  1. Gallagher has been the catalyst for all three of these goals.
  2. We never would have hired Therien to fire him if not for the language requirement.
  3. She doesn't have the vocal range to do Star Spangled Banner. Cute thing, though.
  4. Look, I'm sure if you resurrected a young Albert Einstein, taught him to skate, and put him out on the ice as a defenseman, he'd look look like a farking idiot. (Although if you put him on the ice in the 60s or 70s, his hair would fit in.) People that say those things are making statements about Hockey IQ, not general intelligence. It's entirely possible for a brilliant player to be an idiot off the ice, and for a guy with an IQ of 60 to be a savant with a hockey stick. I never saw anything to indicate Eller was an idiot off the ice. On the ice is another story.
  5. I don't mean when Therien was fired, I mean in general. When the Habs are looking for a coach, we're limited to about 10% of the pool of available coaches, because most coaches don't speak French. It drives me nuts that the Leafs may have the best coach in the NHL and Montreal would never have even tried to hire him, even if they were in the market for a coach when he was available.
  6. I'm eagerly anticipating Alexei Emelin becoming a Golden Knight.
  7. Sadly, if this wasn't a factor, we could hire a great coach that didn't speak French.
  8. I spent two years being mocked here because I didn't like beaulieu and didn't think he had any upside: no defensive capabilities and a nebulous offensive potential that never showed up on the scoreboard. I frequently want to say "I told you so" to the whole bunch of you, but ironically, he has grown on me a bit. Not enough, though. I'd trade him for a real second line center without a moment's hesitation, then laugh at how we fleeced the other GM. (Sadly, I would then put our new second line center on our top line.)
  9. I loved Damphousse, but he wasn't the heart and soul of the '93 Habs. That was Kirk Muller. (To those who interject that #33 was the heart, I strongly disagree. If comparing players to body parts, Roy was more of a particularly strong and fragrant sphincter muscle. You couldn't get shit past it, but what an asshole.)
  10. I think Max hit his "funny bone" into the boards.
  11. To be fair, Leaf fans often feel the same way about him. He always favors Boston.
  12. Yeah, but if you get rid of the injuries (and cancer) for both of them, koivu probably has double what he ended up with.
  13. Emelin needs his brain back. Seriously, if Emelin had gotten injured in the first 2 minutes of last night's game, Montreal would have won.
  14. In the 6 full seasons that Max Pacioretty has been in the NHL (including the lockout-shortened 2013 - 48 game season), Max Pacioretty is 4th in the NHL with 185 goals in 426 games. The three guys ahead of him are Joe Pavelski (187 goals in 443 games - Max has more goals per game), Steven Stamkos (202 goals -- but this guy's only played 343 games, which makes it rather remarkable), and Alexander Ovechkin (a whopping 251 goals in 431 games). There are a few other players with higher goals per game that would be up there if they hadn't been injured so much, too; Sid's 157 goals in 356 games, for instance. Anyone who doesn't count Max Pacioretty among the league's most elite goal scorers just hasn't been paying attention.
  15. For a guy who doesn't score, Benn has an impressive shot.
  16. His defensive zone coverage last night was great. But I admit it's not something he's typically done well.
