  1. Any news on the return of the BigMan? I see that Rats Sundin is starting to practise with the Laffs but I guess he is ok to play with a visor where as Ivanans would not serve his purpose with one!
  2. PB , you hit the nail on the head- if Ivanans is ok to come back and be our enforcer then I say keep him and if need be, bring up a minor league guy.Perhaps bring back Vandy, or even bring up Carpentier(if he's still around) or even Jimmy Bonneau. We do need someone to step up tonight and play a physical game(Komi,Souray,Rivet) but let's be honest, no person on the Habs can tanglewith Brashear!:/)
  3. How about getting rid of that stupid"make me clap" that keeps getting repeated throughout the game. It's giving me the "clap"
  4. Again,perhaps....I can see this as being a problem should we play a team that has solid goons.
  5. Perhaps they would all be in the box at the same time, my question is who in their right mind would go out for their shift if those guys were all out there! I am still looking for an update on Ivanans...I know he's out for a while but when will he return? Are we not going to bring up any muscle? I was at the Toronto game and if Toronto wanted to, they could have easily out-muscled us!
  6. Sign all three of them(Oliwa,Langdon and Laraques) Bring back old time hockey!!
  7. Anyone have info on this? I'm going to the game so I can scout him!:ghg:
  8. The real damage was done with the first 3 punches- the first was flush to his lower eye!
  9. No way he won that fight-he ate 3 good punches and another when the refs came in(don't know if it landed though). I do give him credit for going with Chara and I hope to the Gods they give him another chance. From what I hear he did well against McGrattan in pre-season so he deserves more time. He will bring fear to others, perhaps just not Chara!
  10. I heard Pierre McGuire bashing him for losing his first fight. He was complaining that Ivanans isn't the "fierce enforcer" that we need. There was talk about Worrel but they were saying that he is in a battle with personal demons. If the Habs are NOT going to give Big Man another shot, who do we go after? Do we bring Vandy back up or shop around? My personal feelings are to give Ivanans more time. Losing fights will happen,Chara is no small fry!
  11. There's no mention on BIG MAN(IVANANS) playing tonight. Any one know if McGratton is playing tonight? 3 shifts isn't enough to keep a player even warm, so if he is playing,he'd better see some ice time!
  12. It's not the same guy I thought he was. It is Rollie's kid though. Thanks anyways
  13. Anyone know if this Melanson is the same guy from the NAHL? If it's him, he's a crazy dude. Loves to scrap and is seriously CRAZY! I've seen him lose it a few times when he was with the Laval Chiefs
  14. Are you kidding when you said Kasparitis? 1st- he would never go with Ivanans. 2nd- Ivanans SHOULD be able to handle him like he was a 12yr old girl. I seriously like the idea of trying him on the power play though. At the very least, try it in practice. I just want some rough stuff to see how the team handles it, and to see if they play "bigger" with BIG MAN in the line-up
  15. I say move up a 4th liner and bring in Ivanans-I'm busting at the seams waiting to see some more of his play. I know Purinton is out, but I would still love to see him tried on the power play and just park him in front of the net! Thoughts?
  16. I feel that Ivanans brings a hell of alot more "fear factor" to a game. Vandy can chuck knuckles,no doubt...but Ivanans throws big bombs and you will see that by the 10th game he will be a force to be reckoned with. The Habs need that size and from what I heard(on this site) was that he won fastest skater last year when he was with Hamilton!
  17. You may be right but I saw Vandy go with Mitch Fritz(another giant) and he looked pretty bad-remember McCabe VS. Chara...rag doll. I give Vandy credit for dropping the gloves against him but if he does that in the season, there is no spark(if that's what we need at the time) and if it's teaching a lesson.....well then I'd say Vandy was the one who was taught a lesson!

    beckham

Hey Beckham, is it not possible that even if Theo was in nets that we lose those precious 10 points? The goalie is definitely the backstop but there are others on the ice that count too.
  19. thats what I wanted- now I need Gainey to read this so "BIG MAN"(that's what I yell when he's on the ice) canplay for the Habs
  20. I'm putting this on the Bulldogs portion to see if we can agree on whether he can play/fight or is he destined to be a career AHL'er. Anyone with info ,please help. I only heard his 1 fight on the radio-1 missed punch and down to the ice. Help!!!!!:hlogo:
  21. Kaos, I'm glad to get some first hand info on Ivanans but I've heard the opposite. I've even seen it on other sites that few players wanted a piece of him. Even the new guy in Ottaw(McGratton I think) said he is the strongest guy he's fought. There must be some truth to the fact that he's pretty tough. I've seen Brashear go lots of times when he played for Quebec(LHNA) and saw him lose a few. Every scrapper loses a few- I just want a guy that doesn't lose most fights(a la Gordie Dwyer).
  22. Good question- the reason I say that is you need a guy that actually wins fights- not just some cement head. He has to bring fear to the opposition. I'm looking forward to the responses.... obviously I'm a fan of the scraps.
  23. I would even throw Sandy McCarthy's name around but that's strictly an enforcer- don't think he will be able to keep up in the new NHL. Worrell is a great fit. Big, mean and like it was said before-NHL experience. I wonder what kind of cash he would want. He is from Montreal so maybe he would come cheap. I figure Mr Gainey knows his stuff(he did play on a line with Nilan so I think he understands the need) so I'm not worried. If we DON"T have a "goon" then I'll worry. When I was at the game against Toronto, Ivanans looked like he was standing at the bench when he was sitting- he is a presence on the ice.:ghg:
  24. Isn't Worrell still un-signed??? He would be an asset if you ask me. I just think that if you are going to play NHL hockey, you need to have a guy that can come to a players defense. You don't want Souray doing that and let's be honest, Rivet can't handle the serious goons out there now. If Vandermeer and Ivanans are both going to the minors, then who is going to fill the spot. I know there are people who feel that an enforcer takes a potential scorer out but it's still a neccesary role. The players are still going to hit and stuff. If things get rough, someone is going to have to step up! Koivu isn't that guy....Zednik...Bulis...take a look at other rosters, every team has that potential killer. I'm not saying to play the guy every game, but picture Ivanans (6'4" 263lbs) on the power play...sitting in front of the net....who's going to move him?? SIZE MATTERS...IN HOCKEY!
  25. We need to keep an enforcer around-just look at the wonders it has done in Ottawa this year. Players play a little bigger when you have back up. I say either guy is ok- I prefer Ivanans though. He's a monster!
