  9. The crazy-long road trip (spanning the rest of this month) begins tonight as the Bulldogs (28-23-9-0) travel to Adirondack for a huge matchup against the Flames (29-22-4-1). 7th place Hamilton sits two points up on 9th place Adirondack in the standings but the Flames have four games in hand meaning that the Bulldogs desperately need to win this in regulation. 11. These guys again? For the fourth time in barely three weeks, it's a battle of the top two teams in the North Division as the Bulldogs (28-22-9-0) host the Comets (33-18-5-1). 12. Tonight, the Bulldogs (28-21-9-0) will look to avoid 3-on-3 overtime and actually try to win a game in regulation as they host what's left of the Rochester Americans (24-29-5-1). 16. This is a crucial back-to-back set for the Bulldogs (26-21-7-0) as they need to get four points against one of the AHL's bottom feeders in Charlotte (20-28-5-1). 18. In 1805, a great fire consumed the city of Detroit, burning it to ashes. The city rebuilt but it took decades. A new fire burns 210 years later in 2015. It comes from Montreal and plans to swallow the city hole. Or I'm being overdramatic because I'll be at this game and very, very drunk. Each and every year someone predicts that yes, this will be the year that Detroit doesn't make the playoffs. Sometimes it feels like a worthy prediction. Every year we still see the Red Wings right in the playoffs. They haven't made noise since they last Won the Cup and lost in the finals to Pittsburgh but it doesn't change the remarkable depth on the team. Today, the Red Wings sit with 72 points in 52 games compared to the Habs division leading 76 points in 55 games. A win could put the Habs into a deeper lead for the division and push the Red Wings to be the challenge for anyone who misses out on the division win. A loss could mean the Red Wings inch closer to the division title. Montreal Canadiens Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Brendan Gallagher Alex Galchenyuk - Tomas Plekanec - Lars Eller Michael Bournival - Jacob De La Soul - Christian Thomas Brandon Prust - Manny Malhotra - Dale Weise Andrei Markov - P.K. Subban Nathan Beaulieu - Tom Gilbert Alexei Emelin - Mike Weaver Carey Price Dustin Tokarski DEEEEEETROIT BAAAAAASKETBALLLLLL Gustav Nyquist - Henrik Zetterberg - Justin Abdelkader Tomas Tatar - Pavel Datsyuk - Darren Helm Luke Glendening - Riley Sheahan - Stephen Weiss Drew Miller - Joakim Anderson - Tomas Jurco Niklas Kronwall - Jonathan Ericsson Kyle Quincey - Danny DeKeyser Brendan Smith - Alexey Marchenko Jimmy Howard Petr Mrazek Habs hold the series lead 2-0. Red Wings have one of the most dangerous power plays in the league. Sportsnet and RDS should show the game in Canada, Fox Sports Detroit for America.
  19. Two seasons ago, the Montreal Canadiens were eliminated by the Ottawa Senators. The team fell into the trap of playing physical instead of focusing on their speed and Carey Price went down to injury. French Canadian small fry Pageau scored a lot of goals like he seems to always do against the Habs and Lars Eller went down in injury. Following the playoffs, advanced statistics researchers looked at the Senators puck possession and shooting and said they were a better team than anyone thought originally and should be a contender for years to come. Instead, the Ottawa Senators are hot garbage, firing their coach and seeing their starter Anderson hurt again. In net tonight will be Andrew Hammond, who looked like hot garbage replacing Lehner in a loss to the Hurricanes. The Senators still carry the puck fine and shoot a lot but the problem, of course, with advanced statistics is that they are not so much a predictor of success but a mark of good habits. The Sens show good habits with the puck. That doesn't mean good habits immediately translate into wins. The Sens celebrated keeping Mark Methot, who has the difficult job of making Erik Karlsson not look like hot garbage in his own zone. Imagine if the Markov-Komisarek pairing was Markov being a terrible D man and Komisarek having to pick up for his slack when Markov wasn't scoring. That's the top line in Ottawa. For Montreal we get the long awaited return of Jiri "cakeS" Sekac as we comes into the lineup and Malhotra takes a well needed rest. Greg Pateryn also enters the Habs lineup to replace Mike Weaver. Will be interesting to see what the oldest defensive prospect does in this game against less a rival and more a constant irritant. Tokarski gives Price a much needed rest. Hopefully he allows less than three goals. 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs this ain't. Puck drops at 7PM EST on Sportsnet and RDS. Lines not official (aside from Pateryn saying he believed he was playing with Beaulieu) Montreal Canadiens Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Christian Thomas/Dale Weise Alex Galchenyuk - Tomas Plekanec - Brendan Gallagher Brandon Prust - Lars Eller - cakeS Michael Bournival - Jacob De La Soul - Dale Weise/Christian Thomas Andrei Markov - P.K. 22. The Montreal Canadiens are home to spread the love and joy of playing the Toronto Maple Leafs and seeing up close their perpetual state of embarrassment and disappointment. Despite the Habs suffering some recent losses against failing teams, I have nothing but confidence in the Canadiens tonight. It's particularly special because it's on Valentine's Day and there's nothing better than seeing the Habs break the hearts of the Leafs. Nothing but confidence in our boys tonight. Time to break some hearts! Game will be shown on CBC and TVA.
