  1. Rather than have the discussion of the picks get lumped in with the general pre-draft discussion, let's get a separate thread going to discuss Montreal's actual selections (of which there should be a lot more than usual). Here's where the Habs pick: 3rd Overall 35th Overall 38th Overall 56th Overall 62nd Overall 66th Overall 97th Overall 102nd Overall 122nd Overall 128th Overall Who do you think the Habs will take 3rd overall? Make your prediction by entering our annual Draft Pool which is open for a few more hours.
  2. It's the final two games of the regular season as a good team (Toronto) takes on a terrible team (Laval). The Rocket will have a few players back in Michael McCarron, Brett Lernout, and Kerby Rychel so they might actually be able to once again ice a whole line full of AHL-quality talent. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM on Friday (on TSN 2 and RDS) and at 4 PM on Saturday (radio only).
  3. It's the final game of this forgetful season. Projected lineup: Leafs don't appear to be resting anyone before the playoffs.
  4. Hopefully Niemi isn't planning on putting on a final awesome performance for the season. Darn Wings playing a Jared Coreau who has a.879% in few NHL games he has played...no good, unless you are Galchneyuk looking for 20th goal. Canadiens Lines & Pairings 41-Paul Byron 92-Jonathan Drouin 11-Brendan Gallagher 27-Alex Galchenyuk 25-Jacob de la Rose 62-Artturi Lehkonen 54-Charles Hudon 49-Logan Shaw 45-Kerby Rychel 43-Daniel Carr 34-Mike McCarron 42-Byron Froese – 21-David Schlemko 26-Jeff Petry 22-Karl Alzner 58-Noah Juulsen 28-Mike Reilly 36-Brett Lernout – 37-Antti Niemi
  5. Damn Jets resting 6 reg players, no good.
  6. *This will be game #556 for #31, which will tie Plante for most played as a Hab goalie! 41-28-9 vs 28-38-12 Come on Byron & Galchenyuk, 20g mark would be another positive, on a team that has scored less than all but Sabres. Habs sitting 28th, but I got a feeling they will play well and beat New Jersey.
  7. It's a battle of the bottom feeders tonight in Hershey as the Bears (28-33-9, last in the Atlantic) host the Rocket (24-37-9)...or at least a collection of people masquerading as Laval players. (Based on last night's lines) Terry - Cracknell - Korostelev Boucher - Petti - Eisenschmid Veilleux - Ebbing - Gregoire Addison - Beauregard - Waked Plant - Taormina Owens - Gelinas Bourque - Parisi Lindgren (Lines based on +/- data and some guesses.) Bourque - Boyd - Bau Whitney - Sill - Langlois O'Brien - Gustafsson - Simpson McGauley - Peluso Bowey - Siegenthaler Johansen - Williams Ness - Hobbs Lewington Vanecek Puck drop is at 7:00 PM EST. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  8. Byron - Drouin - Gallagher Galchenyuk - de la Rose - Lehkonen Scherbak - Shaw - Hudon Deslauriers - McCarron - Carr Schlemko - Petry Alzner - Juulsen Benn - Lernout Niemi Guentzel - Crosby - Rust Hagelin - Malkin - Kessel Sheary - Sheahan - Hornqvist Kuhnhackl - Jooris - Aston-Reese Oleksiak - Letang Dumoulin - Schultz Maatta - Ruhwedel Murray Because Lernout is still in with Schlemko up, that means he has been converted to a regular recall. Valiev, McCarron, and Rychel (who will likely play tomorrow) are the others which means the Habs have burned their four post-deadline call-ups. (Players can still be recalled in emergency situations though.)
  9. Tonight's winner over Laval will be Binghamton as the Rocket have been even more depleted with the recall of Kerby Rychel. That means Nikita Korostelev, a tryout, will be on the front line. Meanwhile, Matt Petgrave (another tryout) has been suspended which opens up a spot for the tryout that signed a couple of days ago (Adam Plant) or the tryout that signed today (some other college d-man) to play with another tryout (Bailey Webster). McNiven gets the start - puck drop is at 7:05.
  10. 1-1 mid-game. Chris Terry gets his 28th and now tied for AHL lead with 65 points. Lindgren stopped 12-13 so far.
  11. Not expecting a win today, but hope the young guys can play well and bury a puck or two. Just six more shows after this one: Wings & Penguins this month and Devils, Jets, Wings and to cap off season, Sat. April 7 vs Leafs.
  12. Worst road team in NHL vs 31st ranked powerhouse. 1st round bust Great Nate is healthy scratch...so Alzner will have the worst shot of all in this game. Can the lowest scoring team put enough rubber past Price to win, seems unlikely and guess it will be a 1-0 shootout win for Habs.
  13. After yet another losing week, the Rocket (24-33-8) return home to take on Charlotte (37-26-3) for a pair of games. There will be plenty of new faces in the lineup for Laval as Jeremiah Addison is expected to make his season debut (not his AHL debut; he played four games for St. John's two years ago) while newcomers Nikita Korostelev and Anthony Beauregard are expected to play as well. (Lines based on +/- data from last game and some guesses as a couple of players have been recalled since then) Wallmark - Saarela - Gauthier Brown - Kruger - McKegg Kuokkanen - Roy - Bishop Foegele - Poturalski - Schilkey Kichton - Robertson Samuelsson - Ganly Carrick - Didier Nedeljkovic Rychel - Cracknell - Terry Boucher - Petti - Eisenschmid Veilleux - Ebbing - Gregoire Addison - Beauregard - Korostelev Parisi - Taormina Bourque - Gelinas Hamilton - Petgrave Lindgren Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST on Friday and 3:00 PM on Saturday. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French for both games. Saturday's contest can also be seen on RDS.
  14. Pens 41w, Habs 26w 11th ranked team vs 27th, hopefully plays out as it should and a nice 3-2 regulation loss, Price plays great and #11 gets both goals. Go Gallagher Go Pre-Game trivia by Reusch http://intentionaloffside.com/?p=46351
  15. It's the matchup that CBC was surely hoping for when this game was originally scheduled - Curtis McElhinney vs Charlie Lindgren. No Carey Price. No Frederik Andersen. No Auston Matthews. No Max Pacioretty or Shea Weber. No Leo Komarov or Nikita Zaitsev. What a captivating matchup this will be...and if you don't think so, the word matchup will be drilled into our heads all night from Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson as without so many star players, you can be assured that matchups will be the forced narrative as Claude Julien and Mike Babcock try to outmatch the line matching. Puck drop is around 7:15 and if it's the usual anthem singer in Toronto for this one, you'll want to keep it on mute until then.
  16. After doing the unthinkable last night by actually winning, Laval (24-32-8) will look to make it two in a row as they travel to Syracuse to take on the Crunch (38-19-4), one of two teams to already clinch a playoff spot. Michael McNiven is in net for Laval and considering they aren't carrying any healthy scratches at the moment, that should be the only lineup change from last night. Puck drop is at 7:00 PM. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  17. A quick GDT for this one as the game is going to start shortly and I don't feel like looking up Utica's lines. Tonight, Laval (23-32-8) travels to Utica to lose to take on the Comets (30-21-10). At this point, with all the newcomers, Laval may as well start putting these at the front of their jerseys:
  18. Fresh off blowing a three-goal lead on Saturday, Laval (23-30-6) is back at it for a pair of games in Toronto as they take on the Marlies (41-16-2). Rychel - Cracknell - Terry Boucher - McCarron - Waked Petti - Eisenschmid - Gregoire Broll - Ebbing - Blain Parisi - Taormina Bourque - Leblanc Gelinas - Corrin Fucale (Lines based on +/- data from last game and some guesses) Johnsson - Smith - Mueller Moore - Gauthier - Baun Timashov - Greening - Clune Marchment - Brooks - Bracco Rosen - Liljegren Holl - Marincin Borgman - LoVerde Pickard Puck drop is at 3:00 PM EST on Monday and 7:00 PM on Wednesday. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French. Monday's game can be seen on RDS and TSN2 (though if you want to watch in English, be advised it is the Toronto feed with an announcer that can be hard on the ears).
  19. Habs vs Bolts

  20. The week wraps up for the Rocket (22-29-8) host the Senators (22-35-4) for a pair of games. While they'll be without Brett Lernout, they'll at least get Matt Taormina back which should help the power play if nothing else. (Lines based on +/- data and some guesses.) Blunden - Chlapik - Gagne Ciampini - Reinhart - Rodewald Paul - Moutrey - Sexton Selleck - Werek - Randell Erkamps - Englund Pokka - Sieloff Murray - Lajoie Hogberg Rychel - Cracknell - Terry Boucher - McCarron - Waked Petti - Eisenschmid - Gregoire Broll - Ebbing - Blain Parisi - Taormina Bourque - Leblanc Gelinas - Corrin Wilson Fucale Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST on Friday and 7:00 PM on Saturday. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  21. Laval's stint of three games in less than 48 hours (long live the AHLs scheduling) comes to an end this afternoon as the Rocket (22-27-9) travel to Rochester to take on the Americans (28-15-15...that second 15 is shockingly not a typo). After releasing Jackson Leef following yesterday's game, Laval will only have 18 healthy skaters, 11 forwards and seven d-men. Rychel - Cracknell - Terry Boucher - McCarron - Waked Petti - Eisenschmid - Gregoire Ebbing - Blain Gelinas - Lernout Bourque - Leblanc Gelinas - Corrin Wilson McNiven (Lines based on previous game +/- listing plus some guesses.) Porter - Gill - O'Regan Malone - Nylander - Fasching Blackwell - Criscuolo - Bailey Smith - Danforth - Krause Percy - Redmond Guhle - Tennyson Fedun - MacWilliam Wilcox Puck drop is at 3:00 PM EST. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  22. Another road trip begins as the decimated Rocket (21-27-8) travel to Syracuse to take on the Crunch (35-18-5). Rychel - Cracknell - Terry Boucher - McCarron - Eisenschmid Gregoire - Petti - Waked Blain - Ebbing - Leef Parisi - Lernout Bourque - Leblanc Gelinas - Corrin/Wilson Fucale (Lines based on previous game +/- listing.) Bournival - Lynch - Condra Stephens - Dumont - Joseph Verhaeghe - Peca - Walcott Yan - Tammela - Volkov McNeill - McBain Thomas - Bodie Masin - Cernak Pasquale (good ol' Eddie...) Puck drop is at 7:00 PM EST. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  23. Habs vs Bruins

    Habs... Bruins...
  24. A quick one since the game is about to start but Laval kicks off a 3-in-3 tonight against Bridgeport before heading out on the road again. Laval's lines, featuring the two new guys: Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST. 91.9 Sports has the coverage in French.
  25. Islanders vs Canadiens

    Habs.... Isles....
