I seriously doubt he comes here- What good is he for us, we already have Begin and Downey for just that purpose- bring in a scorer or d-man but a past his prime grinder....no need! The only thing I see him offering to us is leadership(only because I understand that he is respected around the league for what he brings to the ice)

Har-dee har har....obviously Ivan isn't brought up for his stellar offensive or defensive skills-he may bring a bit more "fear factor" than Downey ( who I have yet to see do much of anything except a few good hits)

I disagree- he was challenged in my opinion and he skated away. I may be mistaken but it sure looked like he was going to go and then he skated away!!!!!

Last night was one of the first games wher I saw some decent hits from the Habs. I don't know why it is, but it seems whenever I watch other games on the tube, the other teams seem to hit everything whereas the Habs seem to never hit. Also ,when is Downey going to drop his gloves! He had a chance last night with Gaustad but it never came to be. Are we ever going to have a certified heavyweight this year? We bring up Ivan for 4 games and play him in 2 and then send him down!WTF Now for the positive- Excellent win!

I heard on 990 that Edm was looking to get rid of Laraque....he would look great in a Habs uniform!!

All I gotta say is there had better be some scrap action tonight! Ivanans had better be in the lineup to deal with some of those so called "big,bad bruins" Habs- 5 Bruins- 2 Huet will stand on his head

First of all, Gainey knows more about hockey than all of us put together(unless someone here is a past NHL GM or a past player with something like 500pts). He will right the ship. Everyone here seems to jump the gun and say trade him/put him in the minors......sell the team(you know what I mean). Lets let a man with so much experience do what's right. Give this team a chance to do what's needed in terms of "fixin the problems". Gainey isn't some newbie to this-he did a great job in Dallas. Patience is what this team needs. The problem with all Montreal fans is either win now or get out. People look back to the "dynasty era" when there weren't as many teams in the league and expect to win in the same fashion....well those days are over. Let's field a competitve team and for this year anyways, lets hope we make the playoffs. :hlogo:

Dave, I'm a huge fan of the rough stuff. Do you have any juice on either Ivanans or Aaron Downey? If I was to ever meet them I want to be ready to either 1) talk to them or 2) run away as fast as I can. If you dare, do you have any news on trades involving Vancouver and Montreal?? Bertuzzi for Theo straight up....sounds ok to me!

Sit Theo and put Ivanans in nets- he would probably take up 90% of the net. Even though the Bruins aren't as tough as they were, I still say we need to get tougher! More fights= more excitement

Marky, while you may be right about the 4th line playing well, this team needs fresh blood inserted to make any sort of difference. If you think they are going to showcase Bonk, well, I think you are dead wrong. Who in their right mind would take him. We can't go trading guys away when their value is almost nil. We need to either call up a youngster or put out the animals and let them sort it out!

OK now, times like these call for changes. Insert BIGMAN in the freakin lineup. I feel so strongly about this that I will guarantee the win.That's right....I said it...GUARANTEED WIN. Ivan brings a different tempo to the game. If a guy like Downey can fess up and say it, it must be true. Need 2 points....put him in. Now I can only hope Gainey reads this!

I somewhat agree- if you can get him at 1/2 salary then why not pick him up. Of course that would mean that the Habs would expect to NOT make the post season. I seriously think that Theo would respond like Patty Roy if we did that though and that's not the terms we want advertised around the league

Boulerice was indeed traded as part of the Weight deal, but to me that's all the more reason to have Downey and Ivan there- think of the pounding the 'canes would take as we send out our 4th line- Staal would probably jump back on his bench.

Seeing how there seem to be different lineups on this posting, can anyone confirm that Ivanans is NOT playing tonight. If so, :puke:

Fearless prediction-If BIGMAN plays we will win. I heard an interview on TEAM990 yesterday and Downey was saying with Ivanans in the lineup even he feels more confident(and Downey is supposedly a "tough guy".He went on to say if he felt "bigger" just imagine how Ribs would feel! Put Ivan out there and tell him to hit everything that moves

Anyone else think that Ivanans played well. He only had 4 mins. of ice and he had 1 blocked shot and 1 hit. I thought he was solid for his 4 mins(either he was solid or he is my new favorite habs)

Can anyone try to explain why BIGMAN gets called up and then sits for two straight games? Why would he not be inserted for Ottawa to atone for his loss to Chara? Is this some sort of money issue? Is it cheaper to call him up over someone else? We played two big teams in Philly and Ottawa and instead of putting out our biggest guy, we continue with the same lineup that played(and won) on Wed. Why not rest a guy that played the night before and get a fresh pair of legs in there. Can anyone explain!! :?-

I would scratch either Zednik(my 1st choice) or Ribs ,although it seems he's playing a bit better. They had better scratch someone and insert BIGMAN. He must be given the chance to redeem himself with Chara first and then throw down with McGratton for fun!

Yes but I don't see him getting points. Howe was a complete player not just a goon( a la Ivanans). I was just saying it would be great to see some life from our team, if blood needs to be shed then so be it. As much as I like Turner Stevenson, I feel he may be a victim tonight!

By putting Ribs with the big boys, they may be thinking that he will have a bit more skating room. I've noticed that Ribs is so easy to get the puck off by just giving him a love tap that perhaps if BIGMAN is out there he will go un-touched. Don't get me wrong, he sure as hell ain't no Gretzky but either he has to beef up by about 40lbs or he will forever by _hit!

BIGMAN is going to kick ass tonight...then tommorow night and then again Sat. My picks are obvious- Brashear(give the nod to BIGMAN but a good fight),McGratton(twice) both sound wins by Ivan, Belak on Sat. and I predict a knockout!
