crosby to sign a $100+ million extension believed to be 11-12 years in length.
  9. Dennis Wideman to Calgary, 5 years, $26.25 million. That's a hefty price. Oh well, time to add a different blueliner to the list for the HW UFA pool (the ballot should be up tomorrow).
  10. LeBrun's update on Schultz's situation: http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/17965/the-chase-for-free-agent-schultz-heats-up
  11. Report: Andreas Engqvist signs with Atlant Mytishchi of the KHL.
  12. Prust is going to be expensive. Reports are that he has rejected 3 years, $5.4 million already. That alone is too much for largely a 4th liner.
  13. Ralph Krueger will be named Edmonton's head coach tomorrow. This should be an interesting case to follow; aside from being an associate coach with the Oilers last year, all of his coaching experience has come from overseas (mostly with Switzerland and Austria). Hiring an 'international coach' is a rarity in the NHL right now, this should be an interesting case to follow.
  14. There seems to be some rumblings that a deal with him will get done.
  15. A lot smaller of a roster this time around, 14 players in total. F - Bozon, Collberg, Galchenyuk, Girard*, Hudon, Lane*, Nystrom, Pribyl, Vail D - Bennett, Oligny*, Thrower G - Lagace, Marcoux Invites are C Felix Girard, C Matt Lane, D Jimmy Oligny, G Jacob Lagace, and G Etienne Marcoux. Aside from Lane who was with the US NTDP, the other tryouts are all from the QMJHL.
  16. If anyone has any Toronto starting pitchers in their pools, get rid of them now; they're cursed. Over the past two weeks, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th starters have all gone down with injuries. I've never seen this before.
  17. He might but it will take some games in Hamilton before that determination is made. Players typically don't go from being a #4 D in the minors, missing the entire following season, to the NHL.
  18. There are a handful of interesting names coming in as not qualified by their teams - Kevin Porter (COL), Peter Mueller (COL), Marc-Andre Gragnani (VAN), Benoit Pouliot (TB - odd since they just traded a draft pick for him)...I'm sure there will be more to follow in the next few hours.
  19. I wouldn't put Nash in the mix. He didn't play at all last season and by the end of his rookie campaign had hit the proverbial wall. He's still an interesting prospect but he'll certainly need time in Hamilton. St. Denis should be in the mix depending on what happens with the 7 that are signed/RFA.
  20. Those who got offers: D- Subban, Diaz, Emelin, Nash, St. Denis F- Eller, White, Palushaj, Geoffrion, Engqvist (Price was already qualified.) So it appears Blunden, Bishop, Conboy, Fortier, Masse, Mitera, Slaney, and Nokelainen were all let go.
  21. I got a note saying 'Marcoux was invited to camp.' I presume that means goalie Etienne Marcoux from the QMJHL's Armada.
  22. Both Collberg and Nystrom have been invited to Team Sweden's summer camp for players eligible for the WJC's.
  23. If he's pouty about getting demoted, who's going to want him on their team? It took Edmonton a while to find a taker for Souray years ago and he wasn't even pouting (he was upset with the team and Tambellini decided to keep him away because of his attitude towards the organization).
  24. The general consensus is that he is NHL ready. He'll be meeting with his agents on Tuesday and will field offers Wednesday, Bergevin has noted he will be keeping an eye on that situation (read between the lines, he'll make an offer). He won't come cheap though, I expect he'll get a max ELC (cap hit around $3.7M); if the Habs plan to play Galchenyuk this year, they may not want two max (or near max) ELC players. Who knows, there may not be a bonus cushion in the new CBA.
